I lost the link.... But I will find it and post. Anywho, Jim Hill Media has a new article about the Legendary Years......... And WDW filed a permit with Orange County for a "model room" for "Disneys Animation Inn and Suites"........ ironic? or could be the new beginning??

EDIT:

THe link doesn't work. Do you have another? Sounds like an interesting article.

Isn't that the guy that no one likes and alot of his "rumors' are just that and never come true.

I don't know anything about him but I find it hard to believe that occupancy rate at Pop is so much lower than ASMu or ASSp like he claims?

Well, it may be so, but in the past he has predicted the Bay Lake Tower, and many Dis'ers balked at that, then he posted pictures of the Nemo Refurb at CBR and lo' and behold that has come true as well. So, I have learned to take some of Jim Hill credibly and wait and see. I'm not such the doubting Thomas when it comes to his rumors lately.

"Urban exploration!!!" :rotfl2:

Whats so funny? Its a pretty common term. It refers to exploring areas that are closed down, and/or abandoned. Google it. There are TONS of sites out there with people who do this. Some of their pictures are pretty impressive.

Have you ever seen that old building, and wondered what was inside? These people go find out the answer, and take a camera with.

The pics from the link are pretty cool. Take a look at pic #'s 31, 38, 39, and 40. Note the room doors and the windows for those rooms... From the look of the room door location and the fact there is a window beside those doors that they appear to be separate rooms. But they are built differently. Pop Classic doesnt have any room doors built like that.

I don't see what you are referring to.

I've not been to POP, but I just looked at pictures of a couple of the buildings, and they seem identical. The doors to adjacent rooms are at an angle towards each other, with a picture window next to the doorway. Rooms toward the inside of the right angle do not have the doors at an angle though - I don't know if that's true in the classic buildings, but I suspect they are.

Compare to this picture (from All Ears).

If you look at the pic from the allears link, the room doors are at an angle with a little alcove (sp), if thats the correct term. But look at the room doors from the Legendary years in photo #31 and there are 2 room doors that are not at an angle but in-line with the hallway. And if you look at photo # 39 and 40 seems to be just those 2 rooms in the center of the building on that one wing. Make me wonder if it was a contractor / builder error or if those were to be a different type room. But its only in that one wing.

Right, all the rooms appear to have that "alcove", except the inner two on each floor in the wing (that would be the vertical part of a "T" if looking from above. Are the similarly positioned rooms in the existing buildings not the same? I can't find a picture that shows that position.

I don't see any reason that they are different rooms - not having the alcove would only add a few extra sq. feet), and the only other room style would likely be a family suite, but you'd have only one door for that. Also, did the shell predate the idea and retrofitting of ASMu with suites?

It is extremely unlikely that it was a building error. I assume it was a design issue with the rooms in those positions - load bearing on the wall, etc.

The Family Suites at ASMu still have the alcove. They just took the door out and used concrete stucco to plaster where the door once was. None of the other rooms at Pop Classic Years are that way (no alcove) and true, it doesn't appear to be suites since there is a door - window - window - door all so close together. I wonder if they were intended for maybe a different style accessable room?? I'm just brainstorming. I might just have to stop by the next free day I have and see if I can see anything with my binoculars.

can someone link me to the rumors board? I couldn't find it on my own. Thanks!

I think you hit the nail on the head there...the angle might provide a challenge to wheelchair/ECV riders, and this might be an attempt to correct that problem.

Ha Ha I may be blonde, but I have my moments! :rotfl: And they only appear to be on the inside of the T section which would be closer to the elevators. So the design could be for accessable rooms. We may or may not ever know.............
