There is a report over on the Rumors Board that there is lots of activity over on the Legendary Years side of the resort..

I'll send my spies over soon to find out more. ;)

Interesting................ :surfweb:

I would love to see something does with this area. At least clean it up a bit!

From what I have been able to gather (and this may have been posted before) is that when Disney finished construction in 2003 on PC they never went to finish the LY because they felt there was higher priority elsewhere. In specific they have been focusing on expanding the Vacation Club villas at both the Contemporary and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Once both of those projects are finished the plan is to go back and finish the LY. But because of 9/11 and ex stream loss of time from that they had to put the LY to the side in order to keep up with construction in other areas.

But LY should be completed once the Vacation Club villas are done.

the construction company that DVD uses and Disney uses are not the same.

one has nothing to do with the other. Disney promised not to build any hotels in WDW for 5 years. - not sure how much longer that will be.

LY might become another DVC.

DVC will never be completed - Hawaii and Calif are being done as well.

Curious.... In residental construction (houses) in order to have power turned on in a new home, a CO has to be obtained from the county which means the home completed and passed all inspections. Wonder if this is the same in commercial.... If so, wonder if Legandary Hall obtained a CO and power is on. I have never seen any lights over there (but then again, it doesnt mean they aren't on since Disney can do magic such as cover the big windows in Legandary Hall) Or maybe Reedy Creek's permitting and CO's are different.

I was there just today, took a few pics, and peeked through the fence at the 50's parking lot. Nothing has changed. I did noticed that the grass was kept mowed on the other side of the fence. One thing I did see that was interesting was a patio chair in one of the rooms. If you peek through the fence at the room closest to the fence the window is not covered with bags and there is a white patio chair in the room. Looked like it had been there for a while but just looked out of place.

I enjoy the history of WDW and keeping a photo timeline for myself to look back on years down the road. Considering Pop will be completed.

to be honest I never noticed that there was a legendary years as a part of POP Century. I had however seen the lake type body of water that can be seen from the one of the 70s buildings where I stayed a year ago and I had seen the bridge but I never really knew that it went anywhere.

I hope that they do finish the other side of the resort soon. I think it would be cool to see what would become of that. From the pictures I've seen it looks like it has the potential for being amazing. Waiting with bated breath and crossed fingers!!!!

I also don't see the problem with theming to the 1930's amd 1940's. There are ways that you can teach about the past without it being overly depressing, negative and non-disney. Think about ToT, it is themed to the 1930- the golden age of Hollywood, and there is nothing about breadlines or stockmarket crashes in that attraction. I think Disney could also take a que from the American Girls Doll collection, they have two dolls, complete with storylines (and in one case a movie) that deal with both the 1930 and 1940s. These are very child friendly and little girls just eat it up! I think it could be done very, very well, and as a historical archaeologist, I have to say I'd be very intersted in staying in the legendary years, especially the 1890s!

It definitely will be interesting to see! The only action I seen there the end of august were the 13 or soo trailers of mattresses that were in the parking lot next to legendary years and they were being taken to classic years replacing mattresses! No other action!

i've been lurking here reading this thread and avoiding my hubby watching the football game:happytv: and this is the thing; if the rooms are not finished or anything. what would they be doing with mattresses? unless they are using the hall for storage, then it would have some benefit as storage. i would love to see it finished. it is sad to see something half done. will be at pop in a little while, will have to scope it out. :thumbsup2 :dance3: till then, see ya.

Classic years is 50's through 90's. I took it as the mattresses were being taken to the finished section.

Yes! You totally mis read that the trailers with mattresses were over near the legendary years side but they were in fact being replaced in POP Classic years(50's-90's) which is the side which is open . It was the only actiion seen then near the Legendary years (00's-40's) side that is not open. Hope this clears it up.

It would be nice if the theming was done in NON primary colors. I would be willing to walk across the bridge for a more more neutral theming.

yes, more monotone/neutral colors would be appropriate with the theming of the 00s thru 40s - not primary colors

still, we can only wait and hope it will someday be finished....

That reminds me of the kids nowadays. Anything before they were born is in "black and white", so it would be appropriate to do 'Legendary Years' is blacks, whites, and grays. ;)

I agree...I also just noticed my 2007 unofficial guide shows the legendary years or the resort map, does the 2009 edition?
