Have never been to Disney during the holidays and would love to see it decorated. Have stayed at Beach Club, Boardwalk villas and Carribbean Beach. Will we be totally disappointed in a value resort? Since it is new, I thought it would be OK. Also are there any rates out for opening week yet?

I have no idea how much or how little Pop Century will be decorated for the holidays. I am going to be there the first week it's open. We check in on 12/14 and leave on 12/21. Since we check in during value season, the rate available right now is the rack rate of $77 for the standard room or $87 if you go for a preferred room. We booked a preferred room. The deposit with CRO was only $97.01. Mickey

What's the difference between a standard and a preferred room?

The preferred rooms are in the buildings closes to the lobby and main pool usually. I think in the case of Pop Century that puts you in the 60's buildings. Mickey

Thanks Mickey! :p I'm thinking about a stay there in December.... nothing definite yet.

Mickeysaver, we are also looking at staying at Pop Century during the period December 14th through the 20th. I have not made reservations yet as other family members are looking at going the same timeframe, and we haven't work out all the details yet. Do you feel that the rooms will fill up fast? I was just wondering if we should go ahead and make our reservations, even though the other family members haven't decided what they are going to do. I would like for us all to stay in the same place.:p

The time of year that we are going is supposed to be the slow season. However, the time that we leave is the beginning of the busiest time of year at WDW. With only half of the Pop Century resort finished and open, it's got few rooms available than any of the All Stars alone. I don't know how quickly it will fill up. I know that when the announcement was made that it was opening lots of folks on the many many internet boards made reservations to be among the original guests of the hotel. The fact that it is a Value resort makes it appealing to lots of families, obviously.

I guess my best advice from dealing with trying to coordinate extended family vacations on more than one near disasterous occasion would be to take care of you family's needs now. If your other family members can't get their ducks in a row, it's on them. Do what you have to for your own first. You might be surprised just how quickly other people get their minds made up and their butts in gear when they see you have done something with or without them. lol

I think that making reservations anytime within the next month should be pretty safe still. Good luck! Mickey

If we made reservations for Pop Century now for a visit in Feb. and we found out a little later that we can't afford to go do we forfeit our deposit or do we have to pay for the rooms or do we get our deposit back? We were thinking of doing it through Dreams but were also thinking that if a Canadian deal comes through can we get the deal if we have already booked? We did ask for a quote from Dreams and the other agent we had a quote from before knew the answers but the agent we just got a quote from doesn't seem to know the answers to my questions.
