We are going on a Disney cruise and are going to EPCOT when we get off the ship. We will be leaving the next day to go home, so we only need one night at a hotel. We are considering the Pop Century. It is a little more than members of my party want to spend, but I think it is worth it ($122.62 out the door). You are guaranteed a clean, safe room. You can check in and leave your bags instead of bringing them to the park where they will sit in your car in the hot sun (perishables could spoil, melt, etc). If your room isn't ready, they will keep them for you and bring them up when it is. You can buy tickets at the hotel, not wait in line at the park. You can take a shuttle (how often do they leave?). One of the members isn't going, so I think they will have more to do there than at an off site hotel. I think those are all valid points, don't you? Are there any more selling points I am missing to convince my parents?

Also, we have never stayed there before, but would like to know about the different decade sections. We would like to stay in the 50's section. It sounds like fun. Would it be possible to request? Does anyone have any pictures of the 50's area/rooms? Is there a 40's section, too? Any pictures?

If I bought a refillable mug, can I bring it to the park and get free refills?

We have stayed at this resort twice, May of 2005 and June of this year. We love this resort.
We have stayed in 70s building both times as it is very close to Everything POP and the PopJet pool is close if you have youngsters.

PoP has it's own dedicated bus service that runs continuosly every 20 minutes. It is a new resort, so everything is fresh and clean. We would return to the room in early afternoon for a midday break and it was always clean.
We are going back to WDW in late 2008 and this is where we will stay. You cannot use the resort mug in the parks.
Good luck and have fun!

To convince parents who don't want to spend money at Disney World, even for a vlaue resort I've used the following point (I think you've covered most of them) -

1. Find an offsite hotel that has everything Pop Century has. Liftguarded pool, laundry, game room, food court and gift shop on the premises, free Disney shuttle with regular continuous service (that's important and almost impossible to find), a small lake, secured parking. IF you find one that has all those qualities (and I doubt you will), then check the price. It sure is going to be more than $112.

2. There's a heck of a lot of things to do at Pop Century itself. The shadowboxes in the lobby are not to be missed. So is the walkway at the lake that takes you through all the years from 1950-1999.

I think Pop Century is an excellent choice for a one night stay to extended that Disney magic just a bit. And if you are coming off the Disney cruise, you'll want that magic to continue, trust me.

I echo disnut8. There are off site places than can be just plan scary--and unexpectedly so. You;ll have unlimited Disney transportation, excellent customer service and you'll feel safe. Don't forget the FOOD COURT! No trying to find McDonald's or whatever else people want--it will all be right there on property.
I've stayed in 50's 3x (non-preferred rooms) and it was a great location. You can always make requests, but they may or may not be able to be fulfilled.
As previously stated, you cannot use the mugs in the parks.

I don't believe that it will make any difference what section you stay in for one night. Take a walk around and enjoy it all. Make sure you go to the bridge and see the turtles.

We're staying at Pop for the first time next month. We've stayed at Mods and Deluxe, but we're very excited for Pop! Can't stop checking out the pictures and reports! Got a great AAA rate at $75 per night preferred.
Pop here we come!!!!!!!!!!:moped:

we just stayed in the 50's section of the POP and were disappointed...very LOUD...till late at night....and people were not nearly as friendly as when we stay at a Moderate....too many Smokers every where...teh smoking benches were always PACKED....I;d stay elsewhere...
