Poor Unfortunate Souls ~ A Spooktacular Trip Back to the World! UPDATE Reality Check

Haha if I didn't despise Harry Potter and the royal family then those could be an option ;)

:rotfl: There is a fascination here with the Royals, there will be probably some costumes coming out shortly of Kate and Will. I just watched the miniseries "The Tudors" wow, I am not to sure how historically accurate it was, but I loved it. If history class was like that I would never have missed a day:rotfl:

I can't wait to see what your costumes ideas are in your PTR. I have none as of yet. I am thinking though.

Yay, I'm all caught up.

Stefy, everyone else has already said it, but what you did for Dave's birthday was amahzing! Seriously, you made some pretty epic choices!

You had a similar seat that I did for the fireworks dessert party. I loved it, but I am also extremely partial to desserts.....

I love all things Tudors, was a fascinating, scandalous era in History. I love the show as well, but it is slightly off on some parts, costumes etc but unless you are a really History buff you don't really notice it. SHO have a new show coming out in April called The Borgias, if you loved The Tudors you will love this show, looks awesome!

Its not long now til March and the hours will be out, so once we have figured out our days I will be starting our PTR, but hopefully will have finished this TR by then :) Then you can help us with costume ideas :)

Glad you're all caught up :) Dave's birthday was so much fun to plan and play out. If I had the dosh there would be a surprise for everyday we are at Disney :teeth:

The table was pretty cool right, we were slightly worried that people would plonk themselves right in front of us, but we ended up standing ourselves in the end so wasn't too bad.

Day 12 - Monday October 11th
Hey all  How we doing? Good weekends?

Ours was good, we chilled and got some wedding bits done. Thought I would sneak in a quick update before going back to wedding bits.

So, today was supposed to be an AK day, but we changed our minds at the last minute and made it an MK day, for it would be our last full day there as we would be going home in a couple of days :sad1:

We started off with breakfast at the Main St Bakery. Our first time trying it out on any of our trips and let me say that we will be making an effort every trip to eat here and this is why....

The famous cinnamon bun as big as my head :teeth: This was so delicious I cannot wait to get back to MS Bakery and eat another one of these babies.

We used a CS credit each for this and never again, it was too much food! Two food items and one beverage. So I went for the Ham and Cheese Croissant and Cinnamon Bun and Dave went for a Pain au Chocolat and Cinnamon Bun.

So good, but too much to eat first thing in the morning, next time we'll just stick to a snack credit each.

After breakfast we made our way over to Adventureland and starting wandering.

Now I had stopped taking notes after Dave's birthday (can't remember why) and don't really remember what we did (so bad I know). But I think we went on SM first (was most prob a 10min wait).

Its our new favourite ride and we both love the SM Song. After Splash we walked back round towards Liberty Square and hopped aboard the Liberty Square Riverboat. Such a peaceful ride and it was a beautiful day to take pictures.

The picture taking kinda stops for the rest of MK, but we do have some great PP shots. We must have wandered through Fantasyland afterwards and as we were walking down one of the side walkways of the Castle we spotted a PP photographer and asked him if he would take our pictures, he said yes and this was the result.

He spent quite a bit of time with us and we got some amazing pictures. Was so glad we flagged him down as these are by far my favouritest of the PP CD :)

We also scored a photo with Tink

Its a bit hazy what we did after this, but I am guessing we most probably went back to the resort for a rest before dinner.

Dinner tonight was at AKL and a first for us as we were trying out Jiko. We arrived a little too early, but that was cool as we wanted to check out the resort to weigh up the pros and cons for our honeymoon resort. We got chatting to a DVC CM who was really chatty and friendly and telling us about CM off duty. We walked around for a little bit taking in the resort as much as we could.

Really cool banana tree I am guessing, would have been cool if the flower was in bloom.

I must say that AKL is a beautiful result, but having weighed up the pros and cons, the Poly has it beaten hands down and I am really glad we decided to change in the end and increased to 10 nights too :teeth: Can't wait to go back home :cloud9:

It was nearing check in time so we made our way over to Jiko. Dave checked us in whilst I went to the Ladies. Odd thing to say, but the toilets are Jiko are lovely very elegant with wild undertones and great colours, but enough about the toilets. I found Dave and it was time to be seated. Our server came by and introduced himself and went through the menu, but he wasn't the usual restaurant CM we encountered and wasn't that helpful at suggesting wines. I was starting to feel a bit yucky at this point (thank you Mr Sneezypants) and passed on a Starter, so I let Dave make two choices. He went for the Taste of Africa (trio of dips with assorted bread) and the Grilled Wild Boar Tenderloin.
WDWTrip20101970.jpg

WDWTrip20101971.jpg

We also ordered a bottle of wine to share, we asked for a sweet wine and apparently this was the sweetest on the wine list.
WDWTrip20101972.jpg

It was ok, but not that sweet, had to keep adding ice to it as it was airing out too quickly for my tastes.

We both got the same for our mains, Oak Grilled Fillet Mignon. This one was Dave's...
WDWTrip20101973.jpg

...and this was mine...
WDWTrip20101974.jpg

It looked quite fat and tender, but tender and juicy it was not. I asked for medium to well done and it came out extra rare!!! Honestly it was like eating a raw meat
55.jpg

Now part of me wished I had kicked our servers as$ and asked what he exactly did he tell the chef, but I was feeling to yucky to even care :( So I left the whole thing and waited for dessert. Oh and just to explain the different from our server at Narcoossee's compared to Jiko, when the NC server saw I had left most of my starter he asked if there was anything wrong and did I want something else. Jiko server didn't even bother asking if there was anything wrong and didn't really care that I had left a whole slab of meat on my plate. Really put me off being there and we almost didn't order dessert, but at last server skills kicked in and he convinced us to order (only so the bill would increase and he got a bigger tip).

I ordered the Amarula Creme Brulee and Dave went for Tarzanian Chocolate, Cherry and Chocolate.
WDWTrip20101975.jpg

WDWTrip20101977.jpg

Our server also bought out a birthday dessert for Dave, a smaller version of the Creme Brulee.
WDWTrip20101976.jpg

All in all not the best experience at Jiko, which was a shame as we had heard nothing but good reviews on the place. I guess it was just the wrong server at the wrong time.

That concludes our Day 12, stay tuned for Day 13 and our last full day at WDW :(

Those are great PP photos! I've never seen any by the wishing well. Sorry that the Jiko dinner wasn't great. That is a disappointment because it gets so many great reviews. I'm also sorry you weren't feeling well. I guess the good thing is it waited until the end of the trip.

I've missed a couple of updates, but all caught up now!

That mushroom hidden Mickey was both really neat and terribly disgusting. I hate mushrooms (ones you find just growing- ones you find in food I merely dislike). I hate mushrooms so much that by comparison, the giant spider is downright cute to me :confused3

Main Street Bakery cinnamon roll!!! Delicious, I agree! And very big, too!

Sorry to hear about the dud of a Jiko server at your dinner (on my birthday, no less!)

:worship: M.S.B. Cinn--- A----mon B-U-N:worship:
That is my favorite food in all of WDW, it is heavan on a plate. I believe I could win an eating competiton if that was the food item.

Beautiful pictures. Stinks about Jiko, that meat was raw.
Good call on the Poly over AK for your honeymoon. We stayed at AK in 2006, it is beautiful but having to take the bus to each resort and paying for a Delux , was a major con for us. It was fun seeing the animals but for your honeymoon the Poly.

I am excited about the showtime series, will google it.

You and Soopa-fly, have agreat week and fun planning.

I'm signed up and enjoying it but I only made it to page 24 so I'll have to start again tomorrow!! :thumbsup2

Thanks :) I think the PP Photographer was on his way to one of his spots and we figured that he also might be a roamer so we took a chance and stopped him and in the perfect place too :)

It was a shame about Jiko as we were both looking forward to it, we might try again another time me thinks.

Great PP pictures! :thumbsup2 Sorry to hear that you were getting sick! :sad2:

Thanks :) Its the story of my life getting sick on holiday, but I am gonna try really hard to eat my fruit and veg and also take my vitamins. Have even asked my office manager if she can help me not get stressed the last week before the wedding.

:) Lol about the mushrooms, I hate the smell of fried mushrooms and don't like eating them either, but we thought it looked all cute hidden away there.

MSB Cinnamon Bun is soooooooooo good, cannot wait to get me one of those this year and whats even more dangerous is the fact that we are on the Monorail line and my DF can even hop on just to get one

Lol yes I think I should also :worship: the Cinnamon Bun :teeth: I wish I knew how to make it over here, would go down a storm at work.

We can't wait to get back to the Poly and back to our little spot we found on the beach last year :)

Still another month or so til it starts but it'll be worth the wait, I mean it has to be good if the legendary Jeremy Irons is playing Rodrigo Borgia! Have you checked out a trailer yet?

You have a great week too :goodvibes

I'm signed up and enjoying it but I only made it to page 24 so I'll have to start again tomorrow!! :thumbsup2

:welcome: You'll be caught up in no time, although I see you are off to the World in a week, so exciting :teeth:

Love the update Stef! I especially love the PP picture at The wishing well. I hope we get to do that this year.

You were able to get some fantastic PP shots!

I love AKL and have stayed there a few times however we've never tried Jiko. It was nice to see your review.

Haha if I didn't despise Harry Potter and the royal family then those could be an option ;)

Hope I gave you a good laugh:rotfl: remembered reading your post when you saw the movie. DH loves me so much that I drag him to see the Twilight movies as well. What you boys won't do for the women you love:lovestruc He did say though that he preferred the last HP movie because it had more action. Think he's really glad there is only one more movie left to go:worship:

I'm in! I don't know why it took me so long to find your tr since I read your ptr??? Anyways, I have loved all of it! I love all of your outfits, so cute! I got the pink dooney and bourke wristlet for my birthday, and I love it! I'm getting the white d&b bag (the $195 one) for my birthday, and I am so excited! I also love all of the food porn!!!!!! Can't wait for another update!

Hey Stef, hey Dave! Been busy lately but just caught up on your update. You two are so flippen cute together. Love the PP pics by the fountain! I hate seeing where you said that the trip was getting close to the end:sad1: Looking forward to the next update and I hope the wedding stuff is still going smoothly!

Thanks :) Look out for a PP nearby and just grab him/her.

Don't let my review put you off, I am sure our experience was one of the few bad ones against most of the good that other Disers have had :)

He is lucky that I have a friend obsessed as much as me with the Twilight movies so he gets a free pass on those :teeth: But he is a good boy coming to see HP with me, am sure he feels the same as your DH about this years HP being the last

Thanks for the lovely comments. The D&B wristlets are just the cutest right? I wish I could get the totes but they are a little on the small side for me.

Should be getting another update done this weekend, so stay tuned :)

No probs, I am waay behind myself on my own subscribed threads.

Thanks for the lovely comments :) I know, I'm sad that its nearly at an end, but we have the PTR to plan along as well as wedding plans. Hope you'll join us :)

AMEN to that! The only scene I have ever enjoyed is the scene with Dumbledore and the swirling fire. Everything else has been about as entertaining as having teeth pulled
