We are staying at a Value resort for the first time (All Star Sports) this September to try the free dining. I think it will be fine and am somewhat excited. We've only stayed at Deluxes and my dh is a bit nervous to say the least. My dd (4) absolutely LOVES the waterslide at Boardwalk. We take a pool break everyday at lunchtime and do the waterslide with her. I'm nervous she is going to freak out that there's no waterslide at All Star. Just in case I'm wondering what the pool hopping priviledges are. I've heard there is a small waterslide at Animal Kingdom and it is a nice pool. Since it is the closest resort, I thought it would be the best to hop over to. Is this an option for us? Anyone do this? Or how about hopping to the Polynesian directly from Magic Kingdom or Boardwalk from Epcot? We can pack our sutis in the stroller.

Sorry, pool hopping is not allowed. Why not take her to a water park? Lots of slides there!

Sorry, but there's no pool hopping allowed unless you want to go to any other AS pool. There is a sign posted at each pool that it is for their resort guests only. A lifeguard can ask to see your room key. They are resort coded so they can tell you're not staying at that resort. You could always let her play in the fountains at DTD or Epcot. Then there's always water slides at the water parks.

Since your daughter is 4 I am sure she will be fine at the pools at the all stars they are themed for kids and she will probably not miss the water slide if you make sure not to fuss about it. Pool hopping is sadly not allowed unless you hop over to the other all star pools. I am sure you will have fun no matter what.

Oh. I thought it was allowed. OK, well we'll just have to deal with it. We don't want to spend an entire day at or pay for a waterpark when we will only be there for an hour or two. She would much rather spend her time at the theme parks. We live 15 minutes from a waterpark and so it's not like she doesn't ever go to them, but we live in Wisconsin so we don't get to go to Disney very often. Anyways, All Stars have those islands with the characters so maybe that will be fun. I'm probably freaking out about nothing. Thanks!

The pool theming/slide is one of the reasons that the moderate and deluxe resorts are more expensive. If you want those amenities you need to pay for them.

I agree with other poter that I have seen very few 4 year old enjoy the water slide.
Some do most it is to overwhelming.

The all star sports has a cool pool that shoots water from a cannon- she'd probably enjoy that!

I would suggest All Star Music. They have some really fun activities for kids at their pool right now (not sure how long this is going to last, check out the All Star Music FAQ thread). When we stayed there last month, they had movies every night on a large screen and in the afternoons they played games. It was very nice for kids of all ages. I also think the newly refurbbed rooms of Music are wonderful, and since you are used to Deluxe, that might help. Music is my favorite value, it has lovely landscaping and is very relaxing and much quieter than the other All Stars or Pop.

Sports has the newly refurbbed rooms too, but I don't think they have the pool activities. If you can switch I might suggest that.

My kids are used to staying at the DVC's and when we stayed at Music last month, they loved that resort and the pools. They didn't seem to notice they were at a value and we had a great time. In fact, we loved that resort and I find myself almost wishing we were staying there again this week instead of the Poly. Go figure!

I believe Disney used to allow pool hopping but they don't anymore for anyone but DVC members staying on points. And even they can't hop to Animal Kingdom's pool. Its not uncommon for lifeguards to find the pool hoppers and make them leave so if your daughter misses Boardwalk's slide tell her the pool police won't let you go over there! She'll probably love the values and their big icons so much she won't notice. The food courts are so nice at the values too. I miss those when I stay elsewhere.

I had asked a slightly different question a couple of months ago (DH and I staying at POR, wanted to bring nephew over from POP to swim at our pool). Aside from all of the passionately negative reactions, the majority response were to ask the lifeguard on duty if it would be allowed. Since your party is staying at AS Sports, I don't believe it would be.

But I would definitely ask someone at that resort before you just went and helped yourself. It would be far worse to start having fun at the pool and get kicked out rather than just going to your own pool that doesn't have a slide. I think your daughter would be more upset having to leave the slide than if she never even saw it.

My thought is that if you want to have a nicer pool- you need to pay for it. Otherwise you'd have everyone booking the values and heading over to the deluxes. It isn't fair to those that paid the high rates to have lots of people that didn't pay the rates using their pool.

The values have wonderful, fun, themed pools. If your daughter is only 4, she will be fine. Maybe you might want to think of maybe taking a day to go to the waterparks if she likes being in the water. Pool hoping is definitely a no no!!

I thought this one would be able to stay open. Thank you to those that stated the rules to the OP.
