Ponytails or pigtails?

I say if it is braided, whether it is one braid or more than one, it is a pigtail or pigtails. It can't be a pigtail unless it is braided. If you have hair on either side of your head in elastics and the hair is not braided, then you have ponytails.

DH says if there is more than one, whether braided or not, it is pigtails.

What do you say?

I always say ponytail if there is one and pigtails if there are two. Doesn't matter to me if they are braided or not.

Ponytail, no matter how many. A braid is a braid here. :)

One is a ponytail; two are pigtails.

DD always called them "tails" - regardless of number or whether they were braided or not. ;) She was very bald until she was about 3 1/2....but had "tails" consisting of three or four 2" hairs almost every day. ;) :crazy:

If it is one then it is a pony tail. With two, they become pig tails.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_9_9v.gif' border=0></a>

I've always called one a ponytail and two pigtails and braids were just braid(s) .

I agree with one=ponytail, 2=pigtails, and braids are braids.

one unbraided=ponytail, 2 unbraided=puppy ears or puppy tails (I got that from my mom when I was a teenager), 1 unbraided=braid, 2 unbraided=pigtails

1 (in the back) is a ponytail.
2 (on the sides) are pigtails.
Braids are braids. Period.

One in the back is a ponytail.

Two on the sides are ponytails if the hair is long. If the hair is short (like say on a 2 year old) then the two on the side are called pigtails. Think "short and curly" like a pig's tail. For me, it has to do with the length of the hair, not the style. And a braid is a braid.

I agree. :D

1 = ponytail
2 = pigtails
braid or braids = braid or braids

That's how we do it anyway!!

DisneyElla, another vote for you here. DD asks for pigtails if she wants them braided and a ponytail/s if she does not.:p

Oh no! More people are voting for DH's way. This means I might actually have to admit I'm wrong about an all-important hair issue!

I always called one tale down the back ponytail doesn't have to be braided...2 bands on each side of the head pig tails....

I have a cute story...when my DD (22) was small it too a long time for her hair to grow finally I was able to put it into pig tails...one day I asked her how she wanted to wear her hair that day and she said...Oh, just like a pig....sorry I digressed!
