I just emailed out some new info in my update email but I wanted to post here to fill in some that dont get the updates. Hawaii is gearing up on Sunday to open on Monday. Sounds like they are not done with everything (need to still do stuff in the concierge desk area) and they are working on a new menu for the lounge but it might not be in affect right away and I dont know if it is a good or bad change.
I was emailed that Tuvalu and Niue opened with the new rooms and there has been no work on Tahiti yet like it was scheduled. Right after I emailed that Tuvalu was open with new rooms I got an email from a guest who was at the Polynesian last week and checked into Tuvalu after being told by the front desk it was a new room. When she entered it was an old room. This is what I speak of a lot that management does not keep the staff informed and it only causes problems. They later were informed that only the 2nd and 3rd floors were done and they opened the other rooms before they were done because they needed the room. This is exactly what happened to me when I flew out to see the new room design and checked into Rapa Nui (after being told all the rooms were new) and when I walked in the door saw an old room. The staff had no idea until I told them, than they found out that they opened the 2nd floor because of the over booking and had not worked on those rooms yet.
This guests also reported problems with water pressure when they were moved to a new room in Rapa Nui. I was told Tahiti needed work on the water lines also. She ended up in a new room in Fiji which was great but she did notice the lighting and headboards that do not match. This sort of rush to open is a bad practice and makes them look bad. Lets hope they get these things taken care of soon.
As much as I love the Polynesian and I think the staff and management do many great things I still am going to report when I think something is not right and I feel the way some things are being handled could be done better.
I know the management keeps an eye out for posts about the Polynesian so hopefully we can all work together to make the Polynesian a great resort.
Aloha
Steve
