I heard that the Hawaii Building is going to get rehab in the summer beginning at the end of june?I was wondering where is the concierge going to be located or if there going to have it at all b/c i was think about staying at the poly in a concierge room but now im haveing second thoughts about it.

They are moving the concierge services to the Tahiti longhouse. We have done concierge the last two summers, but I don't think we will be doing it this summer. Maybe I will wait to hear feedback once people start staying there, but I don't know:confused: We get a GV room and without the view from the lounge and the location of the Hawaii longhouse I just can't see us paying all that money to do concierge this summer. I get the feeling that since it is going to be temporary it will feel like it with a makeshift lounge and check in? We might try the GF this summer instead if we don't opt for a standard room?

The Tahiti longhouse an excellent view of the Castle, I stayed there and in Hawaii, I like the rooms in Tahitii better actually, they have the dual sinks :)

The lounge wont be as nice, since it wont have the view as the one in the Hawaii longhouse, but other than that, I cant see the big difference.
If you want to stay concierge and at the Polynesian, then I say why not??? !:)

I just made reservations today for the Polynesian for garden concierge. We are going June 21-28 and I was told by CRO that the rehab to the Hawaii building is to start on June 23rd. The Tahiti building is taking over the concierge services. The CM also told me that the Tahiti rooms are a little bit bigger than those in Hawaii. I have no qualms about staying in Tahiti ~ I feel pretty confident that they will do all they can to assure that it doesn't have a makeshift feel. The Polynesian concierge has such a good reputation and I don't think they would jeopordize that.
I can't wait!:bounce:

Other than the view from the lounge not being there I think it is a perfect situation. Tahiti is my favorite longhouse and now it will have concierge (for 3 months). We are not going back for the first time in many years because we have another trip planned but I wish we were to see what the concierge will be like in Tahiti.

Aloha

The rehab on Hawaii is set to begin the day after we leave. While I'm thrilled we will have our stay in the Hawaii building, I too have some concerns and a part of me would like to see just how the resort will be handling concierge in Tahiti.

We stayed in Tahiti years ago and liked the LV very much. We really liked the larger bathroom and dual sinks that are standard in Tahiti. I, like you, would be a bit disappointed at the lack of "view" for the GV category AND lounge area. Still, I'm sure the staff will make the stay very special regardless of the building being utilized for concierge.

I would like to see just how it is all going to come together. Since we leave on 6/22, and rehab starts 6/23--are guests checking in on that date (6/22) or those with stays overlapping weeks being lodged in Tahiti or being moved mid-stay? What about those of us that are in residence the week before, Tahiti or Hawaii? Will we notice a difference in service because everyone is trying to make the transition to Tahiti? These are just a couple of my own concerns--maybe more of a curiousity than a true "concern".

In any event, we can't wait to get back and I'm sure it will all work out.
