Polynesian and monorail question

My friend is considering staying at the Poly. She likes the idea of the monorail right there. I know the monorail goes to the magic kingdom, but when she goes to Epcot would the monorail be faster than the car they will have with them? how long a ride is it on the monorail to epcot? don't you have to switch at the TTC?
Do you think staying at the Poly is worth the extra money? or would a mod be better since they have the option of driving around.

I have never driven from the Poly to Epcot, but the Monorail ride is very short. I think maybe 7-9 mins.
Not sure though.

If I stayed at Poly I would not drive to a Monorail park or resort, that is one of the best things about staying on the Monorail....it is handy.

I've also never driven, but we walk to the TTC from the Poly and take the direct monorail to Epcot. Maybe 10 minutes once aboard the monorail. If you take the regular resort loop around to the TTC and then switch, I guess it would take about 45 minutes. But it is easy to walk to the TTC from the Poly (expecially easy from certain longhouses).

I think there are lots more reasons to splurge for the Poly besides the monorail, but I really like not having to drive when we are on vacation.

Walking to the Transportation & Ticket Center and getting a direct monorail to Epcot will be faster than driving from Polynesian.

The other intangible here is traffic. My last time staying at Poly, we were heading to Epcot on the monorail and we saw a HUGE back-up of cars on the highway, as well as a big back-up getting off at the exit for Epcot. Nothing would make me more annoyed than wasting my time sitting in traffic when I want to be enjoying my vacation.

I don't know if that was normal or not. In other words, I don't know if there was an accident on the road or something, but I do know it was just at the beginning of Presidents Day weekend, which is historically a pretty crowded time at WDW.

Since it's about a 10 minute walk or more to the Transportation & Ticket Center depending on which Longhouse you stay in, I would say taking the Monorail to Epcot is just as fast like driving yourself.

Poly has great trnsp. options. with the monorail to MK, and a short path to the TTC to get the Epcot monorail, way faster then driving I would think.

Definitely walk to the TTC. The monorail ride to Epcot is almost an attraction itself. LOVE going around Spaceship Earth.
