Poly Tower Speculation

The new bus fleet (circa 2021) was a huge wasted opportunity...instead of replacement with electric buses. Disneyland Resort did it around the same time (with cooperation with Anaheim/OC transit). So much quieter, zero exhaust smell, would've been a game changer and made the wait tolerable - pleasurable.
I would support a fleet of new busses! Just put enough of them on the road. Swap out the Speedway cars while we're at it! Nothing like that Tomorrowland smell :crazy2:

Pretty sure they tried the Hybrid bus route a few years back and it didn't work out so well. Don't think I've seen any on them still abound. The newest busses don't have any diesel exhaust smell if they are running properly. I'm pretty sure they all have exhaust filters on them.

you have all the locals parking at the resort to avoid the TTC, etc.
Funny-- we like stay at the Poly in part because of easy access to the TTC. Though I'm sure I'd feel differently if I had to park and shuttle to get to the TTC gate.

I am hopeful the tower adds deluxe dining, more QS dining, and an additional shop. It has it's own pool with splash pad and parking lot based on the plans. It will probably have it's own porte cochere, bell services, and concierge/check-in like VGF1 since it's going to have the parking lot and lobby. I agree with the monorail issue, but the tower will be close to VGF1 and if I were staying at Poly2 I would just walk to MK. I prefer walkable resorts.

My concern is it's not going to have any of that. It's going to end up being like Bay Lake Tower with very little services. Maybe they add a nice restaurant to the top, but that's about it.

When was the last time DVC built a decent pool at WDW? Most of them are after thought (cheap) "quiet" pools. It's going to take a lot to get Tower people to not go to the volcano pool especially if they have children.

Oh, it's definitely a thing. I know people that place Captain Cook orders just to park there and then cancel them.

Half the hotel faces the water, these are gonna be $1,000 a night rooms for sure. Lake views / Theme park hover around 750-1000 on poly 1.
We rented Poly DVC Lakeview Dec 16-20 at $21pp, average $500/nt. Rack rate was $1400/nt with tax! :scared1: With the best deal was still $1100/nt. Did help push us to buying more points. If I could get that room with our new VGF points would be closer to $350/nt.

I’m thinking Poly 2 is going to have a high ratio of premium views. Standard can stay attractive while they’ll still increase the points to sell. If they lean hard on the Wow factor with this project, I think initially incentives won’t be the best. Like VDH there will be those who really love it and the higher price still makes sense to them. Later they can focus on the next group who want to feel they’re getting a bargain.

They have been cracking down on this and not letting people in even with mobile orders.

I know they are very strict at RIV and the CR. Surprised they would not be that way at Poly.

Was there in July and fumes were terrible. Hybrid buses are terribly overcomplicated…like the car version. Worst of both worlds, all the weaknesses of either drivetrain and none of the strengths. BYD or Proterra battery electric buses like ones at DLR is what is needed.

The re-imagined Paddock pool?

I was thinking the Boulder Ridge one when Copper Creek came online, but you may be right. The BRV pool is nice, but doesn't have a slide.

The Volcano/Lava pool is definitely in the top 5 (3?) list at World.

Maybe they will put a rival pool at the building. One that is up the standards of the original?

Poly has the ability to send day guests over to TTC. If parking became tight I imagine they’d do that.

The area reserved for pool(s) looks Impressive.

We are not really pool people anymore. We really want some decent restaurants, something that really echos the Polynesian culture (at least the Disney American version because it needs to have staying power). Animal Kingdom Sanaa or Jiko level. Next on our wish list is a bigger Trader Sam's, but we really want the Adventures Club back but is a whole different thread.
