I was reading some of my disney books about the Poly and wondered why some of the original longhouse names changed?
Anyone know why? :confused3
Like one used to be Pago Pago, and I thought the Hawaii building used to be a different building according to my book, but it doesn't say why they changed?
Just curious :upsidedow :upsidedow

According to passporter and allearsnet, they were changed to more accurately reflect actual places and the geographical location of the islands in Polynesia.

We are heading to the Poly in December, and I decided to look it up. They do match up better. For instance, Aoteora, or New Zealand, is the most southwestern island in Polynesia, Hawaii the the most northern island, and Rapa Nui (or Easter Island) is the most eastern island.

BTW, my DH agrees - I should stop obsessing....:dance3:

Thanks, I had wondered why. Although we'll always call it Pago Pago!:goodvibes

Well that makes sense!
And I might have to agree with your DH-- LOL-- :lmao:
Did you happen to see anywhere how often the volcano pool erupts?

We stayed in Moorea which became Tahiti.

Tonga = Bali Hai

Niue = Bora Bora

Those are two I'm just stuck on!

Fiji has always been Fiji, I believe, but the rest have changed.

Aw, I really miss the former names....it's the "real" Polynesian Village Resort to me (And true about Figi - thank goodness some things do not change! LOL)...and too bad they dropped the "Village" - it sounded so pretty.
