We will be traveling with my in-laws next July. We would like adjoining rooms as we will probably put one of our 3 kids in their room. I am toying between the lake view or just sticking with standard view.

I am wondering if there are far less lake view rooms, thus less possibility that we would get adjoining rooms.

My other possible issue is that we have a Poly contract and AK contract. I am booking the first few nights of our trip with my Poly points at the 11 month mark and then at 7 months adding the remaining days using my AK points -- so with that are the lake view rooms usually booked by 7 months? I really don't want to change rooms mid trip.

or am I just safer booking the standard room, which we have had in the past and did enjoy the pool view we had.

There are many more standard rooms vs lakeview so odds say you would be better with the standard view. Since all the lakeview rooms connect to another though it certainly doesn't mean it wouldn't happen and probably would. We've done it once with lakeview and once with standard view rooms. But for best odds book the standard view. (fyi - all but 2 standard view rooms connect to another standard view).

There are 360 Poly Studios. 288 are Standard View and 72 are Lake View. As stated, all by 2 of those rooms (both of which are Standard), connect to another room. At one point, two connecting rooms was an actual booking category. Not sure if it still is though. In any case, if your only request is for connecting rooms, the odds are quite high that they will be able to accommodate that request. Obviously, with Standard, the odds are better (pretty near certainty) since the number of units is so much larger.

Adjoining rooms do not necessarily connect. They could be close without a connecting door.

I'd go with standard. The odds of two connecting rooms being available on the day you check in are much greater. They can't give you connecting rooms if one of the pair is still occupied.
