Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone can advise me on a certain room in the Hawaii building(LV). Do some rooms have a better view of the castle than others? Which room would you request? All of you Poly experts I would appreciate any help, so I can make a request ........................Thanks ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

We got 1504, first floor, overlooking castle and beach.
I really like that one because we had a porch on the ground floor so the kids could run right out the back door. I looked on TikiMans
web page and he stayed in 1505. I don't have that link now, but
I know it's on the DIS board somewhere. Anyway, I asked for
1505 or a room close to it with no connecting door to adjacent
room. I had read that the rooms with connecting doors were much
louder. Anyway, after I got there I was glad i wasn't on the
2nd or 3rd floor, because they didn't have a balcony. I like to
sit out on the porch every morning drinking coffee and feeding the ducks that came up. You'll have a great time there!!

The 3rd floor rooms do have balconies but they are smoking.

I have very small children and will be requesting a 2nd floor room because I don't want my DS to just run out the back door. I like the convenience to the longe which in on the 2nd floor. Also even though there isn't a balcony the "windows" are actually sliding doors so you can open those.

Last Oct I had room 2501-the room right next to the longe and the view was a bit obscured. We didn't hear any noise from the longe.

Thanks for the GREAT info! (Hawaii, LV Concierge)
I was really interested in a third floor room, although we do not smoke (our children are 15 and 9). I have read posts saying you really couldn't smell the smoke. Any truth to this? Am I only kidding myself, because I think the view will be better? If not, are there rooms on the third floor with unobstructed views? If so, which ones? Right now I am determined to have 3rd floor for the simple reason of a balcony, but I wil settle for 1st floor(we like to sit outside at night) if the feedback thinks I am better off not taking the 3rd floor...... Thanks Again for ALL your help!

Hi- We were in room 1507 and our friends were in room 1506. Room 1507 had a perfect view of the castle and space mountain. Room 1506 has a palm tree in the way of the castle. Both of those rooms have a hedge outside of them which prevents you from seeing the beach when sitting down. The only bad thing about that was when our little ones (4 and 6) were down playing on the beach we couldn't see them from our patio. The good thing about it is that people strolling on the path can't see into your room. My husband had not one, but TWO lit cigarettes dropped on his head from the third floor balcony above us while he was standing outside of our room with our kids. Unbelievable! Other than that I thought the location was perfect and I LOVED being on the first floor and so did our kids. Have fun!

We were there Dec. 6-13. My husband and son have asthma so we requested no smoking. We were put on 3rd floor in a non smoking room. There were no smoking signs on our door and several rooms near ours. I never smelled any smoke the whole week. I am very sensitive to smoke and I would have smelled it.

Pirateofthecarolinas,
That is great news on the fact that you could not smell any smoke.Did you have a LV room? If so, How was the view from the room and what was your room number? As you can see I am anxious at trying to make sure I get my room and floor request in ASAP. Thanks.........

WendynJane,
Thanks for the very informative info. I appreciate all that you have provided.

We stayed on the 3rd floor in Hawaii and didn't smell any smoke either. My MIL/Grandmother stayed on the first floor and they loved it. We have little ones so the first floor can be scary if your 1 year old gets loose!! I think you will like the third floor - but to be honest - any room is going to be MAGICAL - especially with the lagoon view!! Have a great time!!!

We were Garden View but I know the room across from us had the no smoking sign on the door as well. I think our room number was 3135. We were near the upper level of the concierge lounge. All we had to do was walk down the steps and we were in the lower level of the lounge where the food and beverages are served. You'll love it!

We were there Nov 28-Dec 6th. We had two lagoon view concierge rooms on the third floor. I agree that being on the third floor was still very convenient to the lounge, there is an entrance on the third floor that goes into the lounge into a loft type area, and then there are open stairs down into the lounge itself.
Anyway. We definitely saw doors with no smoking signs on them. I can't recall if our rooms had the signs or not, and I never smelled smoke anywhere, in our room or in the halls.
As for the view, we had room 3512 and it was awesome! I now prefer the third floor over first. The view of the castle was better being higher up. (and I think they have trimmed some trees from the island that used to block it) We could leave our curtains open all night and it was so nice to be able to open my eyes and see the castle right from the bed! Dd missed being able to play on the beach which she did when we had first floor, but I actually didn't miss that at all, LOL. Now, the second room we had was one room down from ours towards the lounge--there was one room inbetween us--and their view was of--a big fat palm tree. Since it was grandma and grandpa's room, they didn't care too much, since the kids had the view in our room, lol. You could only see the castle from their room if you stood on the balcony all the way to the side, or bent down to the floor. I have to say, if I got that room, I would be very disappointed, and would ask to change in a minute!
Oh, and just so you know, I didn't fax a room request, I decided to just go with the flow this time and see what we would get. I think that you will have more success if you tell them what is important to you rather than asking for a specific room number--say, a castle view, or fireworks view, or on the first floor so the kids can run on the beach, second floor near the lounge, second floor because you don't want a balcony, whatever.

As far as Hawaii longhouse is concerned here is the view situation.
1501 is down next to the lounge and the view of the castle is partly blocked by palms on the beach.
1502 is also partly blocked by palms
1503 is partly blocked by beach palms
1504 is slightly blocked by beach palms
1505 is clear to the castle
1506 is blocked by palms on the grass in front of the longhouse.
1507 is clear with a good view
1508 is slightly blocked by palms on grass
1509 is slightly blocked by palms on the grass
1510 is a good view
1511 is a good view
1512 is a good view
1513 trees on the path block view of lagoon and castle
1514 trees block view of lagoon and castle
1515 trees partly block view on the left
1516 good view
1517 good view
1518 (last lagoon view room) slightly covered by foliage on the right but has a view of the lagoon and castle.

The upper floors may have the same blocked views but the 3rd floor of many of the rooms would clear the tree tops. I stood on each patio and took notes back in 2002 because this question comes up often.

Aloha

3503 & 3508 are both excellent views!
no problem w/palm trees blocking the view in either of those rooms :)
