Poly concierge or bigger room?

We just reserved 6 nights at the Poly for Dec/08 with Disney travel online. We have booked a standard garden view room with hopes with special requests we can score a room that is larger - the 476sq ft rooms vs. 415 sq ft- for our family while avoiding a parking lot view.

We wanted to consider Concierge added to the room but everything I can find indicates that standard rooms with concierge added will be in Hawaii building and will be the smaller rooms. - Is this true or can you get a larger standard room with Concierge?

Also from those who have experienced concierge at Poly is it worth to you to give up a larger room in return to get Concierge services?
we like the free continental brkfst, that will save us some money
hubby likes being able to go down to watch TV after kids go to bed

just looking for some pros/cons before we make the final decision to upgrade or not.

I had thought the regular rooms and the Club Level rooms at the Polynesian were the same size, since they are the exact same design.

It is my understanding that Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui have the slightly larger rooms.

You must stay in the Hawaii building if you book Concierge.
I am disabled and need a roll in shower.
A few years ago I tried to book a Concierge room with a roll in shower at the Poly.
I was informed (with the exception of 1 Suite that is located in Tokelau) all of the rooms with roll in showers are located in Rapa Nui. I asked if I could stay in Rapa Nui and pay extra for Conciege. I was told no-- that Conciege guests must stay in the Hawaii building for security reasons and I should try booking a different resort.

I was very dissapointed.

The rooms in the three newer longhouses are larger. That's Tahiti, Rapa Nui and Tokelau.

The concierge rooms are the "smaller" 415 sq. ft. size but that is still a large and comfortable room. We were a family of five and found either size room worked for us although the rooms in the newer buildings do seem huge after being in one of the other buildings.

Karrie, I don't think you'll recoup the extra expense of club level with the continental breakfast. And the TV on the second floor is positioned in front of the kids furniture and is always tuned to children's programs these days when we've been there. There is another TV on the third floor of the lounge that might work for your children. But club level at the Polynesian is so special.

Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Thanks for the replies so far. My husband was interested in being able to go watch the news or something around 9pm after our kids are in bed - hard to do with everyone in the same hotel room. Will there still be kids shows only being showed or can will he be able to watch the news or something more adult at that time?

All of the rooms are pretty big, though. We always stay at the Poly when we have 5 people because we never feel crowded.

We have stayed in Tahiti, (the larger room), and Hawaii (concierge). We didn't even notice the difference. Both rooms are plenty large!

Linda, there are now accessible rooms in the Hawaii longhouse! We have one booked for May. They've also added accessible rooms in some other longhouses. I remember Tahiti and Nuie at any rate.

But the location of Rapa Nui is wonderful as are the larger rooms with a powerchair to charge and store. Parking is so convenient as well. It would be my choice other than Hawaii.

When we were there in October, the 3rd floor TV was tuned to adult news, baseball etc. Your DH should be able to get his news fix there after bedtime!

For us, having a larger room is more important, as we don't eat in the room at all, and love the Polynesian's restaurants.

MK view costs more doesn't it? I guess you can request an upgrade, but you can book a MK view room.

MK view rooms cost extra don't they? It isn't something you request, it is just something you book. I've been booking them, anyway.

Have you been requesting upgrades and getting for no extra cost? If so, good job!

No, I meant Tahiti is only a request if you book a MK view. Sorry, it did sound as if I said you can request a MK view. It is paid, and unfortunatley we have always paid RACK rate!
