Poly Bus Problems

We did the same walk to the TTC and get buses from there. You can also plan to do a morning at Epcot and use the boat to get to DHS. The buses weren't too bad when we stayed it was the BB and TL buses that were the longest wait.

Since it has not been mentioned I just wanted to say the only bus you can not get at the TTC is to Downtown Disney, so for that you would need to take one at the Polynesian.

DW and I have been on many crowded disney buses. Neither she or I expect any male to give up their seat for her because she is female.

I agree. I stood on buses this past week with males seated and did not think twice about it.

The shared bus system is a seasonal thing for the Deluse resorts, at least it used to be. I had to wait for 13 buses to come and go before getting on one to go back to the All-Star Music resort, the one and only time I stayed there. They take ALL 3 All-Star resorts one one bus!

Actually it is an all year round thing. The only deluxe resort that does not share with another is the AKL and I would guess that once the AKV opens they will share with them.

I would never expect a man to give up a seat for me, unless I was either very visibly pregnant, 80 years old, or disabled.

I dont think its seasonal but I really agree with your sentiment. Ive never stayed value, and after seeing my first value up close last trip (ME went to one of them first, I think Pop) I never will. The bus lines were crazy, beginning of May. I understand why too, cheap rooms, lots of people. I'm not sure there is much they can do without huge cost/price increases because dealing with peak times by adding buses is extremely expensive in terms of labor and vehicles. Sucks though.

Bus sharing at the Magic Kingdom Resorts is not a seasonal thing, because everytime my family and I have stayed at the Contemporary the buses always stopped at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. Other times it would also share with the Wilderness Lodge. Plus all the Deluxe Resorts in the Epcot/Hollywood Studios area also share bus service.

Go to the TTC. No shared buses and the come much more frequently. Get a longhouse near there. Tahiti or Rapa Nui

And I don't either, but we appreciate it when they give one up for my mother.

Yes you get get on any bus from the TTC.

This needs clarity. You can get a bus to DHS, AK and the water parks from TTC. There are no buses to MK or Epcot - to get to MK you can take the monorail or the ferryboat, for Epcot you must take the monorail. You cannot get a bus at TTC to any resort, or to Downtown Disney. You must go to a park or Downtown Disney to access resort buses. You must go to a resort to access Downtown Disney buses.

Or holding exhausted children. Maybe its because I live in the south and gentlemen are gentlemen, but I still insist my teen boys give up their seats to ladies.

It was common place years ago when we first started taking our boys to Disney as toddlers for ment o at the very least offer their seats to women. But for the most part that is a thing of the past.

I guess I live in a bubble but I like it there.

I would not accept a seat from one of your sons. I am not elderly and I can stand. But I do understand your wanting them to offer.

Yes, I noticed all the people who don't expect men to give up seats to ladies are northerners. That is usually a courtesy thing you see in the south (along with holding open doors and such).
I would make my 11 year old ds stand up in a heartbeat so a lady or child could sit down - and my dh would do the same without a second thought.

I agree about the child holding too. I remember one night with my then 6 year old ds asleep in my arms (and I am only 5'2"!!!) trying to hold him at half my size and stand on the bus without killing myself. There were only about 3 of us left to stand, and there were dads in seats that could have put their young child in their lap to make some room, but no one batted an eye. And I remember it being hard to even hold onto the pole above my head because I had to extend my arm all the way up (again, short person!) Just one big reason I am glad to #1 be southern (sure it might have been southern men there too, but it might not have...just guessing the odds based on replies) and #2 that I don't ever have to rely on public transit where I live!

Good point, people won't even offer to put a 3-6 yr old in their lap to let someone else have a seat. Our last trip in April we stayed at the POR(hadn't stayed mod in over a decade) and I did notice more people on the buses being more considerate than those we have encountered when staying at the deluxes. I only encountered one person that I really wanted to slap the entire 10 days that trip on a bus. :rolleyes1

I'm from the North but still taught my sons that they give up their seat for a lady, or an elderly person. DH always gives up his seat on a bus or the monorail for ladies, children and the elderly.

i agree we yanks can be very polite...to polite people. ;)

The Tahiti is the longhouse closest to ticket & trans. center. We just spent a truly magical week there w/2 grandsons, 5 & 7.
Chose Tahiti because of its proximity to ticket & trans. center. Great location!
