Poly bldg request questions

I'm going with DH, DS (7), DD (5), DD (2). My DH will be attending a conference at CR for first 2 days of our trip. So I will "on my own" with the 3 kids. I want to be near the monorail, volcano pool, and a beach. Somoa looks good on the map, but the CRO person I talked with suggested Fiji. Any opions would be greatly appreciated. It would be garden view. Thanks!

Fiji would have a good garden view on either side but so does Samoa but the advantage to Samoa is that you are right next to both pools and the motor launch to the MK where in Fiji you would have to walk around the marina to get to either. Both are close to the GCH with Samoa a slightly shorter walk (we are talking seconds here). Maybe there are already a bunch of requests for Samoa and they are trying to spread it around more.

I have never stayed in Samoa, however, we were assigned to Fiji during our stay at the Poly in Oct 2001. I was pleasantly surprised by the location of this longhouse. (We had stayed in Tahiti in 2000)

Fiji is a very close to the GCH and not too far from the volcano pool. Our view (garden view) was of a small beach, the monorail and the Wedding Pavilion. It was beautiful.

Fiji was completely renovated in 2001.

I have requested Fiji for our trip in .... 38 days!

That sounds like a great room you had but actually Fiji was renovated in the summer of 2002 when we were there and opened backup in October 2002. Also Samoa had the same things done and opened back up this last Spring 2003. I stayed over in Tuvalu (next to Fiji) and as much as I like the location I felt the longhouses on the other side of the marina had a little bit better location. Just my opinion.

Here is my opinion. If you are going to be by yourself with the kids then dont stay in Fiji. I agree that I think the Cm is trying to dissuade you from Samoa. I just got back from Samoa and the location is perfect right next to the volcano pool, beach a short step away and Captain Cooks and GCH a skip and jump. If you are by fiji you will also have to put up with the luau music and crowds and boat noise (closest to marina). The view is nice in fiji if you get the marina view. The closest we stayed to that longhouse was aeotoroa. Let me tell you now with the new bus stop located so far away by the neverland club it will be a long trek back and forth with sleepy or tired kids. Try for samoa garden view or maybe tokelu but on the rarotonga side. We went through rarotonga. It needs a rehab and it smelled mildew but I have seen other posters say it was o.k. for them. Have 2 choices in mind. If you are not happy where they put you then politely ask to be moved. It will probably be busy at the deluxes from what people are posting. Also fax your request to the room assignor 3 days prior to arrival.
