We cancelled for March, not strictly because of the CDC warning but because of that combined with the risks of missing ports and/or testing positive upon arrival. We are vaxxed and boosted, which a few months ago would have been enough for me to say we're still going, but with Omicron being so contagious it feels all too possible we could end up testing positive without even knowing it. Not to mention spending all that money and then ending up being denied entry to one or more ports, it just doesn't seem worth the stress. We postponed for July and are hoping things have much improved by then.

We have a similar mindset but haven't canceled. Yet.
My main issue is, more than testing positive at the port, which wouldn't be the end of the world, because you get reimbursed & you go back home - having mild symptoms (or worse: if my DD is exposed bc some other kid caught it) onboard on day 2/3 of a 14 night voyage and then get sent to deck 2 to an unventilated room where you can't get out of for the rest of the sailing. Even then, being adults we would understand, but having a teenager that has dreamt of this cruise for two years, to be confined to a room for 10 days would be absolutely soul crushing.
I'm so conflicted about this. - Honestly, I'm just Wishing DCL will cancel and wait until the summer.

We’re still going in March, but driving instead of flying in case we test positive at the port. This will be our “grand slam” cruise!

Keeping our Alaska cruise and will only cancel if ports in Alaska start turning ships away.

Did cancel the New Orleans one but only because it prob will have too many sea days.

That’s why we cancelled and we would only really have a night or two on a five night cruise. There is no way our three year old could stand quarantine.

There is no way I would take any vacation where being held captive in a room was a possibility. Cruising is out for now.

Right? 1 or 2 nights would be tough to do, but can you imagine doing 5+ nights? With a toddler or 2 kids? Or a teenager? The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to cancel.

A lot of things are out at that point... except places you can drive home from. We're still planning on flying somewhere next week, but I'm really hoping we can fly home without being stuck in quarantine in a hotel room for 10 days first... :headache:

It's really hard to leave the country right now. I hope everything goes well for you.

We are not cancelling: sail date January 28.
There are a few reasons:
1. It's only a 4 day cruise with one port, which is unlikely to be cancelled (Cozumel).
2. I am taking my mom and sister. My mom has never been on a Disney cruise (2 cancelled during Covid) and I take her on 2 "bucket list" vacations a year since my dad died in 2016. At 85, She's doing pretty well, but I know things can turn on a dime. She also relocated to the midwest this past spring and winter is getting her down (used to live in CA). She will appreciate leaving the weather. My sister just finalized a rather ugly, long divorce (it was filed in March 2020, just as Covid begun and was finalized 2 weeks ago) and is super excited.
3. I test at work every week and my mom and sister will test next week as well as the Monday before we sail. We are all vaccinated and boosted.
4. The odds of us having to isolate on the ship are slim, with only 4 days.
5. My dh and I sailed on the exact same cruise in early December (which gave me the idea to take my mom and sister). I actually felt like we were safer on the ship, with the smaller numbers, there weren't a lot of kids and we tended to stay in the more adult areas (bars, the Cove, etc)

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Imo a new poll needs to be taken since it’s been almost three weeks now since the original posters thread was started ….

meaning a lot has changed since then … people’s opinions may have changed ……

We are fully planning to cancel our spring break trip. Didn’t book our airfare. Just waiting another week I guess to see if this surge looks like it will really pass. We definitely don’t want to quarantine or miss ports. PIF is 2/2, I believe. Just sad to waste our placeholder discount and credits

Are you on the WBPC? I am can't decide whether to go or cancel.

The closer we get to our cruise the more I’m thinking we will. I live in Florida and it’s such a dumpster fire of COVID here. I swear everyone is coming down with this newest variant. even though we are all fully vaccinated and have had COVID twice, it’s just making me nervous.

Even if I try and think about it by removing COVID from my mind, and saying its just the flu. Would I want to do something that will highly likely give my family and I the flu? No of course not.

It’s really hard trying to hold on. I’m still 6 weeks out. We almost canceled before PIF but my granddaughters really want to Go. This is an expensive cruise for us. And everytime I read things changing I just want to throw in the towel. Now to think we may not even go eastern really is the straw for us. While me and husband are driving, daughter & family are flying. Got great airfare, got great dvc rooms booked, dining booked so pretty sure this won’t happen. Ugh, just the thought of having to cancel everything is so overwhelming. My granddaughters 14 & 16, both got their boosters and flu shots this week, just for the extra protection. I’ve cruised twice this fall so know what to expect. So glad we booked 4E just for the extra outside space.

Yep.
We don't mind the test at port and getting denied boarding.
We don't mind protocols on masks, distancing, etc
Less of an experience doesn't bother us.
Only thing that is a major issue is getting quarantined on deck 2 if we are exposed or have symptoms.
The thought of being locked up without being able to breathe fresh air for 2 or 12 days is extremely disturbing.
We're leaning toward canceling.

…… and I made the innocent but dumb mistake of going back into my ships stateroom one year …. At 9:15am…… to use the restroom .
- yes - my room was on deck 2.
I opened my door and saw 8 people in white hazmat suits cleaning my room .
As I was leaving I looked back and saw one of them looking at me out of their rectangular shaped approx 5 inches by 8 inch visor peep hole .
- looked straight out of that scene from E.T.-
I could barely hear him or her breathing -
They had on what looked like a white vacuum cleaner Straped to their backs with a typical vacuumed Cleaner attachment used I’m guessing to clean down the room .
“2319!!”….. was also another thought that crossed my mind .

never again -
Gave me the heebby jeebys for quite a whiie .
Duh!
This is why they want you off the ship ASAP …
So they can clean the rooms .
Lessons learned there . Don’t do that again !

but …. I’m guessing that’s what they look like as they escort you down to deck two if you become Covid positive

and I too never want to meet them especially under these circumstances…….

yes - it stinks but I too will cancel no later than Monday.

T..T..F..N..

Exactly... A 14 day cruise allows for more days of being quarantined. No thanks.
