Poll- most overated and underated rides in disneyland?

Most overrated is probably Roger Rabbit. Or maybe (gasp!) Its a Small World.

YESSSSSS

I disagree with POTC (humbly, of course ;) Everyone has their own favorites for whatever reason) but I'd totally agree that RR is WAAAAYYYYYYYY Overrated. Bleh patooie :lmao: I'd also say Nemo.

Most underrated? Tough to say..I miss Swiss Family a lot :\

I think Monsters Inc. is under-rated (or maybe over-hated?). Considering how superior it is to what it replaced, and that they had a set ride track to work with, it's a great little dark ride. I love the ginger scent in the Sushi restaurant, the doorway scene is stunning, and the interactive Roz at the end is fantastic. Full animatronics would be better, sure... but it's great for a c/d-ticket dark ride.

Over-rated simply based on wait-to-experience ratio has to be TSMM for me.

Overrated: Space Mountain <-- what a snooze fest
Underrated: Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road

Overrated: Gadget's Go Coaster. It absolutely astounds me that the lines for this less than 30 second ride are over an hour long sometimes. I know, it's for small children, but seriously...

Underrated: Animation Academy. I show people photos we've taken in there and very few have ever been inside.

Massively underrated: Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Such a great place for the kids to just . . . PLAY! As much fun as Disney is, most of it is just in your face entertainment. No creativity or imagination (on the part of the rider) - it's all there for you. My kids will spend hours in the Redwood Creek area, especially if they have been at Disney for a few days - I think kids need to have some time to just play and be creative without it being spoon fed. Great place to exercise the body and brain.

Overrated: The Enchanted Tiki Room. I don't understand how anyone can possibly like it. We went at WDW once to get out of the rain and I found myself wishing I had stayed outside in the torrential downpour instead.

I also totally agree that the Animation Building (and Animation Academy) is underrated - we love it. And ITBAB - such a fun show - especially the surprise at the end! :)

What's so great about Disney is there's something for everyone to love.

That said...

Most overrated ... Or maybe (gasp!) Its a Small World.
Most overrated -- IASW. ...
...Overrated: It's A Small World....
...overated: IASW...

Okay people! Them be fightin' words! :goodvibes

It's it's a small world for crying out loud! It's children from around the world. It's peace on Earth. It's 10,000s of moving parts all working together. It's beautiful. It's feel good. It's happy. It's... it's... ack! It's it's a small world!

Okay, now that that's all cleared up! :flower3:

Really? Oh, I just love it to much. Sooooo wonderful.

Okay, so on this one, I am going to try to encourage you to go into the Tiki Room at Disneyland and give it a try. Even the most loyal of Walt Disney Wold lovers will tell you that Tiki Room, Under New Management (the show at WDW) is just plain awful and they want the DL version at WDW. You need to see the DL version. It's completely different. If you still hate it after that, you may happily stand in the rain instead of go inside. But you owe it to yourself to get DL's version a try. It's completely different.

. The rapids are overrated it was pretty tame. The lines for that were crazy and not worth it to me.

Sorry, I messed up the quote thing so it doesn't look right. Anyhow:

Please try the original Tiki room at DL in California. I love the original and hate the one in WDW.

Recently I wanna say August WDW put in a version of the tiki room that is more faithful to the original since the under new management one had a fire (i can only imagine Iago from the show on fire:rotfl2:) and it is fabulous compared to the atrocious under new management version.

I have to say it was fun this trip at IASW to try and find all the new dolls they incorporated from the disney films. I thought they would be obvious but it took some careful looking. Kind of like hidden mickeys. :)

underrated: Buzz Lightyear AstroBlasters. We *love* this attraction and I'm surprised the lines aren't longer when compared to say, TSMM. :confused3

Totally agree!

Agree. I really miss the SFR version of the tree.

I agree. I don't think it's a bad ride, but it always surprises me how long the line is for what it is.

Ditto on the regular vs. holiday version of HH as well as the Animation Academy!

Wait... what just happened? Are you talking about guns/bullets now? :rotfl:
.

Everything is so subjective something I like my wife or kids won't. I do not have the luxury of sitting down most of the time and and taking the time to analyze what would be appropriate for some and not for others, that just popped into my mind.

These types of threads have nothing to do with what I like or dislike, what it said here will not affect what I do or approach it. If the comparison bothered I apologize, but we all do not have the same lives, jobs, background, etc.

Have a great day,

Jack

It's hard to pick a ride that I do not like at Disneyland because all of them are fun in their own way, I'm not really big on the new Star Tours, I miss the old Star Tours the one in the 90s! LOL I just don't like the new version now, but I know lots of other people like it :) I also don't like Autopia. I really miss the Rocket Launchers that used to be in Tomorrowland.

Under-rated ride: I absolutely love the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride! It seems to get a lot more attention during the summer time compared to the off-season where I only have to wait 2 or 3 minutes to get on. During the summer it's rather popular! I'm always worried that this ride will be taken out though.

Finding Nemo is my favorite Pixar movie, but I found the ride to be underwhelming. I love IASW and Pirates.

Overrated: Toontown (last time we were there, we didn't step foot back in TT after the first time), Dumbo, Storybook Canal.

Underrated: I don't know. I love the majority of the rides!

At DL, I think the most underrated ride is the train. I hardly ever see a line for it, and I just can't imagine a visit to DLR without going on it. It gives you some fantastic views of the park and doubles as a great mode of transportation between lands if you're tired! I think some of the darker Fantasyland rides are also underrated, particularly Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Snow White.

At DCA, I think the Monster's Inc. ride is underrated.

IMO, the most overrated rides at DL are the Matterhorn and the Nemo subs. The lines are way too long for both rides and...I just don't understand why.

Most overrated at DCA: I'd have to say Soarin'.

Underrated: Winnie the Pooh, little noisy, but beautiful ride. Pooh has a special place in my heart because my 2 boys have always been fans. Also Monster's Inc. I think this ride is one of the best.

Overrated: Autopia! It will be a long, long time before I try that again. Stood forever in the rain, over an hour at least, and then the CM had to rescue my son whose car stopped behind me. Backed everyone up and took forever!

Underrated: I love Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters! I am always shocked that the lines are 10 minutes or less, 15 is the longest I've seen. We always ride it multiple times when we visit!

Overrated: I was not a fan of Space Mountain when it was Ghost Galaxy or whatever it is called for Halloween. I waited 60+ minutes to ride it and was very disappointed when you could see the "screens" that the ghosts are projected on before you got to it, but maybe that was because I was in the front :confused3
It just felt like a brighter Space Mountain, which took away from the magic of it being a dark coaster.

Most overrated rides on my list would be Finding Nemo , Roger Rabbit and
Ariel's undersea ride and Goofy's sky school only because it is next to impossible for a big guy to your legs under that bar!!

Most under rated would be Mr . toads wild ride ,storybook land and casey Jr.(
I think it is so amazing how only Disney can make rides simply magical that anywhere else would probably be boring or lame

One of the most over-looked rides in DCA is Heimlich's Chew Chew train. As you go through the ride different scents are released. Heimlich's narration is funny for parents and children. All of Bug's Land is well themed! :thumbsup2 In DLR, I would say Peter Pan's Flight! When I went to the parks when I was younger I bypasses this ride for the big thrill rides. As an adult, I look back and say.."What was I thinking?" You could spend an hour describing all of the awesome details on this ride. For me, I feel like I am a kid again every time I ride it.
As for overrated? I would say all of Toontown. While I understand the theme of a cartoon land, after going through the town once there is no reason to return. My DD5 always wants to bypass it when we are in the parks, which makes us happy! They could do wonderful things with that area of the park. Also, Monsters Inc....ugh..talk about being underwhelmed!

Wait a second.... Monsters Inc underwhelms you but Heimlech Chew Chew train is underrated? Are you crazy? :crazy2:
