The day when the Three Caballeros was added was the day that the Mexican boat ride died a horrible death! The seriousness and overall tone was completely RUINED with utter nonsense from Donald Duck and his friends (family or whatever the heck they are.) The ride went from a pleasant, relaxing boat cruise to a non-stop, ADD adrenaline-inducing cacophonous Disney vision of HELL!

If this Frozen ride is created with as little imagination, attention to detail and overall lack of care as the Little Mermaid ride was, it's highly unlikely we will set foot again in EPCOT. We've had it with the "dumbing down" refurbishments/replacements/eliminations of attractions that we've seen going on in EPCOT for the past 15 years or more. Like a previous poster said, Walt did NOT envision EPCOT to become Magic Kingdom Light!!! Where are the high standards that were originally set??? EPCOT is evolving into a place I'd hoped I'd never see!!!
:thumbsup2couldn't agree more !

Frozen is a no brainer. .

Literally. Lots of brainless decisions being made around WDW lately.

I love Maelstrom, but I can't express an opinion about a Frozen ride that doesn't even have concept art.

I can. Frozen was easily the worst movie Disney has put out IMO. I think the Rescuers Down Under was Citizen Kane in comparison. No interest in seeing it happen in ride form.

I'm completely over the whole Frozen thing. I'm not sure what's making it so popular to begin with, I didn't notice anything spectacular about the movie that set it apart from any of the others :confused3

That being said, I have no problem admitting that I'm guilty (as a 28 year old) belting our Let it Go at the top of my lungs (hand gestures included) at numerous rest stops while DH and DBFF looked on in embarrassment...:lmao:

:thumbsup2 Same here, I didn't think it was a great movie at all. We have the movie because I have a 6 yo DD, but even she isn't as into it as most girls. She is way more excited to see Doc and sofia at HS than A & E. But on the other hand I have skipped maelstrom for years now because it's just not even worth standing in line for IMO, but I'd try the frozen version. I don't see how adding Donald Duck "ruined" Mexico, and frozen won't ruin Norway. This is still Disney, so adding a Disney "touch" won't ruin the entire country thing. But I looks pretty split on how everyone feels about it judging by the poll.

Agree. I'm just sad that I won't get a chance to ride Maelstrom one more time...:(

I broke the news to the BF yesterday, he was heartbroken. I started saying what had happened and he was like, "we'll get to ride it one more time in February, right?" and I was like, "...."

I can't help but laugh at you people saying "Frozen wasn't all that great" "Frozen is a passing fad" " Frozen was horrible." Accept the fact that you are in the minority. Frozen won the Best Animated Picture Oscar, it made billions of dollars. It is not a passing fad and whether you like it or not Anna and Elsa will join the Disney Princess troop and will be around forever. My daughter will probably show it to her daughter just like I showed her Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast from my childhood, and just like my mother showed me Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella from hers.

Without reading through the entire thread:

I wonder why this Frozen ride wasn't put at HS. They could put it in the building that was supposed to be the Monsters, Inc ride. It just seems like the more logical choice.
I do agree with adding a M&G though, the lines for that are just outrageous! I am so glad my DS has no interest in A&E, but I feel for everyone stuck in that line!

I always loved Maelstrom but I have to say on my last visit when it was over I thought to myself, "that's it?" Somehow I had it built up more in my memories of past trips.

Our whole family are huge Frozen fans though so a Frozen ride will be a big hit with us. So I voted for the Frozen ride.

If I had to take a guess I'd say this is a way to draw more families with young kids to Epcot and the WS. I hear people all the time say they think Epcot is for older kids and adults. A Frozen ride will be a big draw to those with younger kids and maybe get them into the park when they otherwise might not have given it a second thought.

I'm all for a Frozen ride, but the world showcase is about celebrating, embracing, and learning about other cultures so making a ride for Disney's newest big movie doesn't really make sense to me. :/

I voted for Frozen. I like the movie but am not a fanatic about it. I just think that Maelstrom is nothing to write home about and I like change. It keeps things interesting.

Sorry Bugsdaddy, I misspoke. What I kinda meant was B&B in its time was a fantastic movie and was even nominated in the "big boys" Oscars, against some really good movies of the :( time. Not best "animated" movie, but actual real best movie Oscar. It basically was the reason best animated movie Oscar was created. It was a technological achivement in its time, and a major step forward in animation.

Now its not as hugely popular. Certainly popular and my personal favorite and with beautiful songs (done by the best writing duo since Sherman and Sherman), but the craze has died down a little. Yes, it has its own resturant, but look at how many years it took to get one in the park. Meanwhile, Frozen (certainly not in caliber as B&B - personally I think its in the category of Hercules or Hunchback) now has its own park event, huge M&G, and now will take over a whole land in WS. That's not right. Even if little girls and their parents love it to death and Disney sees it as a cash cow, its still not right.

I never thought of that! You are probably right! Although we love all the parks, EP is our least favorite. But, I am interested to see what they do with the Frozen ride. Maybe it will take the pressure off 7DMT FP+! LOL :rotfl2:

My kids love Frozen, so I'm happy they'll have this ride to enjoy... However, Maelstrom was always one of my favorites, and I'm sad to see it gone.

I can't believe so many people are against this. I always thought Maelstrom was such a BORING and outdated ride! This will bring life into that side of the park and it won't ruin the Norway experience... now parents will more likely bring their kids into World Showcase!

So many people just can't accept change at WDW (no matter WHAT they do) and change is what Walt Disney was all about.

Come on people, Frozen is the biggest animated move EVER since Snow White that Disney has put out. Of course they are going to take advantage of that and Norway is the perfect place for it!

Maelstrom was always just an OK attraction for our family. It was always a bit disappointing. It felt like a five-part story with parts 3 and 4 missing. Just when you started to settle into it, it abruptly ended.

Yet I am somewhat bothered by bringing a mythical land into Norway. It feels wrong. The only way many of us might feel comfortable with the placement of the new Frozen attraction would be if the writers, art directors, etc. of Frozen said that the Frozen world was designed based on Norway specifically, but they made up a fictional name to give it a more fantastical or universal feel. If Arendelle is just a composite of many countries, having it in Norway doesn't make cultural sense - only financial sense.

Well I haven't dined at Norway in years since they added the Princesses. Now I guess I'll skip it altogether.

Don't think it fits for World Showcase or displaying Norway as a country, it's more of a Fantasy location belonging in Magic Kingdom
