I'm keeping our 5 night to Alaska because we had to cancel our Alaskan for this year - but we're only doing the 5 night as we already have a 7 night on the Wonder in January 2017. Once dh figured out how much Alaska was costing per night he just about flipped his wig :rotfl2: Although I did upgrade us to an oceanview last night from our inside as it was only $150+taxes more. Not sure why I didn't book that originally last week - think I was too concerned about being midship/higher deck.

You'll be glad you have an oceanview. Midship is the best for not feeling the ship's motion. What deck are you on?

Well, it won't go up to the rates of Disney, that is for sure...but popular boats like the Breeze and the new Vista may go up a little. As I said, I booked during a release discount so I paid $1800 for two for an oceanview in Family Harbour..the regular OV's were cheaper. I have seen the Cove Balcony's, which they might have some left, but I just didn't like them...If I'm going to get a balcony, I'll get one on a higher deck with unobstructed views....but I really wanted to stay in the Family Harbour section so OV worked best for us.

I checked a few days ago and they are now going for 2200 for the same week. So I did save $400 by booking early. This is the week before Christmas departure on 12/17, 7 day Eastern. The following week is much higher.

I get still get an ocean view room on the Vista in May for less than the Sept cruises, and there's only few rooms left. I've always had great success booking cruises after the PIF date, but we don't normally sail when kids are out of school. This Summer is a first for us. People do cancel and cruise lines do have to sell those rooms. I'm not particular about the room. This is the only way we can cruise 3 or 4 times a year....one cruise at a time. Every DCL cruise I've been on has been paid for after the PIF date. It doesn't work for everybody, but it works for us.

We're on deck 2 aft (a few cabins forward of the elevators). I would rather be higher but I don't want to pay another $1000 just to be 4 decks higher. On our first cruise (and our second coming up) we've been deck 6 midship so we'll see how this goes ;-) But I am glad for the oceanview (and the large porthole, not the two small ones!)

We booked. Only because my wife promised our granddaughter we would take her on Mickey's boat. After that, we will be back to RCCL

I think you'll be fine. We've had rooms on Deck 2 mid and aft and never had a problem. The only problems I ever had with a lower room was when it was all the way forward. Have a great time!
