Policy on Gold Pass Refunds

I think with all the new quarantines from certain states Disney is going to have to refund passes. It was a mess to begin with so I don't understand why Disney can't release more information. Or the the option to pause the AP. I would have taken that option.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. Nothing gets done at Disney quickly or efficiently.

They have stated you can cancel your pass and get a refund. What is not clear is how it will be calculated.

I read elsewhere that they will consider the cost of days used in comparison to multiday ticket costs...rumor off course.

But, the other missing piece is they have not said when people have to decide on taking extension vs. refund.

So, the info is clear as mud right now, unless you are someone who the 5 month extension works

Based on no one getting a refund? I must brand Pass Refunds as a fake.

Please prove me wrong.

I requested my refund in April for the difference in time lost due to park closures...Still nothing! The cast member did say it could take up to 90 days. We are over 60 right now!

My understanding is that until they decided on how much, the clock didn’t start...so, it seems like May 28th would be the start of the window for refunds?

I have a little bit of a different deal...maybe someone else has this same situation.

Our last trip was in late October/early November. Our Gold APs were set to expire about two weeks later. We renewed, of course, and would have used them on our trip we had scheduled for last month. Needless to say, we haven't entered a park using our renewed AP's yet.

That said, our Gold AP tickets are showing up in MDE as "renewal certificates" with an expiration date of 12/31/2030. I would be perfectly fine with them simply starting the clock on these when we first enter the parks using them this November...but I fear that it won't be that way.

So, it puts me in a bit of a quandary. If I *knew* they'd be treated like I hope the will and the clock doesn't start on them until I enter a park in November...then I'll keep quiet and not say a word and be happy.

But, if they're treated like a normal renewal certificate and the clock started on them as soon as the previous passes expired, then of course I would want the partial refund. An extended expiration date of 2-3 extra months doesn't help us at all, but a few hundred dollars toward our renewals in November would.

Anyone else in this same situation...or have any idea how this will be handled?

Soooo.......we have a 10 night DVC stay booked over thanksgiving. We were just going to buy 10 day tickets or an annual pass about 60 days before to allow for fastpasses, but clearly that has all gone out the window. Now we are stuck with a 10 day reservation and no tickets, meaning no ability to reserve park days next week.

With no tickets being sold, it looks like an option we do have is to buy gold passes now and link them to be ready for June 22. However, what if COVID hits hard and we end up not being able to go? I realize the annual pass could just stay in our account until another trip, but that a lot of money to be tied up in park tickets when I am unsure how long it would be until we travel again. If you have not used your annual passes and cancel your trip, does anyone know if refunds are possible?
In late April we scheduled two trips, one in August (FW) and a DVC stay during the Holidays. Since stays were in flux at the time, and I didn't know if I needed a Gold or Platinum pass, I called the Passholder line and asked a few questions.

IF I purchase a Gold pass, but don't take the August trip, would I be able to upgrade to Platinum by calling. I was told yes, that due to the pandemic, Disney was being flexible and upgrades could be done over the phone.

If I had to cancel both trips, would I be able to get a refund of the unused voucher. Also told yes.

I hope this was accurate information.

Welllll? Given all the WDW confusion and inaction? DW & I may be in the same boat.

Gold AP's, original EXP 5-27-2020. Extended to 9-27-2020. Worthless to us. Still yelling "partial refund" - NO WDW action.

Smelling this unfolding pattern? We got lucky. We bought two NEW Gold Passes, "Good on first Use", 6-18-2020. JUST before the lockdown on new pass sales. Got our receipts, been billed, passes on MDE.

Now - we got lucky. I just don't like HOW. We had to distrust WDW, and treat them like an enemy. This does not make us happy :(.
