It wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be the parents, you are more likely to be murdered by someone you know than a stranger. I thought it was odd when they went to meet the Pope and left the other children behind, if my child had just been snatched I can guarantee you that I would not let my other children out of my sight for a second, yet they travel without theirs quite a lot.

I don't think though that we will ever really know what happened unless someone confesses.

this scenario (mom killing baby then claiming baby was abducted) has happened rather often in the states...
the one that sticks most in my mind was the mother who killed her baby and then claimed it was abducted in a kmart ....
she eventually admitted the truth....the explanation was that she had extreme post-partum depression....

Portuguese police say they have found firm DNA evidence that the body of Madeleine McCann was in the boot of the family's hire car five weeks after she went missing, sources have told Sky News.

Sky crime correspondent Martin Brunt, speaking from Portimao, said police were "adamant" they had found the most "damning" evidence yet implicating either one or both of the McCanns in their daughter's death.

The evidence came in blood samples returned from the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham.

"Police say it is the most damning evidence that has been returned by the tests," Brunt said.

"It shows, as far as they are concerned, the presence of Madeleine's body in the car five weeks after she disappeared."

He continued: "The evidence suggests very strongly that it was not that her DNA had been transferred from clothing or from a cuddly toy.

"The allegation is that the DNA shows a full match of 99%. According to police, it shows the presence of Madeleine's body in the boot of the family's hire car five weeks after she disappeared."

This is a subject that will split the nation. On one hand as a mum I find it unbelievable the Mcanns are to blame but the way the world is it seems you have to doubt everyone.

I just wonder is the Portugese police want this case solved by hook or by crook as it is making them look unprofessional ????

I always thought from Day one that it sounded a bit dodgy....

Still think they weer wrong to leave a child in an apartment on their own in the first place. I would never do that with mine...

I am in two minds about the whole situation. First of all I think they are absoloutly irresponsible for leaving thier children in the first place. I would never ever do that.

With all the media coverage around the McCanns I find it hard to believe they would be able to hide a body. 25 days is a long time. Whats to say the hire company didnt abduct her and kill her. There are so many if's and buts here. In some ways I can see that they may of been set up, due to no leads. Some ways its apparently people that are the closest are the murderers.
Either way its such a sad story. I cant imagine how scared that poor child was. It brings me to tears to even read any stories about this.

If the parents were involved in the accidental death of Maddie, could they really be so cold and calculating that they could have hidden her body so well that it could not be found in the first place, then recovered the body and moved it in a hire car, all the time keeping up the their guard and leading the media campaign. It seems almost unbelievable.

I really don't know where this case will end I just hope that it ends soon so that the family, especially the other two children, can have some closure.

I find it hard to believe that the McCanns wouldn't know that they were prime suspects in this case and would hide a body so well for weeks then have the affront to use their own car to move it, they are not stupid people (although leaving a child alone could admittedly be classed as stupid) so they would know a lot of fingers would be pointed at them, could they really be so arrogant to think they could cover their crime so well with the worlds media following them? I don't think so. Their courting of the press i find almost obscene and I wouldn't be surprised to find they are heavily involved in Maddies disappearance but don't believe for one second that they'd try and dispose of her body themselves.

That's what I find hard to believe. I find it easier to buy-in to the idea that they killed her accidentally (say by administering tranquilisers so they could carry on their social lives) and then panicked. As I said before, though, nothing would really surprise me.

I find it hard to believe - how can they be as composed as they are over this length of time and to fly around Europe bringing her disappearance to everyones attention and to have a fund to find her - seems strange.

Could it be the person who has killed Maddie, if she is dead, set her parents up to be the killers?

I agree with Netty, the press were watching them like hawks for weeks ,aswell as they had family/friends with them alot of the time...how would they manage to transport a body, then put it somewhere when everyone knows their face! There not completley stupid if they did do it they would know the dogs would pick up the scents etc..Something really doesn't fix right with all of this.

I do think they are involved.
I also thinks possibly others were also involved after the fact.
Certainly I belive that maddies little body will never be found as its in the sea.
The way in which they ahve played the press in some ways is very interesting, also the proffessional PR and the way in which at any time suspicion moved to wards them, the "family & friends" screamed blue murder.
I also do not know how Robert Murat fits into all of this, unless Maddie was originally hidden there and then moved to a site which had been searched already.
there still has been no explination of the original statement from them that they checked on the children every half and hour which was subsequently dismissed by others in the drinking party.
Also, where have the twins been? Would you, if your girl had gone missing, leave them with anyone after that??
Finally, it IS suspicious that when the Police, who really should have done this at the satrt stared to question them, they decide to come home "for the sake of the twins"?????
The comments about the press and how copuld they get past them with a body in the back, they are creatures of habit. There is no way they would stay outside the McCanns villa 24 hours, they enjoy their booze and comforts too much.
It was always said of Kate Adie for example, that so long as there was a Holiday Inn at the war zone she would be there.

Look like its now moving quite fast Jeanette.

Reports are that the Prosecutors have sent the file to a Judge and that within 10 days a respoonse to any prosecution will take place.
The speed they are moving, I don't think it will be the full ten days.

I won't go back into leaving them on their own night after night instead of being cared for by family, frends or even the babysitting service. That has been done to death I think.

Many criminals have felt they are above being caught, and that includes Doctors like Crippen and Shipman. Many criminals have made a mistake that has tripped them up. Perhaps they felt if they had not pushed suspicions would have come round to them quicker?

Its all speculation until we know what the Portuguese Police have.

that is so true, we don't know what evidence has been held back from public knowledge yet, as theres sure to be some. I stick by my opinion that they are heavily involved - whether thats down to sheer neglect of being actively involved in her harm, I;m not sure, whichever way they did not do their utmost to protect their children.
