I am hearing many comments on points, as low as 150 and as high as 320. I know that when you travel and the size rooms needed are determining factors. I would like to pose the following questions:

How many points have you started with -

How many points have you upgraded to -

We started with 230 and added another 150 a year later. The 380 total seems to be about right for us.

275 at BWV and 275 at VWL. Haven't added on.....yet, no plans to either. 550 suits us just fine !

We started with 232 OKW resale and added 70 at BCV a couple of months later. :D

Just bought 150.

Haven't upgraded. Doubt I will.

(We only want to use our DVC every other year).

There are a couple of polls out here. Keep in mind that people who tend to hang out here may be more likely than the general population to need a lot of points and add on.

we bought 150 in Jan and we just called this week for a 50 point add-on. we have not even been home on our points yet, but are planning a big family trip and thought now was a good time to add some extras. Now with the extra points we will bank them this year and the two years of the add-on points and our original contract points will cover the big trip and we won't have to borrow points from the next year.

We started with 200 at VWL. Enough to get a one bedroom in mid Jaunuary for 7 nights.

Seven months later we added 70 points at VWL. That gave us enough for a two bedroom in mid January or a 1 bedroom during February school vacation. Again for 7 nights.

We are now adding a resale of 210 at OKW. That will give us almost a week in a 2 bedroom at OKW towards the end of August.:D (5 or 6 nights, I forget)

We have 170 points. I would love to add on but I don't think we are likely to in the future.

We have enough points to get a 1 bedroom at Hilton Head for 10 days every year in Adventure Season. We will probably alternate with 10 days at OKW ever so often in Adventure Season and have more than enough points for these type of stays. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have more points, its just not financially feasible for us and I knew going into DVC that we would only be able to afford somewhere around the minimum points and still vacation other places from time to time so I plan around it. You can be very creative when you have to be!:D

I've just about run through my initial 300 points (I think a trip is somewhat more of a magical beginning than cash).

I have no plans to add on. That's because it will be a while before I return to Disney (after Food & Wine!). Next up is Hilton Head and after that Vero Beach if I can arrange it to coincide with a launch window. If I'm lucky by the time I've gone to both for a week Disney will have built another offsite timeshare (lol). Otherwise...its to the Institute I go ha ha he hee...

But seriously...for a single 150 works great. I throw some cash on top if I want more...for example my next trip is split between AKL and hopefully BCV.

We started with 230 at OKW in early 1999. Then added 70 pts more at OKW to give us 300. Then we bought 100 at VB in early Jan(2002) without even going there first. After going to VB in July, we added 50 more at VB to give us 160 there. We like having 1 DVC resort onsite (OKW)....and 1 off-site (VB) with the 11 month booking window. :)

We started with 150 at HH and then added on 50 more a couple of months later. Then we decided we needed to go to HH and WDW every year so we added on 150 at OKW. Then BCV opened and well... we just couldn't resist adding on another 150! I doubt we will add on any more. We almost have more points that vacation time right now!!

We started with 200 at BWV, then added on another 100 about a week later! We have also added another 100 points at HH. Would love to do another small add-on there, but my use year is sold out:( .

We have 150 points and I doubt we add on. We are empty nesters and will be very happy in studios. We usually stay at the AS's. This is a step up and a little more in cost for us. When you consider travel costs into the mix as well as park tickets the 150 points should work fine for us. We love going the week after Thanksgiving which we are doing this year again. We aretalking about the Food and Wine festival foe next year. By watching when we go we should get around a week every year. We have no desire to go in the summer, too hot and crowded for us. So we are different on this board I beelieve with just 150 points.

We bought in at OKW for 430 points (split in two contracts) then added on 170 at BCV before the price increase, and just added on another 270 @ BWV. All in 6 months.

BUt we knew we would be sharing this with Family and friends.......

We started with 270 at BCVs and just completed a 50 point add on there. We tend to go more than once a year, and because of my job, have to go for long weekends or summer, when points are higher. We also invite friends along, so we use the bigger units.

DVC/BCV 2002

Started with 220 at OKW in 1997 and made trips that included stays of 2 nights BWV studio, 4night GV OKW, 3 nights 2 BR OKW,
5 nights OKW 1 BR, adventure season, 7 nights 2 br Christmas OKW, 3 night Grand Californian ,3 nights Disneyland Hotel July 2001 and upcoming 6 nights BCV Oct with 169 points left in this use year for the 220 contract. Also rented out 33 points once. With banking and borrowing many things are possible with careful figuring and planning especially if you can avoid the Friday, Saturday high points. Added on another 150 at BCV in 2002 and think that will be enough. Now if I can just find cheap airfare.

Started out with 600 at BCV and added on another 200 after a couple weeks.

We initially purchased 150 at BWV and 100 at Vero. Later we purchased a resale of 150 at HH. We to to Vero in late winter, HH in the autumn, and every other year combine Vero with BWV. Even though we're empty nesters, we have grown to like the 1 Bedroom over the Studio because of the kitchen and the ability for one of us to be up late or early while the other sleeps undisturbed. We'd really like about 50 points more at Vero.

Started with 200 at BWV and added another 100 there just before it sold out. Very tempted to add on at Vero as it's becoming more difficult to get rooms there, but our budget is tight in this economy and probably won't loosen before Vero sells out. Oh well, maybe a resale later on:cool:

We have four contracts, but upgraded those contracts several times before they closed. Our last closing was # .007, and we now have 850 points.

VWL .000: 450
VWL .001: 150
VB .004: 150
VB .007: 100

Have Fun...

And YES...I believe you can have too many points. We are running out of vacation time to use them, but I guess there are worse problems to have!
