POFQ wierdness??

Forgive me my ignorance, but what is wierd about that? I have stayed deluxe, deluxe concierge, & outside of Disney, just about every other standard of hotel/motel (inc. Motel 6, Ramada, Radisson, Days Inn, etc.) and had good/bad experiences/amenities.

I guess I just don't know what you're referring to :confused3

What I meant by "wierdness" is that I've never been to a hotel or motel for that matter that had a TV on the dresser. It was wierd to ME. Maybe what they're trying to do is create a very "homey" feel, because a TV on a dresser would remind me of somethinf I would do at home.;)

This is the only thread Ive seen about POFQ- so Im going to ask here. Do they (POFQ) have a slushie machine @ the food court? That was a huge hit this last spring @ POP Cent. with my boys (including my DH) They loved filling up their mugs a few times a day.
I booked a prefered room should I get just a regular room?:confused3

Thanks Nettii:goodvibes

I wasn't looking for one, so I'm not absolutely certain, but I don't think so. I don't recall seeing one at any of the mods for use witha refillable mug. Pop may be alone on that.
Also, we may be the only ones, but I didn't find the food all that great at POFQ. The Beignets were just greasy fried dough, and not even very warm when we got them. I was going to get a chicken Caesar salad one night, until I saw the CM take the prior guest's chicken out of a microwaved plastic bag, as in no hint of the chicken being freshly grilled. That was one of the things we really liked about CSR, much of the food was freshly prepped - or atleast you could pick food that was freshly prepped. Like the taco salad meat was already cooked, but the fajita meats are grilled in front of you, to order.

Netti, there are lots of threads on both POR resorts.

I agree that one big advantage of this resort is that it is compact. The other mods are quite huge to get around, and that can eat up quite a bit of time.
Theother thing that Iwould say about POFQ is the pool has really cute theming. The water slideis a little tame, but that my be a good thing if you've got smaller kids. Even if you don't, they will probably like the dragon pool. It's much more elaborate than the theming at say, GF's pool.

There is a big POFQ thread located here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=530340. It has a lot of good advice and information.

When I was at POFQ this past April/May there was no slushy machine.

I'm not sure what you mean by "preferred" room. POFQ has standard view and water view, but not preferred. Personally, I would not pay extra for a water view. My 4th stay at POFQ is coming up in 39 days, and I have never had a bad view from any of the windows of the standard view rooms I've stayed in.

Thank you for the info Tinks Pixieduster and Mickelov'r.
I meant water view.
No Slushies:sad2:
Im going to check out the site right now.
Sorry to every one else for hi-jacking the weirdness thread.

A few from our December 2006 trip.

This was our first time at a moderate. Out previous three trips had been at WL and BWI, so we were a little worried it would be a letdown after deluxes.

But we absolutely loved it, loved the layout, the bus service, the food court, the pool. Will definitely stay here again.

You took some lovely exterior photos in the mist!
Oh, I want to go back so bad!!
62 days to go.

Thank you for the kind words.

That mist was there on our first morning as we walked to the food court. It made discovering the resort that much more interesting. Plus, I didn't notice the hidden mickey in the light over the pool until I downloaded the photos. That was a fun surprise, too.

Yes, the tv is definately on the dresser at POFQ. Just stayed there in May. I found this a little weird myself. Not sure why, just different I guess. We didn't think the rooms were that great at POFQ. I think it was the dark wood on the dresser and headboards. Made the whole room feel kind of gloomy. We really preferred Caribbean Beach resort. Nothing really wrong with POFQ, just very small and seemed to lack the Disney magic a bit. Will probably try Coronado Springs next time, and then either head back to CBR or try POR.

In my never to be humble opinion -- compared to other moderates, there aren't any rooms "too far away" from the food court / pool / laundry room / pool bar / bus stop at POFQ. Typically, we just get a regular room -- lately we've had to get river-view rooms in order to get king-bed rooms (just myself and DH).

No slushies. The only resort that I know of having these = Pop Century.

We stayed at POFQ this past Feb. and LOVED everything about it! What a lovely resort!!!! The TV on the dresser is really nothing to worry about, it might look strange in a photo, but when you are in the room, it is not anything to give a second look at.
