POFQ to Boardwalk area...?

What is the best way (using WDW transportation only) to get to the Boardwalk area from POFQ? Taking the ferry to DTD and then catching a BWI/BC/YC bus? Or taking the bus to DHS and then taking the boat over?

I would take the bus to DHS and then either walk or boat to BW from there. The walk takes about 15-20 mins, the boat is about 20 mins, but you may have to wait for a boat to come in and load.

The walk is actually quite pleasant....but since it looks like you're going in August, a few thoughts. The walk is out in the open, with little to no shade except for underneath the roadway bridge. If it's midday, it can get a tad toasty out there. Or, if it's raining. But...you can make that choice when you get off the bus. Just a heads up.

I would jump on the park/downtown bus that comes first. Get off that bus and board a Swan/Dolphin, Yacht and Beach, or Boardwalk bus. The walk from DHS is long, and the boat can take a while.

Oh my goodness! I didn't even think about that! I'm a teacher who has had 8 snow days so far this winter, so I guess you could say I'm not exactly in a "warm" frame of mind.

DH and I probably wouldn't mind the heat, but his parents might. Thanks for mentioning it.

sixcats - Thanks for your input, too! The AC on the buses might be the deciding factor.

I generally avoid the DTD buses as I've had the worst luck as far as wait times go. I like the idea of taking a bus to DHS and then walking or boating over. The boat ride is glacial in speed so make sure you leave enough time. It could take you 60 minutes to make the journey.

We will be at POFQ at the end of the month and on our first night we plan on going over to B&C over at BC, so I had thought about how we should go over there myself. We decided that we wanted to also go to DTD so we are going to take the ferry to DTD (love taking the ferry) and then after we are done shopping, we are going to take the bus over to BC. Now the next day we have breakfast ADRs for Cape May Cafe at 8am so we plan on taking a bus over to DHS and then either walk or take the boat over to BC.
