If my figures are right....I have 255 Days until I leave for the cruise...or in other terms......8 Months and 11 Days

6120 Hours, or 367200 Minutes

I have 180 work days left....5 work holidays to get past and 3 more family Birthdays...

Oh, lucky you......I've been giving thought all day....for what it's costing me to take my DGD on the cruise with me, I could take the whole family to WDW for 8 days......oh good grief.....get these thoughts out of my head...I REALLY want to go on the cruise

I was contacted by a travel club (I call it a time share - they like to call ita club!). First the guy told me Disney owns most of the cruising companies, to which I laughed off - he has no idea what he's talking about...and then tried to convince me he could get me extraordinary fares on cruises. Sure - cruises no one is booking or wants to go on!

That said - I put him to the test to see what he could do for this cruise in particular. I beat his price by $300 PER PERSON! So, I felt pretty good with my rate given how booking early with DCL really can make a big difference (on board discounts certainly help too - lesson learned - always book the least expensive dummy date on board and ride the savings once you know where you want to go!).

I'm pretty sure I'll fly home the same day the cruise ends, but hope to arrive in Orlando between Nov. 28 and Dec. 1.

Or so I thought! Last night I checked airfares on Kayak, and they dropped from the $349 I had been seeing to as low as $222! It required a slight adjustment of dates, but I bought my ticket on Delta for Nov. 30-Dec. 17. I checked again 4 hours later, and the fares were back up to $349!

Got to love airline pricing!

I did not even price airfare once the decision was made to use FF miles, so I am thankful to not play that game this round. I am also thankful our next trip is a driving cruise to Galveston (in July). I abhor car trips, but air travel has become increasingly difficult to maneuver!

When my husband used to fly fairly regularly on business, I would use AA miles to fly to Florida. Now that he rarely travels on business, those miles are a lot more precious! We earn miles with our Citibank AAdvantage credit card, but save them for pricey tickets - like flights to Europe.

Nancy - we are the same - these days a good bit of our miles are that credit card! With remodeling our kitchen and paying for cruises, the miles have added up nicely so that we could get these and still have enough miles for a Europe trip next year (hopefully).

It sure is a wonderful way to get some fringe benefits.

Hey Gang....I have to report some sad news....I cancelled the cruise..but it's not all bad...after talking with my girls, it was decided by all of us to take a trip to WDW in September for 9 days instead. As much as I wanted to go, I wanted to have the time with both of my girls, not just one...so for a little less money, we get 9 days at the house of Mouse....I'm ok with this.....I will continue to watch the threads and will maintain the Post your cabin number thread...and from time to time I will pop in and say hello.

I'm sorry you cancelled the cruise, but I do understand your reasons. I hope you and your girls will have a great time at WDW in September.

I am so sorry to hear this. I was sad when you left 3.0, but figured I would still be able to meet you on 4.0.
BUT- as you said- it's all good. More days, both girls and less money.

I am sure there will more more cruises, trips and Podcast events in the future- maybe we will meet up on one sooner or later.
