PMS in a Handbasket--Don't be afraid, just bring us food... Part 23

Good morning! I tried to post earlier, but holy crap the DIS is having issues!
Robin, great WM story! That was Santa who knew your name. He's making a list, checking it twice...... He does know who's naughty!

Sorry, no nap Caro, I have been outside enjoying the beautiful weather all day. I could probably dose off for a bit.

Phors had me this close -------- to seriously considering DVC. I even talked to DH and he said it was worth discussion. So I have spent all day looking into it. I finally found sites with comparisons and how to decide if it was worth it to you, and all the prices and points etc... End result? No need to discuss it. For this Value minded cheapskate I just don't think it is worth it to us. I would rather keep working on doing a cruise every few years and one family trip and maybe one couples trip a year, plus the PMS meet. That would still work out less than DVC would cost us per year with how frugal I am! :rotfl2:

What is the largest amount of days your kid has missed of school due to vacation?:confused3

I homeschooled so mine don't count! They missed lots of time for vacation then!

Well DD12 did miss 5 days in 1st grade for our first WDW trip. And she missed 5 days earlier in the year to go see John's grandmother who only had 2 weeks to live and I said if we were driving all the way up there we would spend time with my family too, so it was kind of a vacation. So technically she missed 10 days that year. And that was the max they were allowed to miss.

And this year they will miss 5 days for vacation right after Spring Break.

Scraps, you still homeschool? Did I know this?:confused3

Well, since I generally get off work only during school breaks anyway, this year was the first time we have taken my sons out for vacation. They missed 3 days. HOWEVER, I am not opposed to taking them out for 5 days for an average to struggling student, and up to 10 for a good student. I think family is the most important thing a child has. Work and learning can be done outside the classroom. I'd hesitate to do more than those numbers. Not saying I wouldn't, just that I'd have to really think about it. But if I thought I could keep the learning going at the same rate, and not cause any undue hardship on the social aspects (including with the adults in charge), then I may consider longer. I think a lot of people focus on the learning and forget about the huge social ramifications though.

Nope, homeschoolED--past tense. I put them back in school last Feb. Pulled my oldest out in Feb of 2nd grade and put her back in Feb of 5th grade/DD7 in 1st grade. They are doing great in public school. She loves middle school (most days) and DD7 loves 2nd grade. And I love them being there and not in my house/face all day!:rotfl2:

Why do people have to go make me lose my jolly?!

Myster called me. Some woman did quite a bit of damage to our bumper in a parking lot and left. Good thing was the person who witnessed it stuck around until he came out of the store to give him the plate number, car description and a description of the person drving.

Merry Christmas to you person driving. You are in for a surprise!

It's a good thing none of my neighbors are around or I think they would be calling the men in white jackets on me. I am in my wheelchair in the front yard, foot splint on propped up on another chair, stool next to me with my necessary items, laptop in my lap and my MP3 player on singing Meatloaf tunes very badly. Earlier it was Disney songs!

And here come DD12. I need to start singning louder! :lmao:

Thanks Paige. I appreciate the advice. He won't miss learning anything in this class. 3rd grade here is a repeat of 1st and 2nd Abeka. Oh the guilt.:guilty:

LOL! Did he call the police? Do they do a hit and run for parking lot things?

Well DD12 brought home the "there is lice in your child's class" note :headache: So both girls have it in their classrooms. We have been using a tea tree shampoo for a few weeks now so hopefully it will help. I have been getting on her case about putting her hair up in a ponytail because I want her to leave it down. I just gave her permission to put it up--in fact I ordered her to!

Ah thank you. I knew there was something I was forgetting to do. Time to get the nurse back down here.

I can't BELIEVE you are warm and we are SO DARN COLD!

Myst, I still have a giant dent from a hit and run at Target. They took off too. Glad yours was caught. Sneaky bugger.

I'm going for a walk!:cool1: If I am not back in an hour call Shug and have her drive over with Mr. Roadie and drag my butt off the road and back on to my couch.

In reality I am just going to try to get down my driveway and maybe around the circle in front of my house. I should be back in a few mintues.

Always make sure to take your cell with you, in case you fall and can't get up! ;)

Well we are about to get your cold weather, possibility of sleet and freezing rain over night, then rain all day tomorrow.

I used to have a little blue Geo Metro, that poor little thing got hit and run more than once. :sad2: One night I came out of work, worked closing at McD's, and when I opened the door it slammed shut on me. :headache: Someone had hit it right in the side panel in front of the door. There were two other places on it that had dents that I didn't put there.

Well there goes the rest of my day...the excursion information has been released for the repositioning and Mexican riveria cruises.

:woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: Whatcha gonna pick?

I have no idea. :scared1: Too much to choose from and normally we don't do excursions but we want to on this trip. :scared1: Oh well I have a good amount of time to decide (with DH's input of course :rolleyes1 ).

I am struggling with this same issue as DD may be attending school next year. Could blow my whole October trip out of the water.

Oh and Hi everbody!

Afternoon. Migraine is better after a second dose of Maxalt, but now I feel sick--mainly tummy, but also a general sickness. Hopefully it's just the leftover migraine and not a virus.

Myst, glad someone stuck around to give Den the plate info. :thumbsup2

Bomb, I'm also deciding how long to take Jake out of school for WDW whenever I bring him on his surprise trip. I would like to take him out for a whole week, but probably won't take him out that long. He has a leftover 4 day pass plus the water park option, so I'd like to be there for 5 days. I don't know what to do. He missed 1 day when we went to Chicago in October and will only miss 1 day when Ron brings the boys to California next month (he gets Mon/Tues off for MLK and an in-service day). I hate decisions.

DM3, your thread is funny. I do think you've acclimated to your weather. :rotfl: I remember when we moved back to this area after 5 years in Houston. We moved back in early summer and everyone was complaining about how hot it was here, but it seemed on the cool side to me.

I'm heading back to the couch via the restroom. Maybe I'll bring my computer with me. Or maybe my internet tablet if I can find it (my DH has decided he likes it and I'm now fighting him for it  ).
