Ok, glad I am not the only one that sees this as an incredible opportunity! Now I just have to convince DH ;)

I'm off to the Dr and I'm going to inform him I'm NOT happy with this little side effect. I don't wanna eat cardboard for the next 18 months :crazy2: When I come back someone quiz me on cavity classifications.

What kind of cavities are we talking about here? :rolleyes1

Shuggie--I will IM you whenever the heck I feel like it! Got it???!!! ;)

How is everyone today..of course..I haven't read back beyind this page.

Tiffer, how's things! :dance3:

Looking for opinions!!!

Ok, heres the deal, Rebecca has decided to not join cheerleading due to an opportunity arrising through school. Its a 12 day trip to Italy! She will be 16 at the time, July of next summer. We can make payments on it, not sure if its in the budget but she wants a summer job to help with the cost.
Rebecca is a really good kid with a solid head on her shoulders. To me this is a chance of a lifetime, and if we can swing it, I think she should go!
My mother called before freaking out about it! M is very hesitant but the 3 of us are supposed to sit down to talk about it tonight. M, DD and I (not my mom) ;)
Again, I am very close to her and know the 12 days away will be hard, but I really think this is just too good to pass up for her.
I want honest opinions here!!!
What would you do?

Why hesitant???

If you REALLY want to know my opinion, here it goes...I had a similar chance when I was her age. No, my family couldn't really afford it, but I REALLY wanted to go. They could have scraped together then money, I could have gotten a job, we could have made it work. I liked a a little podunk town with nothing to offer. Really nothing. And this was important to me. They wouldn't do it. I was mad and resentful. I ended up doing other things that summer which involved going away and getting accepted into a Youth Conservation Corp, living on a college campus, doing work at a wildlife refuge. Fun work and I met a lot of people, including a college boy.... The rest is history. :rolleyes1 Thankfully I didn't get into TOO much trouble that summer, but I would have learned a lot better things had I gone to Europe like I really wanted to do. ;)

Having said that, Ben wants to go to Costa Rica this summer for a month. We just can's swing that. Keep in mind that we've been paying for him to do all kinds of different youth religious retreats that he's been wanting to do, which have costs us many hundreds of dollars (I think the Philly thing cost us $600 or maybe it was more--I put it out of my head once I agreed that he was going--for 4 days  ). And he's already submitted an application to be a youth UN ambassador (maybe the program is called something else, but that's what it is) for a period of time during when the Costa Rica trip would be. And the UN thing is free to us. With my DH's paycut, the UN thing makes so much more sense on more than one level...

Anyway, my point is that I don't mean that you should sacrifice everything for Rebecca to go, but if it's all all reasonable and possible and she really wants to do it (and it's ok to have her help pay for it), I think it would be a wonderful thing and something that she can really only do when she's young. :thumbsup2

Izat an invitation?

Good afternoon everyone...I hope everything is flowing like it should for everyone and that the rest of you are having a good day.

I have to just say:

If I give you a dollar can I buy a clue? :confused3

Her boss left! :cool1:

Yeah!!!!!!!!! (thanks for the free info! :lmao: )

ANGEL: I think she should go!!! I still regret never doing anything/going anywhere when I was young. It will be such a great adventure, and help her learn to be out in the world and be an adult! :yay:

Angel..........I'd send my boy. :thumbsup2

T.......I ended up having to take a kid to the nurse and do an office referral anyway. No nap. I had time for some mashed potatoes and milk.
