PM EMH drops from THREE Hours to TWO Hours

They made a blatant attempt at the opposite idea a couple of years ago.

They cut Epcot's regular closing time from 9PM to 8PM only on Epcot's PM EMH night.
That meant that IllumiNations ran at 9PM every night (as it still does)
EXCEPT on PM EMH night at Epcot, on which the IllumiNations show ran at 8PM.

And, on that night PM EMH at Epcot ran until 11PM for resort guests.
Not exactly a "late event."

That plan didn't last very long.
Just a few months.

Same thing occurred at AK where regular summer closing time was 8pm except on EMH evenings when the park closed artificially early at 7pm resulting into 'extra crowded hours' of 7-10pm.

Bumping-

because it's coming...

It's just a basic dollars and sense to me. We use the PM EMH pretty religiously. Hubby has a love riding the carousel with Goofy at 2am! However...even we found that it was empty the last couple of times, and was hard for us to motor through it (with a swim break-midday). I can't think we are alone, as it was pretty empty in that last hour as we were heading out. The cost of cast member hours just makes it seem like it's a bit wasteful. There are some rides that just sit empty for at least 45-60 minutes, and waste of cast member pay.

While we love it, I can understand it at the same time. Doesn't change my opinion of WDW, nor will it affect me staying on property. 2 hours is still an added extra in my book, off-site guests get 0 EMH.

Unfortunately your hubby wasn't going to get to ride the carousel with Goofy at 2 AM any more anyway. Cutting the EMH characters was last year's cut.........

There are very few PM EMH that run until 2AM.

Most end at 11PM or Midnight.

We used to hit the Sunday MK PM EMH in May (Canadian long weekend week before Memorial Day). Usually was a 1am or 2am visit. Since we departed late Monday, we always lasted it and had agreat last night of a trip.

There are not many 11PM as well. I just checked schedule from now till February, most MK EMH end at 12 or 1AM. Epcot hours stable till midnight and AK/DHS jumping all over but their regular hours are shorter to begin with.

I can't imagine staying offsite.

Part of the Disney experience for us is the 24/7 Disney vibe. That's 1st on the list of why we spend more. 2nd is free dining plan and 3rd is EMH.

We rarely attend that last hour of EMH anywhere.

But all that said, it's a bummer they cut it.

Interesting, few months ago you claimed you are done with Disney, that it was your last trip, and here we go, new trip is planned. So what brings you back if everything is so bad?

I think, you are exaggerating a bit. We have DVC, so we still take our DGK once a year. We've cut our trips from two-three a year to one. We no longer book ADRs, . Although in the past, we dined (TS) once or twice a day (OOP), not "free". We now have most mealls in our Villa. The souvenirs aren't much to write home about and DGKs spent their money at US, this year..

So, instead of doubling our DVC points, we are spending our $$$$$ elsewhere.

Actually, I am not exaggerating anything. You pointed out few months ago on several threads that the trip you were about to take was your last one and you would even cancel it if not for deposit and disappointed child. All because you were so disappointed with company which is still very clear from your posts, so what changed your mind... or maybe it is not as bad after all?

Oh dear, there you go again...same old, tired tactic. I guess, you want this thread closed and this discussion finished? Sorry, not taking the bait.;)

What tactic? You said what you said, now you deny your own words, or you did not mean it back then?

Here, I am not good with quotes, but this is your post, you can check it, "Absolutely Unacceptable" thread, post#456.

I would want prior notice and the choice..

I've made no bones about it, if not for a non refundable deposit and disappointing my grandkids..we wouldn't be going this year. I'm not happy with the current management or the trend..

We normally visit, at least, twice a year, but after our spring trip (been booked, over a year)...no future plans. We've reached, the tipping point. We'd already cut back on dining. The quality and menu choices have decreased, but prices have increased. The merchandise is generic..half of MK is under tarp or closed...shows reduced, etc., etc.

So what changed your mind, considering your complains about Disney are strong as they used to be?

KellyNY, how about leaving the personal attacks out of the discussion? If you want to fight with someone, do it over PM, please.

I'm sorry if it came across this way, was not intended to be an attack, just wanted to understand why some people claim they are done every time something happens in Disney and continue to go, contradicting themselves, that is all. :)

I just wish you'd stop trying to convince people they don't really mean what they say.

No, I can't understand or defend, diminishing a brand. The quality has suffered on many fronts...the food, souvenirs, attractions, events, etc. We are paying more for less...a watered down, "cheaper" version.

I see, Iger as the "Jack Frost" of Disney. Remember, what Santa/Frost did to the North Pole?
~TLSnell1981, whether you care to admit it or not, you are in fact "defending" this "diminishing" brand with your hard earned cash. You can't say one thing and do another and expect people to take you seriously.

~I agree with you, but only to a certain extent. I have since adjusted my expectations and now choose to focus on the positives because I "want" to keep loving Disney World and I want to be super excited about my vacations. If I were to just focus on the negatives or declining aspects, I would hate the place, seriously. Lighten up, I wanna see you excited! :goodvibes

~Getting back on topic, when Disney was asked as to whether or not the one hour EMH reduction is permanent, they declined to answer. So, it could be a temporary thing. :goodvibes

And I wish you would stop attacking my posts on different threads and then edit your posts quickly before modertors could see.

If that bright blue part was what she said, then there is nothing in there about not going back. I've actually seen her say at least once previous to this thread that they were cutting back from multiple trips per year, but never that she wasn't going back.

I think this is hugely significant and fans should be slightly worried to be honest. Management can only cut away at the flesh so far before they start hitting bone.

I just read a quote on Touringplans that suggested that 75% of all onsite guests DON'T EVEN USE EMH.

So that said, are they really cutting away at something? If so few people use it?
