Which is why, IMHO, they are shortening them to 2 hours. I also think this is the same reason for all the "early" Saturday closings at MK this summer in comparison to past years. Why keep the park open for so few guests?

Yet another reason to avoid evening 'extra crowded hours' as we always refer to them. Especially since they've already scaled back regular park hours (or even in some cases they artificially shorten regular hours on EMH nights to make them even more crowded).

Our strategy has always been to oly go parks that have EMH during EMH, and only if another park is not open (so basically, late night Epcot and MK nights with an occasional HS night) so it's not really a HUGE deal to us anyway, but no doubt, the lost third hours stings a little bit.

This can't be related to FastPass+. I've been repeatedly assured everything about it is going to be "fabulous".

That's pretty much the only reason I like to stay on site. PM EMH is my favorite. I don't like having to wake up early when I'm on vacation.

I'm glad this won't be in effect when I go in October, or I'd be cancelling my package and staying offsite. October has many days when MK closes at 7pm already, if you take 1 hour out of the PM EMH, there's even less time for me to be at MK.

Might as well just wake up early enough for rope drop and just stay off site. At least I'll be saving quite a bit of money.

I'm going to have to start agreeing with those who think that Disney is going "downhill". It's really sad to see prices go up and then so many downgrades.

Taken all together, along with the cutbacks we've seen in other areas, makes me question the stability of the parks & resorts sector as a whole.

Either the accountants are stepping on the line and seeing what they can pull off before being pushed back by other areas of the organization, or there are deeper issues at hand (either organizationally with too few people recognizing guest experience as important to the bottom line, or something financial that we don't know about). Is Disney really as well off as we believe they are?

For the EMHs, it stinks, even moreso for those going in slower times (when EMHs are still pretty darn busy). Instead of DHS being open until 11pm on an EMH night, it will be roughly 10 (they close at 8 quite often). Epcot will be 11s, and MK will be either 10 or 11. While it's only the loss of an hour, it's an hour that, in the slower months, is more prone to be occupied than the hour during the busy months (I'd assume that more people, no matter the time of year, would be out and doing stuff between 10-11pm than 2-3am). Of course, not saying it doesn't stink for everyone who enjoyed PM EMH, just seems that it'll hit the times where the parks close earlier even harder.

I usually don't complain about much of anything Disney does, but this gets me upset. Ticket prices increase every year as well as prices of rooms, yet now they are gonna decrease operating hours in one of the major perks of staying onsite? This hurts the people who visit during the less busy times of the year when operating hours are already at a low. Not a fan of this, that extra hour does indeed make a difference.

It's called a cost-benefit analysis. Is it worth the costs of staff, power, and other things for the parks to be open when you have such a decrease in crowds? As you said, the later the PM EMH, the fewer the crowds. As such, they have a large number of staff (and a large amount of costs) for a very small group of people that is not really spending additional money.

Honestly, it doesn't bug me at all, but I don't do EMH. I stay onsite for another reasons.
