Pls help me understand renting points

Hope this is the right place. Please explain to me how to find out how many points I need for a particular stay . Then if I purchase the points from someone one here, where do I "spend" them to get my reservation. I am NOT a DVC member. I just want to rent a villa.

"renting pts" is a misnomer. you don't actually rent pts, you rent a reservation. you would contact a DVC owner who would make the reservation for you if possible (DVC is a timeshare and timeshares typically book well in advance).

Merlee, you need to read all the stickies on the DVC Rent/Trade board. (You have to be logged in to see it.) Basically, the DVC member makes the reservation for you and you pay the member for their points. They've been going for $10-$12/point lately. At the top of any of the DVC boards, there is a link to the point charts where you can figure out how many points will be required for your stay. It will vary depending on resort, type of unit, and when you want to go. Be careful...renters tend to become owners! It's addictive!
