Well, I just called MS as well and to give my guide the benefit of the doubt, every piece of information she could pull up said the dedicated 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds. So she called the Beach Club and was told the same thing, none of the 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. She could only assume there was a plan change somewhere along the line. I am really upset by this and I am going to write to the Membership Statisfaction Committe and let them know.

Providing dedicated 2 bedrooms, only to put a couch & a bed in the second bedroom? UGH...

Cris and others, I spoke with a few people today and no one knows for sure why there isn't 2 queen beds, someone thought that it might be an oversight (not sure about that) but everyone I spoke with told me to write a letter, they said the more people who write letters the better possiblity that when they replace the couches, they will replace them with queen beds instead.

Well, I'm not a BCV owner, but I'd write a letter... The logic about the whole thing just escapes me!

Yes, I thought the oversight comment was kind of interesting as well! On whos part was this an oversight?

Anyway, If you are disappointed at the fact that there are not 2 queen beds in the dedicated 2 bedroom as we were told the address to write the letter is:

I'm a little surprised that since they put 2 Queens in the dedicated 2 BR units at WL, I suspected they would do the same at BC. As it turns out, it's much cheaper to equip and maintain a room with 2 queens with regular bedding compared to a pull out. A good pull out mechanism is very expensive. At Grande Ocean, they just wen through and changed out all the rooms that would accomodate 2 Queen beds replacing the pull outs. Saved about $250 or so per unit if I remember what I was told at the owners meeting.

Actually, the mix up doesn't sound that far fetched. If someone took the number of 2 BR units and ordered that many pull out fulls instead of just the number of the lockouts, they're stuck. There's also the possibility that they did this on purpose since BW is that way.

Dean, everyone I talked with at MS as well as my guide today told me that DVC really thought that they had come up with a good comprimise at VWL so they were continueing this at BCV. As you know all of the 2nd bedrooms at OKW have 2 queen beds and all of the 2nd bedrooms at BWV have a queen and a sofa. At WLV they tried this concept of having the 2 bedroom dedicated with 2 queen beds and the 2 bedroom lock-offs with a bed and sofa and it got really positive feedback so the plan was to do this at BCV. No one I spoke with at DVC actually beleived me, they all had to call over at BC themselves. I actually think what you are saying might be possible about ordering all 152 couches so they just had to use them. Either that or that got a really good deal on the couches if they ordered the larger number.

OK, here's my letter-- want to critique/suggest changes before I send it in:

DVC Member Satisfaction Committee,

I am glad to be a new member of the Disney Vacation Club and look forward to many years of richly enjoyable vacation experiences. I would like to commend my guide, Randy Krueger, for his helpfulness and patience in guiding me through the purchase process—he could not have been more friendly and professional.

Though I have not yet seen the Beach Club Villas in person, I have via internet postings looked at quite a few pictures—it appears to be both elegant and comfortable—I look forward to bringing my family “home” at the first available opportunity.

I have, however, learned of an issue that is both puzzling and discouraging. It is being reported that NONE of the 2 bedroom units, NEITHER lock-offs NOR dedicated units, contain two queen-size beds in the second bedroom—this despite the fact that the promotional literature upon which mine and others purchases were at least partly based represented that SOME units would contain two queen-size beds in the second bedroom. I would draw your attention to the written description provided in the document Introducing Our Newest Resort: Disney's Beach Club Villas-- “Two-bedroom vacation homes feature… either one queen-size bed and one double-size sleeper sofa, or two queen-size beds in separate bedroom.” It is my sincere hope that the facilities will be brought into line with the description upon which our purchase was based. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Wow! That sounds much better then the letter I wrote! Wish I could go get it out of the mail now! Honestly, that sounds really good, and if they get enough feedback such as this, maybe they will do something, if not now, then at least in a couple of years when they replace the furniture! Thank you!

For what it's worth, I have two kids sleeping on the BCV sofa-bed right now, as they have been for the last 5 nights, and they don't seem to mind.

A pull out is fine for kids, but I made my reservation for a dedicated 2BR for my adult children. Last year at BWV only one could sleep on the pull out, it simply is not comfortable for 2 adults. I would have reserved an extra studio if I'd known and now it is too late!

I just got back today from BCV. We had a 2 bedroom dedicated. the room was #478. Don't ask for this one unless you really like walking. It was the farthest away from the lobby. But right next to the fire stairs. Lugging the groceries up 4 flights was not fun but the elevator was a long walk to it, and then a long walk to the room.
The room had one door entryway which brought you into a small foyer. On the left was the double room with a queen bed and a queen sofa pull out. where the kitchenette is in a studio was closets. Lots of closet space. This room had a medium size balcony, large TV and double sink. The bathroom had a tub and shower.
The living room kitchen was arranged nicely, but the padding on the bench seat next to the table was hard. this room had another sofa pull out, and a small balcony. they need to have some hooks or towel bars somewhere for the dish towels and pot holders. I didn't have pot holders in my room, and I called down for some but they were never delivered. And no paper towel holder. We had a roll on the counter that we brought from home.
The master bedroom is arranged just like the WL master bedroom. The shower seemed larger. I also liked the fact that the toilet had a door. It made it seem quite a lot more private.
there are no towel bars in the shower, and nothing by the sink in the master tub area. there are also no soap dishes on the sinks and the soap gets ugly sitting on it. also, they should have some kind of shelf or somewhere to put your leg when shaving. It is hard to hold your leg up in the air and shave at the same time. Not a big problem for most of you guys, I know, but it is to those uf us with nicks on the legs. No hooks on the doors for clothing or housecoat either.
Our master bedroom had a medium sized balcony also.

I met a woman who was staying in a handicapped room. It was on the 2nd floor. I don't remember the number, but their balcony was HUGE. I think next time I will ask for that one. Oh, and by the way, she was the only person who decorated her balcony for the 4th. I wish I had thought of that, it looked great. Peggie

Thanks for the report. Was wondering what you thought of having a pull-out sofa in the 2nd BR?. We were down there this past week(OKW) and viewed the models in rm 106 and 108 at the BCV's.

If you are going to write a letter of complaint to the member satisfaction commitee, may I suggest the following format. This was taught to us in a specialized business letter writing coarse our company paid for. The idea is to tell them in the first paragraph what you want and in the second paragraph the reason why they should do it, and how it reflects on them. The letter should be short and pleasant. The following is only an example. Please do not use it as a form letter. It would lose its effectiveness.


Dear Sir

I believe an error has been made and should be corrected immediately. The sofa beds in the second bedroom of the dedicated two bedroom units should be replaced with a queen size bed.

When we bought at the Beach Club we where told there would be two queens in the dedicated two bedroom units. It is hard to believe that placing sofa beds in all of them was an oversight. It also does not reflect favorably on the name “Disney”. I feel that I have been misled.

I was not happy with the pull out in the 2nd bedroom, I also had older children with me. And two of them did sleep on the sofa. they said it was ok, but the bed was much more comfortable.
I asked for the 2 bed room also and they said all had the pull out. Not what they had advertised.
But we did enjoy the location of the resort, not the room location.

I just typed up my letter of complaint to Member Satisfaction.
I am going to mail it today. I think that if enough of us write or email to complain something may get done, at least when they go to refurbish.
I was wondering if there was someplace we could email our letters as well? I looked on the official DVC site, and couldn't find anything. Anyone know?

I haven't gone back and reread all the posts so I apologize if I missed something. I just wanted to comment that all previous DVC owners should have known the configuration of the rooms at BCV way in advance. I recieved an announcement and sales brochure showing the configuration of the rooms last fall or early winter ( can't remember the exact date....sorry). This brochure or packet of info would have went out to all current DVC members at that time. Anyway.....the room layout pictures clearly shows that there would be a bed and a sleep sofa in studios and in the 2nd BR of the 2 bedroom units. Soooo.......I can't honestly say I was deceived since I knew this all along and I am really surprised to find out that others thought they were getting two regular beds in the 2nd BR. Where and when were buyers deceived? Did they show 2 regular beds in the model units at WDW instead of the bed and sleep sofa combination? Regardless.....it seems buyers would have received some literature which showed the room layouts. I sincerely feel bad for those of you who thought you were getting two beds and now find out that isn't the case. I'm also surprised that current members on this board didn't clarify this to potential buyers. Lightbulb..... I've got a feeling maybe the vacation guides are saying you get two queens in the 2nd BR which sorta leaves the impression there are two regular beds. Obviously, I'm confused about what is really going on.
ADDENDUM: Just got out my guidebook and the dedicated two bedrooms at VWL show two queen-sized beds. Maybe the guides are as confused as I am with the various layouts at the different resorts. Just food for thought.
