Please recommend a GOOD Guide !

Byron is our guide. He is a classic gentlemen. We highly recommend him.

Looking for a GREAT guide?
JIM MCOY
He has been fantastic, always calls us back if he doesnt know the answer to one of our questions, he says it, then looks for the information. We have used him 3 times.:wave2: :love1:

I have David Miller and he has been great. He really worked with me and my family in getting us exactly what we wanted with owning at AKV.

Ron Brumbaugh - extremely efficient and knowledgeable about DVC - has been there since the beginning!!

I just dealt with Byron yesterday for my purchase. He was cool to talk to, and was impressed by my research (a.k.a. you guys :) ). Of course, since I knew exactly what I was doing I was probably the easiest sell he ever had... :)

another satisfied mike brunson customer, we started out with rose dahill, but she left and then we met ricardo quiroz on cruise and added on through him, then he got kicked upstairs, so we met mike on cruise and have now finally bought points through him.

we started to buy a couple of other times but it just wasn't the right time, but he was so patient, and understood. he's been very helpful every time i have called and responded to my calls, gave me cell number, and email, as well. i've liked all our guides and am so glad that we never had to change because of dissatisfaction.

p.s. i couldn't get anything out of him regarding gcv, either.

experience from our recent christmas trip is that the resort valets have all the latest info and will share it gladly.

Michelle MacAlister is our guide. She is very prompt with callbacks, she is knowledgeable and friendly. I could not ask for a better guide. She was assigned to us in 1996 when we hemmed and hawed about joining, she called a few times, didn't push, and when we decided not to do it, she let it go. We called DVC again in 2003, and the rest is history.

I hardly ever call her just to ask a question, but I have and she's replied in a timely manner. I know that she does not work weekends.

Once when we called her for an add on, were put on a waiting list, and I actually found a resale and closed before the waitlist came through. If I remember correctly, I didn't call to cancel the waitlist for 50 VWL points, and when she called to say that the points were available, she accepted the fact that we had bought them with grace.

We've never met. She's heading for Vero about a week before we'll be there in March. She's the sort of person that I would like to meet, I am glad she's our guide. She has 2 DS's and so have I, there's a bond right there:love: !

Well it looks like my guide finally came through for us. Even though we have not received the updated paperwork yet I just logged onto the DVC website and I see a change in the vacation points detail. What I see now are two member id numbers. One id number is my original OKW 250 point with a June use year. The second member id shows two contracts - one for 50 points and another for 100 points, both with an October use year. This is exactly what we requested.

I hopes this is the end of my minor saga. We will shortly be owners at AKV, sight unseen. That's ok with us as we owned OKW for over a year before we stayed there - we actually stayed at VWL first. We haven't found a "bad" resort yet , just some that we prefer more than others. My wife and I know based on our DVC and AKL experiences that our recent purchase will be one that we will truly enjoy for many years to come. My daughter is so spoiled that when we drive onto Disney property her first words are "we're Home !"

Many thanks to all !

Our guide is Gib McCain, he has always called us back when we have had questions. I called him a couple of mo. ago when I first heard about AKV and he called back a few weeks ago when he was finally able to "talk" about it. He has always been friendly and no pressure.

When he called back a few weeks ago to tell me about AKV at the end he said "but I'm sure you already know all of this from Disboards"

Gib is a great guide! He was very patient and thorough in answering my list of questions before we purchased at SSR last summer. :thumbsup2

Could anyone recommend a guide that picks up the phone when you call or at least responds quickly to your message, and is prompt and accurate in meeting your requests ? I'm not going to name names but our present guide has been a less than pleasant experience lately.

Here's some backgound - we own at OKW ( purchased resale in 2000 ) with a June use year [this is important later]. We've stayed at AKL four times and have always thought that if DVC ever built there it would be the perfect place for us to add-on. Fast forward to a few months ago when we received a call from the new DVC guide that had been assigned to us. We thanked him for the call, and also mentioned our interest in a future AKL DVC. At this time the boards had rumors of both AKL dvc and Contemporary dvc floating around.

February rolls around and AKV becomes official. Hot diggity dog !! our favorite non-dvc property will now be DVC ! We talk about it, look at the finances and decide to call our guide. Spoke to him a few times and then decided to do an add-on 2 weeks ago. Requested a total of 150 points to be divided as follows - 100 point contract to be financed , 10% down and 50 point contract paid outright with both contracts having an october use year. With this use year we would be able to go through Thanksgiving, Christmas and the Spring Break times within our 100% banking deadline.

Waited a week, no charges on the credit card and nothing from the guide. Called him and the contract had not been submitted ! A few days off / sick / computer problem was the reason. I let it slide because I know they have been busy with all the interest in AKV and my own daughter was home with strepp so I could empathise with the sick part. I get the DVC Fedex box today. One 150 point contract, June use year.

Hello !! Was I talking just to hear myself speak ?!? At NO point did I express that I wanted a single contract of 150 but 2 contracts totaling 150 and had stated numerous times that I wanted the use year for the add-on to be october - NOT the same as the primary contract ! Needless to say we are at this time at a minimum somewhat irritated. 'Bout ready to take my guide and throw him in front of the next Disney bus ....

So - can you help a fellow DVCer ?

I wasnt aware anyone got a choice with who their guide is.

Ok, I'm feeling quite stupid here, but what do you use a guide for, other than purchasing more contracts? :confused3

I don't even know who our guide is! I know it used to be Edwin Rivera, because his name is on the brochures and the cards in our glossy "buy me" materials, but I also know he doesn't work there anymore from the Disboards.

So, what do you guys use the guides for other than buying? Do I need to cultivate a relationship? (I've got gardening on my mind right now)

I just wanted to update those that were kind enough to reply to my original post was to the outcome. We gave the guide another try and we have received the updated paperwork today. As best as I can tell everything is as we wanted it. Due to the specific nature of our requests we have a second master contract with two subcontracts. This gives us what we wanted - one contract of 50 points paid in full, one contract of 100 points financed 10% down + developers cash of $800, both with an October use year. All the charges posted on our c/c add up to the correct amounts. We will shortly be official AKV owners :thumbsup2 !

I agree Gib has to be one of the best.

Yes Gib McCain is one of the best. He has helped us through everything and with our 3 contract add on's and always returns calls (even on days off). We cruised with Gib this past January and he was great to talked to on board and thats were we started our AKV add on.

I was just down at WDW last week and had two friends who did the DVC tour. Gib was our guide (my own guide is Bobby Corsello who has been fantastic, but already had a tour when we were able to go). One of my friends is a timeshare owner and she was so complimentary afterward about how DVC was the BEST presentation she'd been to - no pressure, informed guide (and easy to look at - hee hee). I don't know if she'll end up deciding to buy (they already own 4-weeks) but she did enjoy our stay at Old Key West (her first time at a DVC resort).

Regarding Bobby, he has always been prompt at returning calls, even when we've had to play phone-tag when we were getting ready to add on in December.

your original guide is the one who you buy from, but after that if you decide you want to change, you just pick a new guide and they will change it for you. we have had three guides now, our first retired and our second was promoted, we met the last two on cruise, and now we have bought contracts through all three.
