Please Read... the Tag Fairy is very upset

While I do not really pay all that much attention to all the tags... I do love my one little tag, which I did kind of ask for, a long time ago, before all of this! That way, I know that I was tagged with something that relates to me, not something meaningless and silly like, "Will act like an idiot for hot gooey brownies....."

But, what I am here to post is... Just why is there all this much fuss and negativity over the Tag Fairy anyhow??? I mean, so what, people are making a big game out of this tag fairy thing, clapping, etc... Seems like so many people have tags, that yes, it is indeed human nature to want to belong and be able to be a part of the fun!!!! Especially new people here, and those who feel like regulars and may wonder how they have gone 'Unnoticed' for so very long...... So what is the big problem!!!!!

I hate to be the one to kind of point out the big polka dotted elephant standing right over there in the nether reaches of the DIS, but.... what I have noticed is all the whining BY THE TAG FAIRY(s)???????? "Play by MY rules.... I'M gonna take my ball and go home.... Etc..... Yada Yada......

No wonder it is not FUN anymore!!!!!!

If it has come down to this, and the tag fairy(s) can't stand the heat... Then perhaps we either need to end the whole thing, or to have MORE tag fairies.

With just one or two fairies, the tags are then very limited to what may happen to catch that particular persons eye. And, other things that others may appreciate are then going unnoticed???? As well as DISers who WOULD really appreciate a tag, and just want to convey this!!! THIS is what is creating concern and division.... NOT that EVERYONE has to automatically be tagged... Everyone agrees that tags should be surprize pixie dust.... But, when tags become more of a personal issue.... THAT is what is causing the problem.

Somehow, I have a feeling that "Tag Fairy Droppings" are going to come back to haunt me.

I was sooo hoping that I could read to the end of this thread and not speak again...but, I guess not. Anyway. I, personally will do just about anything for warm gooey brownies. But that aside. Tag Fairies....just go about your business. Pay no attention to the clapping or begging. It's beneath you. Tag where you think it's appropriate. If we can't accept that you may actually have a life outside the dis boards ( ) then we don't deserve to have you here. Let's get over it folks and get on with something juicy. Maybe those warm gooey oozing brownies?????

Are the Tag Fairies angry, or is Alex?

I can't understand for the life of me why anyone so wanted and appreciated would be upset by offerings, clappings or requests.

I thought they were like Santa. Mysterious, like to make people happy, grant wishes/requests and provide smiles.

Are you serious? The tag faires are not like Santa. They don't have infinite time in which to go around making people happy. They are people who, as much time as they devote to the DIS and trying to make people happy, probably have lives of their own outside of tagging people.

If someone says something funny, or cute, or clever and the Tag Fairy is reading it ANYWAY, it probably takes a couple of seconds for the Tag Fairy to give that person a tag based on it. It seems that that's how this whole thing started.

If it becomes the norm for people to BEG for a tag then the Tag Fairy has to:

1) Make sure they read all of the tagging threads so that no one feels slighted. Just reading the numerous threads could take all day.

2) Perform a search and read through back posts of all of the beggars to find something tag worthy. Until the server upgrade, they probably had to do this at like 2am, which is why all of the tags seem to appear first thing in the morning.

If they don't perform a search and come up with a unique tag and instead tag with something like "Tag, You're it!" then people complain that their tag isn't unique enough. If they don't tag everyone who asks for one, then people complain that they are not part of the "in crowd." How much time are they expected to devote to this?

What started as something fun and light hearted and meant to be a surprise became a very time consuming JOB. It may be fun for all of the beggars to start tons and tons of threads to ask for tags, but it's probably not a whole lot of fun having to sift through all of those threads just to give people what they want. It might be a nice little game to pretend that the tag fairies are these mystical creatures, but it has gone too far, IMO, when you actually expect them to have mystical powers that allow them to tag people 36 hours a day, every day and when posters of this board turn something that seemed like it was fun when it started into something that is a downright chore.

And for anyone who actually gets upset because they don't like their tag or they think the tag is meant to be nasty, grow up a little and get a sense of humor. Part of what is so funny about tagging is that they seem to take lines that make perfect sense in context and take them out of context, making them pretty hilarious. If you're going to get your knickers in a twist about something, get upset about something that can't be fixed in a matter of two seconds.

yes, I am serious.

I don't know what your family was like, but Santa didn't grant all requests at my house. He didn't refuse any either though.

Just because a request is being made doesn't mean it has to even be read. I doubt the TF's read all the threads.

In my family we asked Santa for one special toy. We were taught at a young age to not be greedy because Santa has lots of little boys and girls to answer requests for and many of them had far less than we did. I guess that explains a lot.

This is my last post as to not debate here on the CB.

Everyone does celebrating Santa different, which is why the Tag Fairy gets requests, what I was trying to explain for so many. Your way nor mine is right for everyone.

In our house, Santa may have only brought one thing, but he was given a list so he could choose, not us. Element of surprise, ya know. It also helped him fulfill wishes and us not be disappointed by not having to freak out completely if one thing could not be obtained.

I don't know anything about Tag Fairies and their relationship to Santa Claus     , but I personally think the Tag Fairies deserve a nice, long vacation. Maybe someplace warm and tropical.

I vote for Hawaii.;)

Wow, Lewski. You TOTALLY and completely missed the point. The point is that while, depending on your point of view, Santa is either a mystical being with infinite powers OR a set of parents who only have to grant the wishes of their own children, the Tag Fairy (or fairies as the case may be) neither have mystical powers nor infinite time to grant wishes to tends of thousands of people (how many people are registered on the DIS right now?) My point was not to get into a contest about who celebrates Santa the right way. It was an analogy.

I don't think I've ever seen grown people so upset over something so trivial. I went to my CP and made my own tag. :D

I also agree with Crissup. The resort board is full of "how do I get my free *Fill in the blank * They frequently spam the poor room controller with cute faxes begging for free upgrades. Housekeeping gets cute envelopes with a tip along with notes begging for towel animals. There are people who come back from their trips destroyed because they left a tip and got no towel animal in return. What used to be a few people getting a little magic thrown their way has mushroomed into "he got his, where's mine?".

I will just post one more thing here.

It is being pointed out how very busy the TF(s) may be.... and this is true.... But, why start blaming all the innocent DISers for this!!!! I will reiterate my previous post... If it has come down to this with arguing, rules, etc... Then, perhaps this whole thing needs to end. Or we need more TFs!!!!

Yes, when I see yet ANOTHER post that says "The Tag Fairy is Very Upset...." I have to agree with Lewski.... I can't for the life of me see why????? It surely isn't our fault... I could only wish I had everyone clapping for me, saying they believe in me, they love me, etc....

There are some underlying problems here, and it isn't all the clapping.

Just an observation... Just look at this thread.... Virtually EVERY poster here has multiple tags.... ( Yep, the TF is just WAY busy....) And others are maligned for clapping to be 'noticed' just once, for the first time....

I stand by my post... These tags have become a personal issue instead of random fun. THAT is the problem!

PS: The best point of all has just been made.... Boy this is one MONUMENTAL issue to even waste time discussing!!!

edited to add: LOVE the vacation idea!!! :teeth: Can I come too!!! I need it BAD!!! :sunny:

I hear Tahiti is nice too . . .;) ;)

I personally think there just has been too much whining and demanding of tags and the tag fairy got tired. It's not fun to do something if it's expected of you or if you're going to get begged constantly for the action to be repeated for someone else. How would you feel if you were in the tag fairies pointy shoes? The TF does have a life outside of tagging after all.

I think the tag fairy is great and I love seeing the pretty colored tags, but I would dream of starting a thread demanding one. To me it's much more special when something happens unexpectedly. And if you get a tag you didn't want, then like my Dad always said to me - careful what you wish for.

I don't see a problem with thank you threads - maybe we can appease more people by having a sticky thank you thread up at the top for the tag fairy.

Just MHO. I honestly don't know what the big deal is about tags. you can change your own.

And I think the TF deserves a huge pitcher of margaritas to go with that tropical vacation. I know I need one after reading these threads. :sunny:

oooooooooooo, look what have you guys done to the tag fairy now :) Jus!t kidding

Thanks Alex & I agree, that is the way it should be too.........

When I got mine, it was a total surprise & that is the best way for it to be;)

The Tag Fairies do a wonderful job, so keep posting folks.....you just never know when they will strike:teeth: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I have been very busy dealing with Junior High kids this week so haven't had time to totally figure out the whole Tag Fairy situation here.

I am just wondering one thing tho, how much time does it take for the TF to actually make a tag? I'm quite computer illiterate (still) and if something involves more than maybe 2 steps within the computer system that would slow me wa-a-a-y down if I was a TF!!! :teeth:

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to all. :grouphug:

Its a very nice thing when you are posting away about your life situations here on the CB and low and behold you get a pretty little tag that is unigue to yourself. It makes you feel really great, not because of status, amount of posts or any thing else. It means alot to me because I know that someone is taking the time to read my posts, and is paying attention to what im saying. Then taking more time to edit a pretty tag under my name.

And I can bet that the people who are having extremely difficult times in their lives, and get a very heartfelt tag from someone they dont know probably feel the same way. Its a very nice way to show kindness to strangers.

I hope they stick around, they do bring smiles they cant see to people behind these screens.

Thanks for reading:hug:

Oh, for the love of the Great and Wonderful Tag Fairy!!! Y'all are going to make me call out the TFPP, and break out my lime green spandex, aren't you?

Jeannie!!! I thought I told you not to store my Tag Fairy Protection Patrol uniform in mothballs! Now, where is Dream, my coleader, and our nemesis--the Evil Emporor Zurg? You've been recruiting these people for the Grey side, haven't you? Along with your evil apprentice Von!

Somebody get me my flashy thingy!!!!! ;) :hyper:
