Please Read... the Tag Fairy is very upset

Look everyone

Let me explain a few reasons behind why I wanted the begging, etc. to come to an end or be controlled under one thread.

1. It was WAY too much work for the TF's to have to be going back through a certain person's post looking for something they can tag them with - especially when search was down. Let's be serious for a minute here - these are REAL PEOPLE, with a real life doing VOLUNTEER work for a FREE website!

2. I wanted it to stop for the sake of the new people who decided to post a begging thread only to have someone post something "less than nice" about getting tired of the begging and hurt their feelings or cause them not to join in on other threads.

Please - people - give this up already. We are all acting like we are in 4th grade. It's a stupid series of colored letters under your name. You were SUPRISED with it - feel lucky. If you haven't been tagged yet, just wait - I'm sure it will happen, and when it does the surprise will be SO MUCH more meaningful than asking someone to do it for you. What I don't understand is the mentality from some that think they are entitled to a tag When did that become the purpose of this website, the hosts, moderators, supermods and webmasters? This is a Disney board - first and foremost. Tags are the tiniest tiniest part of this site - the part that is the most superficial - so lets just drop it, move on, and be glad in this day and age when 11 yr old girls are murdered that the worst thing we have to gripe about is whether a "tagging" policy is fair or not.

Just because a request is being made doesn't mean it has to even be read. I doubt the TF's read all the threads.

Well if my kids whined, begged, bribed, and clapped for gifts for Santa like those going after the Tagfairy I would have slapped them upside the head! Lucky for me they are more mature then that.

First off something like that would never get posted if it was "just alex". If it did my caller id would be lighting up with Pete's number about 20 minutes later.
Quite frankly I do very little tagging. What is amazing is not just the begging, clapping threads people have gone as far as to find my instant messenger, email and private message to ask for tags!! I have had to go so far as to block someone from my IM because they wouldn't give up.
Kitty.. it probably takes on the order of 30 seconds to tag someone.
It's like anything else in life. We aren't going to have a seizure if someone that didn't know posts a tag thread. As a few people have pointed out if you don't know, you don't know.
When there are 10 tag fairy threads on the home page of the community board, that's an issue.

OK, as you can all see by my post count, I have been on the DIS for a while. I had a tag, but unfortunately I accidently erased it a while back "loves to eat lime sherbert on the deck while looking at the stars". But I have not whined or begged to get it back...my fault it got erased, no big deal.

Now I have to say something, and lo and behold if Alex decides to ban me from the DIS, so be it.

I have seen so much whining, crying, begging and so much time wasted on this "tag" crap it is just unbelievable.

What really gets me is how people are apparently obsessed by tags...even to go as far as saying "if they don't get a tag it is taking away people's dreams".

You want dreams??? Try being Carly's mother right now and dreaming that your daughter is still alive. Now THAT is a dream. Wishing and dreaming family members or friends really don't have cancer and withering away with their days numbered here on Earth. I have never, ever, been so disappointed in so many DISers in my whole life here on the DIS as I am now...I just cannot believe this is such a huge issue when there are so many, much more important, serious issues we and other fellow DISers face in life.

There are a lot of DISers here that need to get their life priorities straight.

I'm so sorry the tag fairy is feeling bad. I for one was very surprised and excited by my recent tag. I never expected to get one and was just happy being here.

I'm sorry my thank-you post started a multitude of TAG ME TAG ME threads. I really didn't mean for that to happen and I'm sorry it did. I'd be really embarassed if I started a tread like that. My 4 yo knows better than to whine. I wasn't aware there was another way to thank the TF or I would have gone that route.

You all do realize the Tag Fairy is a person, don't you....not a mystical being that lives to enjoy colorful clapping online?? If the only tags that were given were given from the begging thread, the only thing we'd ever see was "I finally got a tag after begging" or "I clapped 27 times for a tag" or "I've got the clap" Where is the fun in that?

The amusement is to see what things can be picked out of routine chatter to make a funny tag. There is no magic in this. There are people who try to do something nice and it has turned into an entitlement. I'm all for ending the many multiple threads and keeping it all in the one Tagliarchy or whatever it is called thread if people still want to talk about it.

my3kids, there are some things we know, and some things we enjoy believing. You know all about the Mickey Character that meets your kids in toon town, but you never say all that you know.

Look, If the tagging happens, someone does it. We can all suspect the reality. but that persona makes a lot of people happy, and should be placed in the realm of good-doers that we choose to believe in. Especially when we have proof of their existence. Take Santa for example.....

I don't mean to be inflammatory, I just want to say that the Tag Fairy does a great and thankless job. It does get annoying to see 20 begging threads on the CB so you can't find the real topics, but the Tag Fairy is a special person who has his/her own personality. They are a little devilish, take you out of context, and really do make people happy. They are appreciated by most. I have actually added the Tag Fairy to my Buddy list, I thought it was a cute idea.

Flame me for choosing to believe that the Tag Fairy has super rights on the Dis, and special powers on the dis. Person or Pixie, it doesn't matter if they bring joy...

I'm sitting here feeling like a fool for buying into the begging and clapping to get a tag. Heck I even resorted to bribery to get mine! Sometimes it just takes someone to come along and give us all a reality check...
