As the mother of a Marine serving in Kuwait, I'd like to add several "MUST HAVES" right now:

AA and D batteries - for headphones and flashlights
toilet paper
razors
body wipes
flea collars (to wear around their ankles and keep away the sand fleas)
civilian sunscreen (the military issue is like glue and the sand sticks to it)
goggle style sunglasses (help to keep the sand out of their eyes)

These are the priority items that have been listed in the past two letters I've received.

Also remember that the boxes sent to Kuwait must fit into a mail bag or they will not be delivered to the person. We have found that they must be smaller than 12 by 12. We use the priority boxes. we have to send more often, but they get through. Readinf material is also wanted. It helps to get their mind off what they are doing. Paper back books in whatever subject they enjoy is needed. Toilet paper, socks, shampoo, etc. My son had to wait 2 hours in line to get a pair of socks. We had to send him a new belt. He used it at the accident he worked and could not get another one. So ask about any clothing item they may be short on. They are nearly impossible to get.
