I'm having a very hard time finding anything near $200 this year (August and October/November) for our upcoming trips. From Boston to MCO non-stop, the cheapest is Jetblue $215 for August (Song is $220) and Song is $245 for Oct/Nov and Jetblue hasn't opened up yet!!!

Last year I paid $181 and the year before I lucked out on an AA sale that I found out about right here on this board and paid $100 each roundtrip!

I just can't believe the prices this year.

What would you do? Wait for any sales, pay the $205 Jetblue price for August, wait for Southwest out of PVD, wait for Jetblue to open up for Oct/Nov trip or pay the $245 via Song?

Please lets all post any sales we come across here and I'll certainly do the same!

Thanks!

Me too, me too!!! I can't find a decent airfare either!! Our plans are for the beginning of July like they have been the last several years, and the same flights I paid $180 last year are $255 this year on Delta out of LGA. Even Jetblue's prices are bad, $300 for the same time frame.

Only decent price now is on Spirit Air, and I have never flown on them. Has anyone flown Spirit that could give a review? I've tried Newark, and their fares are even higher!!! What's up with these high fares? Any chance we'll see some sales?:hyper:

I would book the $205 from Jetblue. The reason being travel is up.........airlines know this. So the airlines will NOT post hardly any reduced fare's 6-11 months out.

My theory for booking airlines over the net is.........if I can get non-stop flights(Pitts or Cleve) to Orlando for around $200 I jump on it as soon as possible, if it has good times and dates.Especially if you need more than 2-3 tickets.

I booked 8 tx(taking in-laws,DS,DD) non-stop at 11 months Pittsburgh to Orlando for $190(taxes inc) on US AIR for this June. I could have waited but then you are taking a chance with that many tx needed.

I think that is what I'm leaning toward. I'm the kind of person who books ASAP so I have my low rate and good non-stop times.

I was just hoping for under $200 this early on, that's what I'm used to when I book at 330 days out. I'll never forget the time I saw a post here for the AA.com sale two January's ago for the following Oct and I got our tickets for $100 round trip! I knew how lucky I was and I figured I'd never be that lucky again but was hoping...

What about my Oct/Nov trip? I thinking I should wait patiently for Jetblue again and see what happens. I can't see paying Song $245!! And I doubt anyone will be having any sales. Thankfully, Jetblue came to Boston or I'd have to go with the horrible Song prices.

I've been holding out for an early March trip. So far best from NJ is 225. I'm starting to see some deals through May but they don't fit my dates. Hopefully soon or I'll just book the 225.

Boy I'm trying to be strong and wait but I'm starting to crack under the pressure.

If I could just get a 200 fare. I need 6 tickets so that's 150 savings.

You guys have it easy! My neighbor paid $200, and I can't get anything under $351!! If I could find $220 right now, I'd be thrilled!

Just did our May trip for $1067, US Airways out of PVD for 5 1/2 tickets. (2YO grandchild 1/2 prices.) Average price $178 pp.

It was $192.00 for the full price ticket.

I do the same thing if it is less than $200.00 NS at good times I jump on it.

Good luck.

I don't have a choice in airlines because only 1 flies out of our rinky-dink airport .... USAir. Right now tickets for the end of October are going for $274 plus tax. Our next closest airport is 2 1/2 hours away. After the stress of making the drive to Baltimore or Philly, worrying about parking, and worrying about the car the whole time we are in Disney, it's not worth the money you save. Which may only be $100.

Last May when we went the cheapest flight I could get was $232 and I bought those tickets 3 months out.

I am hoping that I can at least get $232 again.

Jetblue also flies into Tampa, and there are some $79 one way fares available in August from BOS to TPA. If you were planning on renting a car anyway, this might be another option for you to check out.

The VWL Five,
Have you checked Spirit out of AC? Or Airtran out of PHL? I was checking today and they were pretty low. I think about $190 for early March.

I'm looking for early March from STL, and best I can get is $257 each for bad times, or $265 for decent ones. GRRR. Last time we flew out of StL we got $180 RT.

I'm actually considering priceline, and I hate priceline....or driving, and I hate driving (16+ hours).

Good luck to everyone looking for those low fares!

I gave in and took Song's early morning flight out of Logan, non-stop on Aug. 14 for $235 (with taxes). Only 3 of us flying. I would have liked to have something closer to the $200 or lower mark, but I hate the waiting game. And I have had, at least to this point, very good experiences with Song.

SYDNCLAIRESMOM - Yeah I checked those airports/airlines. ATA was a stop in Atlanta with a long wait. Didn't want to put the 3 kids and my dad through that. AC was actually more money than Newark.

Thanks for the suggestion.

beattyfamily......I think we got that same price for AA inOct 2002, don't know if we will ever see that again!!I think if I were you I would go with the JetBlue in August and wait on the Oct/Nov trip. We are going Oct 19-Oct 26 and are probably going to go with JetBlue for $175.00. I would be willing to bet that when they release the next round of dates with JetBlue you flights will be the same. I am like you and hate to have to wait to book flights but I think this would be in your best interest. Good Luck !!

My brother travels for work probably 2/3 of his time and he says the airlines are starting to NEED to make money to stay in business. So expect to see higher base prices, which then if discounted, will still be higher than you have paid in the past.

It sucks. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg either, but when you just figure the cost of gas, then add in the cost of paying the crew and such you can see where we have had it real easy.

I am not happy about it anymore than anyone. You may have to adjust your thinking that $225 is the new low price you can live with.

That is what I was afraid of. I'm not surprised either. I guess I just wanted someone to say it.

Gone are the days of $100. round trip specials I'll bet!

Thanks!

Yeah, they're getting pretty insane. I jumped on a continental flight out of newark yesterday at $220.20 but it seems to have gone up to $240 today so i guess i did the right thing.

Flights out of New York are cheaper, but what a hassle!

VWL five,
What dates & times are you looking for? Because according to Sidestep.com most flights on ATA are nonstop from PHL to MCO and are $192.70. And Spirit shows $194.20 from AC to MCO nonstop. Maybe its just the date I plugged in. Think Im going to jump on them today because with spring break I dont think they will get any better. I noticed they are having a spring sale but it does not include travel dates between 3/4-4/13.

I PURCHASED SPIRIT AIR AUG 28 04 THRU SEPT 06 04 FOR $144.00 WITH ALL TAXES AND FEES.
