Are we all just driving our selves silly with worry over the various "worry" threads that have sprang up.

As a new owner of DVC I really don't want to read headlines about ....selling to Marriott....cancelling resort hopping....cancelling borrowing and banking etc etc

Unless someone has any evidence in support we are all probably doing ourselves a disservice by discussing and disseminating topics that are no more than rumours that have collected credence from the News and Rumours board.

Timeshare business is one of the most heavily regulated businesses at the present time. Millions of people visit Disney, millions visit Orlando. Any of the above rumours becoming true could devistate the tourist industry and have ramifications throughout WDW.

Bearing in mind it looks like Comcast are backing out of the takeover...

....shall we talk about time limits for renting and banking points, housekeeping and fun things like that????? please?

I expect to be flamed....wait while I put on my flame retardant suit. :sunny:

Hi,

I don't mind reading the threads, in fact, I like learning about what's on people's minds these days. However, when I'm away from the board, and I'm thinking of DVC, I am spending points and going there in my mind, usually taking some friends and relatives, besides DH of course. Perhaps you're right about these better belonging in Rumors and News, except they're not written as rumors, just "what ifs" and some DVC owners are very concerned. Please try not to let it get to you.

When you let the decision time pass and kept your DVC membership, I was very happy for you, and I still am. I'm now thinking that if our guide calls to say our VWL add on points are available, we'll go for them.

I don't think people are going to flame you, I'll tell you what, I'll stand in front of you, and MY Dog Buster, will protect us, GRRRR!

Bobbi:D

PS. I know that I don't rather read about horrible happenings at BWV our home!

Flaming? Goodness no!

But I did hear that a whole bunch of DVC owners woke up in their resort room bathtubs, missing one kidney, with "Welcome to the Comcast Vacation Club" in lipstick on the mirror!!!

Honestly, though, I feel that discussions of such things - as long as they remain on DVC topic (thanks to Doc crackin' the whip!) - are of benefit to the group. Although I didn't buy into DVC as an investment, it is a substantial asset, and I do like to be kept up-to-date on things that could affect it. Plus, I value the opinions of most DIS DVCers, from those Chicken Littles who put their points up for sale the minute they heard, to those who covered their ears and started humming the "Mickey Mouse Club" theme. ;)

Just keep in mind that, save for the rare occaision that some facts stumble in here by accident, most of what you read is the opinions of others, and should be taken with a grain of salt, $.02 and YMMV before making life-altering decisions.

PS. Disney declined the offer, but said that it would consider a better offer (higher value with some $$$ thrown in). Now an "unnamed source" says that Comcast won't up its offer. So now maybe some can breathe (and unclench).

You know, you should have posted a "swallow all drinks before reading" warning on your post! :p Thanks for the good chuckle. I'll be giggling about it all day.

no flames here, just agreement!!!

::yes::

Hi,

In total agreement. Until it happens I can't worry about it!!!

Don't open them. I opened the first one posted. Started laughing and decided that if I opened others I would probably say things that would get me banned.

NO ONE here knows anything more then has been in the papers and to the best of my knowledge Comcast has not even mentioned DVC. Personally, my theory is ALL of the what if threads should have been on the rumors board.

Nick, you are my "smiley idol"!!!!! Did you used to be "ncligs"?????

ear poppin', I agree that we DVCers get carried away once in a while. No flames from me.

I am not terribly worried about the whole Comcast thing, because ultimately, I have very little control over it.

I try not to pay attention to rumors, because they aren't always true.

Now I shall go back to the deck on my OKW villa overlooking the golf course while I am having a glass of wine in my mind. ;)

I agree with Carol. You can almost always tell from the Subject of a thread what it is going to be about.

Just don't read them. Simple. :)

In general, I enjoy the speculation threads. I just skip over the ones that don't interest me. I am also on the DVCtalk email list which has a lot of erroneous info and "trip report" type posts. I just delete them without reading as I usually do the "question of the day as well. I'm sure I miss some info I'd enjoy, but the effort is not worth it. Still, it's their dime and I can delete or chose not to participate if I want so it doesn't bother me except when I come up against my daily email limits.

DrTomorrow, that was just tooooo darn funny! By the way, we live in Romeo... just up the road from you all! :) What a small world!

As for the OP... I would say that I am tending to agree on the not wanting to hear the speculations and worries, to be honest. We are just getting ready to buy in to DVC and I really worry that we're making the right decision enough, without having more fears escalate that level!

Sherri :)

I will give you some flames here.....So where should we post the list of topics that are off limits.....if you are annoyed by the "worry"posts, it means that quite a few people are replying, therefore engaging in a discussion, and therefore we are participating in a discussion board....I propose we end all threads that discuss not having discussions....if you dont want to read about a particular subject, excercise your control over your mouse and do not click on it....the beauty of this board is that if no one wants to reply, it goes away quickly.

OK....to satisfy all those who dont want "worry" posts, here goes......."the sun will come out tommorow...bet you bottom dollar that tommorow........................
