Hi! We have our holiday planned, however, we have a few flexible days from Oct 10th for 3 or 4 days and would like to go somewhere outside Orlando/WDW.

Please note at this point we do not drive so we have transportation limits - we also don't really want to fly.

Our original thought was to go to clearwater and relax on the beach, it is do-able but looking at going into Orlando to get amtrak/greyhound services seems to be a nightmare.

I looked yesterday and saw a 3 night Bahama cruise on these exact dates!!!:yay:

however, DH isn't sure, as he'd likes the idea of having a few days to see 'real' Florida rather than the disney-glossed version which I do understand as we love visiting cities etc and taking in the great and the grim stuff.

Whilst we're open to discussion I thought you all may have some other suggestions for us to consider

TIA,

Laura

To be honest I think you may struggle not being able to drive yourselves. It might be worth looking and seeing if you can book yours that pick you up from your resort. Daytona Beach is worth a visit and the Florida Keys too.

If you can't drive, you really are going to find it difficult to see the 'real' Florida. Personally, I would opt for the cruise but I am a sucker for Disney cruises anyway so I'm biased.

The only other real option would be to do a guided tour somewhere. It is a shame you don't drive as St Augustine is a beautiful place and well worht visiting but I haven't a clue how you would even begin to try and get there using public transport.

Personally I'd fly up to one of the cities of the North East for a few days - NYC, Boston, Washington DC. Easier to get around without a car and flights are dirt cheap.

Can you get the Amtrak up to St. Augustine? That's a great walking town with lots to see and do and historic.

Thanks everyone - i really want the cruise!!! But i always get to decide and i know DH isnt keen so im trying to be uncontrolling!

I will have a driving license by then but having never owned a car I'd be very nervous about hiring one even though i know im capable.

We went to washington/NY last year before WDW and really enjoyed it but fancy something coastal really

* and before anyone says it by coastal i mean beachy! ;-)

My advice if you're interested in beaches is to go west to Clearwater. IMO they're twice as nice as the beaches on the Atlantic coast.
