I have been last january for a congress in WDW,and visited the DVC. We are Disney Freaks in Europe, going (almost) every month to Disneyland Paris.

We are almost convinced to buy at SSR. But we have some questions. Can anybody help us with the following questions:
- Is it that easy of changing your location from WDW to a Member Gateway not Disney.
- Does anybody know if you still can use the Magical Express Busses when arriving in Orlando International
- If I book a week which costs 163 point and I only have 160, is it possible to pay these missing points in cash, without taking my points from next year.
- Is there somebody who had a bad experience with it

I hope somebody can help me with these questions so that I am convinced of buying.

Additional tips are very welcome

The Belgium Disney Freaks

First, welcome to the DIS!!

I will try and answer your ??s to the best of my ability.

- We have never done the member getaways before, but it is my understanding that it is relatively easy to take care of. DVC is a very customer friendly thing to deal with and can help in almost every situation

-the Magical Express can be used by DVCers as well as other resort guests of WDW. We have used it once and just a couple of days ago, booked for my mom and dad for a upcoming DVC trip. I think ME will continue past the 50 yr. celebration, but at that time, will involve a cost. But that is still up in the air and is based on speculation.

-Im not sure about paying cash for additional points...what I will say is to buy the true amount of points you think you will need. I see that you are in Belgium, so I would assume you willl be traveling once a year or every other year. With that type of arrangement and barring the time of year you would most likely be traveling, and bearing in mind the type of accomodation you will prefer, i.e., studio, 1 bed, etc.,it would be in your best interest to know how many pts. you will need for sure. I realize this takes some of the flexibility out of ownership, but it would be how I would approach if I were in your position, knowing what I know about DVC.

Let me add that DVC has been a wonderful thing for me and my family. Without it, we would have been limited to the amount of times we could have visited WDW. And each trip builds with anticipation. IMO, you cant go wrong with becoming a member.

Good luck in your decision!!

No, you can't pay the "missing" points in cash - the reservation has to be all points or all cash. You could borrow from next year, or you could ask another member to transfer the number of missing points into your account and pay them for it. I often see people doing this, especially when there are such a few number of points needed!!!
