Hi! I haven't been to WDW for almost four years, but we are planning on a trip there soon. It will be me, my hubby, our nine year old son (will be 10 in May), my sister and her two daughters ages 8 and 5 1/2. We have two dates in mind the week after Easter (which will be the kids spring break) or the second week of June. Which of those two dates do you think would be the least crowded? I've been to Disney three times in the last 13 years, twice in Oct and once in the middle of May, we found the May date the best, but with the kids in school we really don't want to take them out of school for a week.

Also are the Disney water parks open in April?

Thanks so much!

Hi,
Welcome to the disboards :-) I always wanted to say that. I cannot answer your question about when the best time is. If I were to guess, with the weather the way it has been around here, some of the kids may be getting out of school later so early June may be better.

However; I can answer about the water parks. Disney has at least one water park open all throughout the year. The water is heated and in the wintertime (which is like spring here) they usually close one of the waterparks for rehab for a time and then open it and shut the other one down.

Good luck and have fun.

P.S. Visit the chat some night around 9:00PM eastern, it is quite fun :-)

I have heard spring breaks are very crowded. I have not been there during that time, though. I have been the second week in June and the crowds are moderate-slightly heavy but is quite do-able with going to the parks early, taking breaks during the very hot time in the afternoon for swimming fun and getting into the parks in the evenings. Use fastpass when the wait is longer than 30 minutes. Do e-ride night if staying on site to get the good rides in at MK without long lines. The water parks are wonderful during this time!

Happy planning!

don't know about crowd levels during those times, but here is something else to think about. If your son is 9 he is still a child in disney's eyes, so he is cheaper for tickets and meals. I would try to plan the trip before his birthday to save some $$

June would probably be less crowded than Spring Break. There might be a Star Wars weekend or so in June, but other than that it would be normal summer crowds. It also seems the crowds for the summer don't really get going until July or so.
