Here is the situation...
I have AP. Currently, I am booked for the 1st 3 days of my Aug trip at POFQ, connecting rooms for the 6 of us (2 adults, 3 kids, + 2yo dd). I know we can "legally" fit into one room of the Poly GV for slightly more $ than the 2 rms at POFQ. Our last 3 days are in connecting WL standard view rms. I have never stayed at the Poly, nor POFQ. I know August is busy, and coming off of our terrible ASMu stay over Easter break, I want a nice trip this time. Advice please??

TIA!
Beth

Well...you're kind of comparing apples to oranges with regards to Poly and POFQ. If you're not against cramming all those people into one room then I'd definitely go after the Poly room. There's nothing like staying at a Deluxe and it will be a Deluxe on the monorail to boot.

However, for comfort factor you might want to re-think that scenario. Sometimes 5 people in a room is pushing it, and you're going to be adding a 6th, which will be a 2 YO??? YIKES!!! might be a recipe for disaster.

Personally, I'm hooked on Deluxes, or in my case DVC, so I'd probably not enjoy staying at a Moderate after having been at YC, and DVC resorts previously. If you're going to be staying at WL the final 3 days, why not just consider moving the entire reservation there. If you're contemplating on the Poly for 3 nights, you might actually solve your problems on both ends, you'll have 2 rooms at a Deluxe that you'd be able to afford.

Just my $.02

Brian

P.S. Whatever you decide, just have some FUN!!! :cool1:

I'd go for the Poly. All 5 of us stay at the GF, and I think some of the Poly rooms are even bigger, and we don't have any problems. I think one more child under three wouldn't present that much of a problem. WIth young kids I think you can't go wrong being on the monorail, plus its so nice to be able to go to the beach at night to watch Wishes if you don't want to fight the crowds at MK. Have a great trip - certainly I hope you have a much better time that the SPring break fiasco.

OP - I love the Poly. and our family of 4 (DH, myself, DD7 and DS7) fit great, but if we were a family of 6, it would have been way too crowded for us in one room. It's also a lot of kids to move from one hotel to another (hey, I'm on vacation and I like to unpack and relax for the whole trip).

Like another poster said, 2 rooms at WL for the whole trip sounds good to me.

The Poly rooms are nice but still, I can't imagine 2 adults and 4 kids in one. I really think the two rooms at WL for a whole week would make for a lot less stress.

I am the OP...
I called about WL, but they have no more standard views left those 1st 3 days. We probably could do POFQ the whole stay, and save WL for a few years from now, but ds has beenbegging to stay at WL. WL does have woodsview left as of today, but then we still would be moving ... it would just be moving rooms for the last 3 days though, not moving hotels. I might try it anyway. Maybe they'd let us stay in our woodsview the whole time.

Thanks for all the advice so far! I'd love to stay at a true deluxe, but with all of us, that will be a long time in coming. I feel like our one chance is to do it now before the 2yo turns 3...then we would HAVE to get 2 rooms, lol.

well, I just called and grabbed a woodsview at WL (connecting) for the 1st 3 days. Definitely more than I wanted to spend, but I think moving rooms will be easier than moving resorts. Hopefully, they do that for me like if I was moving resorts!

AKL had rooms available too, but not standard views.

Of course, my current room ressies are subject to change 43.7 times before August, or DH could always nix the trip altogether (he is still pretty steamed up about the Easter trip. I am praying that this one goes smoothly, otherwise he will tell me "Told you so" for the next 4 decades!)

Beth

If staying in the Poly is something you've always wanted to do I say do it now before youngest turns 3! As a mother of seven, I would say that once you have more than 2 kids you are used to tight quarters, no matter how much room you have.

I'm the OP...
Update...
I just changed (had ended up with WL woodsview 3 nights then WL standardview 3 nights)...to BWI which just became available...1 room standard view for FOUR nights. It saved me enough off the WL woodsview AP 3-night 2-rm price to add at least another night. The WL woodview was $3100/night for 2 rms, while the BWI is $219 to squeeze into 1 room. But how much will we be there? Does BWI have balconies? That would be a good place for DH and I to hang out when the kids are falling asleep. We will probably bring my 2yo's crib mattress or an air mattress since I doubt she will sleep in a pack n play.

Geez, I hope I like it there!

Beth

BWI rooms can be HUUUUUUUUUGE or just a regular deluxe room. Our waterview room (right above the green mediterrenean sign) was ridiculously large! 2 beds, 1 day bed, and a lot of floor space in between the 2nd bed and the balcony. Only thing is, that it was a waterview. Ill see if DF has any pics of the room. When we had a garden view, all the floor space was gone, and there was no day bed, instead just a king chair. BUT BWI is an awesome resort and there will be a lot for you and your family to do! :)

taximomfor4 ~ It looks like you may have already made your decision but I still wanted to put my vote in. :goodvibes

I would definitely vote for Poly. You will love it! We've been in your situation before. If you want to be able to stay at the Poly, now is the time because once the little one turns three you won't be able to unless you get two rooms or a suite (and not many can afford that - I know we couldn't.) We stayed in a Poly room many years ago two or three different times before our youngest was born and then again when our youngest was still under 3. I remember our trip in 1997 very well. It was my DH, DD who was 11 at the time, DS who was 8 at the time, DS who was 4 at the time, DS who was 2 at the time and myself. We never felt crowded at all. We've always found that if you get to a hotel and unpack and organize everything so that you don't end up tripping over stuff then there always seems to be enough room.

We went back to the Poly last October after not having visited WDW since that trip in 1997. We had wanted to go several times but really didn't want to stay anywhere but Poly and couldn't afford two rooms or a suite at the Poly. Our DD is now away at college so last October we only had the five of us. Needless to say, DD wasn't too happy! :sad2: We're already planning for our trip next October, but mum's the word around DD! :rolleyes1

I would just recommend you really think it over. This may be the only time you'll be able to do Poly for a long time and it's such a great place!!!

Good luck!

Ok, so now I have a question. We booked BWI standard view. CRO said room size can vary. My only request was for the best view possible so I can impress DH about WDW (our Easter trip really turned him off to it). CRO said she would put in request for Garden View. If those rooms are smaller, should I call back and word my request differently? I REALLY REALLY want to be able to see Illuminations from our decent-sized balcony. DH and I will need the balcony when the kids go to bed!!

Any ideas?
Beth

Look into the Villas at Old Key West resort otherwise. They offer 2 bedroom villas and are the cheapest home away from home resorts at Disney. Wilderness offers villas too and I think that they would be cheaper than getting 2 joining rooms.

I'm booked for our 3rd (and last before baby turns 3) trip to Poly with 6 in the room. This next trip will be me, DH, DD(6), DS(4), DD(33 months) and an adult friend. We don't feel too crowded but we stay concierge so we do have the lounge to spread out to. Next time we'll have to leave friend home or go DVC.

My one stay at BWI(actually studio at BWV) was a standard view of the parking lot. I don't think you can see the parking lot from any room at the Polynesian. I love the Poly pool too but it would be nice for you to split stay between WL (MK resort) and BWI(Epcot resort).

Good luck deciding!
