Please help me fix my RV

If you end up needing to do any business with Hehr Power Supply in Fort Worth, let me know if you need assistance. They are on the east end of town. As long as they have Saturday hours I can stop by if necessary.

PM me your number. I might need you to do me a favor.;)

UPDATE: Alternator is being rebuilt as I type. I have been told that it will be Friday when I can get it back in my hands. I still am looking for a used spare, dead or alive.

Hope it all works out. When stuff like this happens it just makes you want to sell every thing. But then you fix it and forget about it.

I don't know about all that selling crap, but I know I won't be forgetting this anytime soon!;)

Jenn,

Any word, did they rebuild and reinstall successfully???

Here is the update...

The alternator was rebuilt yesterday and was crankin' 200amps when it left the shop. It was delivered to the "mechanic" at the place of hostage yesterday. This morning, they called and told my DH the alternator was bunk and now they don't know what is wrong with it. They can't get the alternator to work, or the new voltage regulator they put in either. (It was working before they replaced it....) Now, fireworks start tomorrow. I shall be competing with Disney's Wishes Display for the Friday night performance.

At least I got to go see the College Football Awards at DTD tonight and see the players and meet up with Nick Fairley's mom. That was way cool. She is such good people. I would have got a really good picture of Cam Newton too if some idiot had not hip checked me and this super cool Florida fan into my son so he could try to get Cam to sign his PURDUE helmet. (really? Purdue?) Anyways, I chased the little idiot (well, he was not so little, about a foot taller than me, but really skinny and nerdy) down after his little incident, because not only did my son lose his opportunity to shake Cam's hand and me get the picture, the Florida fan had his brand new camera slammed to the ground. I am not sure if it still functioned or not. He was not a happy reptile. I found the jerk, called him as such, and several other things on my mind as he quickly exited the Boardwalk while I was right behind him yelling at him. DH said I had the "look" that no one wants to see. Yes, I let my temper flare a bit, but my son was crushed and all because someone wanted to vault over me to get a stupid autograph.

I can't believe they haven't fixed it up yet!! Should we all take turns camping out at that joint to watch every little single thing they do to make sure they are really trying???

Glad you enjoyed last night though:)

Carol....yes, this month has sucked big time. I want to go to sleep and wake up in end of January. (why the end of Jan? because my MIL moves in Sunday until the middle of January!)

Here is the latest update in my "oh so wonderful drama"

Wednesday, the alternator was rebuilt by the best guy there is around these here parts and was crankin 200 amps on the bench when it was picked up. It was delivered to the place Wednesday afternoon in the hopes that Thursday we would have an RV in my driveway. I could only wish. They called Thursday morning and say that the alternator is dead and they don't know what else is wrong with it because they also went and replaced the voltage regulator. So, we told them the alternator man would call them and let them hash it out. So all day Friday, the alternator guy calls and calls and gets the runaround and never gets to talk to anyone but the secretary. So, on the phone with Good Sam we go and tell the whole story.

Good Sam is going to tow our RV to our mechanic on Monday.

More updates as they come available.

I do apologize to the friendly folk here on the DIS for not updating my saga, however, it has been one HELL of a week. Needless to say, Monday started the week and Monday ended with us having our RV towed to the proper mechanic, us out $463.20 in CASH, and lawyers being contacted and retained. I dare not say anything here because this thread is actually going to be used as evidence in court. (y'all are going to be famous)

We have found the problem and the alternator is working, and we are currently hunting parts for a busted solenoid and melted battery isolator that was not the crux of the problem that made us have to stop and have a tow, but led to the breakdown of the system in general. Monaco is charging way too much for the parts and we do think we have found some in Miami, via the marine market. (this mechanic is looking as well on the RV/commercial side and welcomes the help)

I really did not want to spend every waking moment these past two weeks (and most of the time my DH was supposed to be working) working on this problem, however, I dare say that this week has been much less stressful, however, just as hard on my wallet. So far, DH has lost 5 full days of work. No work, no money in the check. So, with a heavy heart, I sent off the monthly payment to the RV today, knowing that it has been idle and useless for half of the month I just sent in the payment for!

One good note was that my KINGDOME satellite system came back repaired today after many months of waiting. Now I can watch Direct TV while it sits!;)

Right now, we are trying to match part for part just to be safe. That particular link is way more complicated than what we are looking at, however, an upgrade to that could be something to ponder once the money tree starts to blossom again.;)

ETA: After talking to precision circuits and getting an electrician involved with the mechanic, we are going for this part and hopefully it will save us 900 bucks from ordering the normal parts from Monaco. I cannot thank y'all enough for steering me in this direction! Even though they only sell wholesale, I still got the electrician to order the part and it will be here on Monday and will take the place of the solenoid and the isolator that is bad. Both parts were the precurser to the alternator in the first place. Nothing was charging the starter battery except the alternator and it was being worked pretty hard these past months. In hindsight, I should have researched this battery problem further, however, hindsight is 20/20. I will have all new fresh wires soon. (and an empty wallet to bare!;))

If this works, Dave and Linda are going to be renamed as lifesavers!

I blame Obama..... When Bush and Clinton were in the White House, this sort of thing never happened.

New part will be here this morning and we will bring it to the mechanic. Wish us luck!

got parts recommended from msnpark, they tried to set the rv on fire, (nothing personal guys! lol) so took them off...so we are back to the marine side, and they are not open until monday, so we are going down to west palm beach or maybe even miami to get the parts....however, they bypassed the electrical to get the engine started and test the alternator and work on the engine and said it is working great and we are very lucky to have the coach in the condition it is in as far as the engine is concerned and the general condition of the parts on the coach. They are inspecting every inch of the wiring because of the way the alternator burned out the positive pole on the alternator itself (burned it completely off) and the amount of wiring that was burned in half, so we have been without the rv for close to a month now

it never ends and it is never dull....and life goes on...:laundy:

Any luck with the parts and/or repairs?

Hope you get it running in time to enjoy the remaining Holidays.

we threw more parts at it today...one worked one didnt...

I had to break down and call Monaco:scared1:

They found the "old wise one" that knows about the old coaches (which apparently was not around the first time) and we have another part to throw at it tomorrow...sigh sigh sigh

I got a call from Donnie this morning telling me his woes about sleeping in his popup in 24 degree weather. I might be joining him, as my popup has NO HEAT. All the money I had to restore my old bessie popup is going to old bessie RV. I had better get selling on the ebay and quick.

Thursday is coming much too quickly for my comfort zone. (plus the rv smells of engine grease because the bed has been lifted for close to two weeks now...fun fun fun)

for $30 you can buy a ceramic heater at target. If you were closer, I'd give you mine. works better than the gas one in the popup. we used ours in the trailer and mh and it was better and ran on the free electricity you get when you pay $100/night at disney for a cement pad.
