I stayed AKL concierge back in 2004 (on cash before I was a
DVC member). It was a very nice treat!
Here's the basic deal with the lounge food offerings.
At breakfast they will have coffee, orange juice and various other drinks. They also had things such as bagels, some fresh fruit (apples, bananas, etc.), muffins, and danishes. The items vary a little bit day to day, but it's like a continental breakfast (no hot foods). If you're not a heavy breakfast eater you could make a breakfast here easily.
During the middle of the day they have simple snacks like baked cookies, fresh fruit, soft drinks, juices, mixed nuts. It's just a little snack, not a meal by any means.
We were never there for it, but I think they might have an afternoon tea with scones. Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong.
In the evening they have what I would describe as heavy hors d'oeuvres. I remember some different hummus dips with pita bread to dip in them, veggies & dip, fruit, grilled chicken skewers, veggie wrap sandwiches, salmon skewers, chicken nuggets for the kiddos, and uncrustables for the kids as well. Unless you are a *very* light eater you really couldn't substitute the lounge offerings for a dinner. They are meant to be like a nice appetizer.
Late in the evening they serve mini desserts with wine and cordials. I wish I could remember what some of them were, but I'm sure they were tasty. It's nice for an evening sweet tooth if you've got a little craving for a small dessert.
When you check in they will give you the hours the lounge is serving food. Basically it is always open to relax in, but food is only served certain hours. When the food is out, you just walk up and take it anytime during the service hours. It is not open overnight.
Staying concierge level isn't a meal replacement plan, except possibly for breakfast. It's a nice way to pamper yourself, and the pre-planning service is nice as well. As far as being worth the extra points goes, only you can decide. If you want a guaranteed savannah view, then you'd be better off booking a savannah view villa since only some of the concierge villas have savannah views (the rest are pool view).
I hope that helps!
