I have read some of the posts on this topic and I was just wondering a few things? If you have stayed there in the concierge level please help out with my questions if you can......Thanks in advance.

What kind of food and beverage is there?
Is there Breakfast items, Lunch items, and dinner items, or lite snacks all day?
What are the hours to access this food and beverage? Is it open 24 hrs?
Is it like a buffet?
Is it worth it to use the extra points to stay in concierge level?
Anything else you can add as far as benefits would be great to hear.

Thanks again!

Have any DVC members done the Concierge at AKV lately? Just hoping to get some of the above questions answered form people who have done this before I try to change my ressies for 4th of July stay this year. Concierge may not be available at this point so the sooner the better to help me make my decisison.

Thanks to all that can help out.

AKV Concierge has been open just over one month. There are very few AKV Concierge villas (five 2BR lockoffs) so not many DVC guests have had the opportunity to stay there yet. AKV and AKL share the same concierge lounge so you might want to look on the Resorts board and look for posts about (or post your questions about) AKL Concierge there.

We are going in blind. We have AKV concierge studio booked in April and a two bedroom booked for October. April is a H&W getaway and October we are taking the kids.

It will be our first Club level stay at any resort. Its Disney, how bad can it be?

As LisaS stated AKV will share the concierge with AKL and I don't think anything has really changed about the lounge and service offered. Actually the villa concierge guests will represent a small fraction of the total. So go look for some AKL concierge info and pics (allears is a great source of pics).

We stayed AKL concierge a few years ago. It was really nice to have that beautiful lounge to relax in. I just love the atmosphere of AKL. The AKV rooms will be right next to the lounge making it like an extension of your room. Think of the food offerings as snacks not meals (except maybe a light breakfast). I'm sure someone has the list up somewhere. The breakfast is continental in style then changing to light snacks mid-day. Afternoon there was tea and cookies and then a couple hors d'oeuvres early evening and small deserts in the later evening. Drinks were available at all times. DD3 enjoyed a constant supply of chocolate milk (and Diet coke for me!). The fruit juices were great as well. I how ever would not decide to do concierge because of saving money on food. One could run down to the Mara (or do a grocery delivery service) and make your own food. Do it for the service as well. The pre-planing office at AKL was great. They really help not only make the reservations including CRT which was really difficult at the time but helped switch things around when Disney changed the schedule on us (including CRT!). Although most of us can do this for ourselves at this point it is a nice service.

I hope this helps you in someway.

I stayed AKL concierge back in 2004 (on cash before I was a DVC member). It was a very nice treat!

Here's the basic deal with the lounge food offerings.

At breakfast they will have coffee, orange juice and various other drinks. They also had things such as bagels, some fresh fruit (apples, bananas, etc.), muffins, and danishes. The items vary a little bit day to day, but it's like a continental breakfast (no hot foods). If you're not a heavy breakfast eater you could make a breakfast here easily.

During the middle of the day they have simple snacks like baked cookies, fresh fruit, soft drinks, juices, mixed nuts. It's just a little snack, not a meal by any means.

We were never there for it, but I think they might have an afternoon tea with scones. Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong.

In the evening they have what I would describe as heavy hors d'oeuvres. I remember some different hummus dips with pita bread to dip in them, veggies & dip, fruit, grilled chicken skewers, veggie wrap sandwiches, salmon skewers, chicken nuggets for the kiddos, and uncrustables for the kids as well. Unless you are a *very* light eater you really couldn't substitute the lounge offerings for a dinner. They are meant to be like a nice appetizer.

Late in the evening they serve mini desserts with wine and cordials. I wish I could remember what some of them were, but I'm sure they were tasty. It's nice for an evening sweet tooth if you've got a little craving for a small dessert.

When you check in they will give you the hours the lounge is serving food. Basically it is always open to relax in, but food is only served certain hours. When the food is out, you just walk up and take it anytime during the service hours. It is not open overnight.

Staying concierge level isn't a meal replacement plan, except possibly for breakfast. It's a nice way to pamper yourself, and the pre-planning service is nice as well. As far as being worth the extra points goes, only you can decide. If you want a guaranteed savannah view, then you'd be better off booking a savannah view villa since only some of the concierge villas have savannah views (the rest are pool view).

I hope that helps!

Thanks for all your help. I called and reserved part of the week in Concierge level in a 1br. I am wait listed for the rest of the week. It is Disney. I am sure it will be good and worth it. That's why we have the DVC, to enjoy the better things at Disney, so that is what we will do..........let's hope they do not disappoint. I will call also to pre-paln other dining ressies with the concierge people as well.
