I just got an email offer from National to join the Emerald Club for free (a thank you for past business). I have seen lots of posts about the Emerald Aisle, and I'm guessing this is a good deal. Other than choosing your own vehicle from the Emerald Aisle, can someone explain the benefits of being an Emerald Club member? If I understand correctly, you can choose from ANY vehicle in the Emerald Aisle, even if you reserved a less expensive vehicle, (or is that only if they don't have any left of the type you reserved?)

The benefits are that you can skip the counter (they have your CC info on file), you can use coupons and still skip the counter (with Quick Rent you cannot use discounts/coupons), and you can earn free days or miles.

If you book an Intermediate size then you can head to the Emerald Aisle and pick any car from that aisle. It is usually only full of Intermediates but rarely you can be lucky enough to get something better.

If you book any other size car then you head to the aisle of the size you booked, this service is called Emerald Reserve. Each aisle is clearly marked.

Hope this helps.

A nice feature of using Emerald Aisle in Orlando is that when you return the car you pull up to the designated area, leave the keys in the car, take your stuff out, and leave. You don't have to go to the office or counter and return anything or sign anything. Last Friday we got a Kia Cedona(?) (compares to a rendevous or trailblazer) on the Emerald Aisle. Our family of 5 loved it.

Thanks so much for all the quick responses! I did a search before I posted, and found limited information. After my post, I did another search with "Emerald" in the title, and found all of the info I needed. I feel silly now asking questions that have been asked and answered a million times already! Thanks for your patience.
