We will be heading to CA the last week of July and want to leave some time free, yet have some kind of a plan. We traveled to the area a few years ago. It will be DH, our DSs ages 20 and 22, and myself. We love to see some of the well know tourist spots as well as hit the local areas. DSs are film and music buffs and DH and I love the outdoors and ocean. We bought 3 for 5 park hopper days so we can hit the parks early in the am or late in the evening. Here is our plan so far....

Thursday-arrive, get rental car, check in to VGC/2 bedroom, grocery store, explore the resort/evening in the parks

Friday-Disneyland and California Adventure

Saturday-Marina Del Ray/Venice Beach/dinner at Chart House

Sunday-Universal Studios

Monday-AM (possibly back to the parks?)/DH and I will be going to a 7:30pm Red Sox Game/DSs own their own

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday- One of these days we want to get to the Hollywood area and do a tacky bus tour of the area, head to the Farmer's Market. We also want to goto the Huntington Beach area, or is there another beach that would be better? Also thinking about Getty Museum, what about hiking at Torrey Pines Nature Reserve?

Friday-fly home

Thanks for your opinions!

Hi there

I would add one thing (so far!) you have MM privileges, so why not make one of your DL days an MM day...say Sunday?

Universal would also be better on a weekday.

Others will add more I'm sure!

Getty Museum is amazing and worth seeing, you could spend a day between there and Hollywood. We did an evening stars homes tour in an open air bus which was nice on a summer's night.

You might even want to join a tour bus trip from Anaheim to see Farmer's Market, LA city, Venice beach and Marina Del Rey. It would save the traffic and parking, and then drive yourself back for Getty and Hollywood.

Hope you have a great trip!!

The main thing I notice is going an evening the day you arrive and the day you go to the ballgame plus another full day. Disney is going to be a small part of your trip.

The day you arrive you have lots of things planned and DL in the evening may get you a little park time.

Splitting a full day between two parks will get you about a third of each.

You last park day you will feel rushed to get to the ballgame, and it will spoil your park experience a bit. You most likely will leave too early and not get much park in.

I would go again on your last day, you have a five day ticket, just to finish right. I'd also use your MM on Tuesday leave about noon and then go around LA.

I'm pretty sure you have to make reservations for parking at the Getty. So, you'll want to check their website and then call for ressies.

Thanks for the replies and info! I agree with some of you that we may have to rearrange a little. We just got an email that we have Leno tickets for Tuesday, so add that to our list.

I do want to verify that you understand you will be able to do only the "greatest hit" version of DLR.......you will not have time to do it all with your current plan. This is of course all good, as long as it matches your expectations.
