In terms of speed, heights, drops, etc. what is Kali River Rapids like? Is the biggest drop like POTC or more like Splash Mtn? Does the raft spin around alot? My kids like POTC but not Splash Mtn. When we go to AK in April I'd love to go one KRR but I'm just not sure about the kids ( since they still tell everyone how I "tricked" them into going on Splash Mtn! :teeth: ).

I was tricked by my family at Universal last year--the Jurassic Park ride. That was an 85 foot drop out of nowhere. I nearly ripped my Dad's arm out of the socket. I am a 42 yo chicken. I can ride the Kali River ride--it's changed and the drops not too bad. i don't do ANY roller coaster. If i can do it --they can do it :goodvibes

The drop is somewhere in between POTC and Splash Mountain, at least in terms of height. However, it isnt very steep at all (your stomache doesnt end up in your throat or anything like that). The raft spins, but it isnt like the Mad Tea Cups, its just natually spinning in the water. One difference from Kahli River Rapids that sets it apart from other Disney Water attractions is that you WILL get wet. Chances are, you will get soaked. As far as it being scary, there is some fire and pyrotechniques, but nothing outragious. No scary turns or big drops. Your kids should have a lot of fun on it, if they dont mind getting really wet.

hi,
the only big drop is big,but done slowly.it's not a bad drop at all just looks bad when your at the top peeking over the edge.the raft goes down slow,i would say splash's drop is much wrose.it does not spin around alot, but every raft is different.

I'm somewhat of a chicken and I find it to be pretty tame, there is one drop but not that big and not very fast. This ride is lots of fun and you will definetely get wet. Even those who ususally don't do thrill rides will like it. I suggest bringing a poncho and wearing waterproof shoes or bring an extra pair of socks to chane into afterwards. Don't miss it!

We found it pretty mild. I enjoy SPlash Mountain, but that is a BIG drop and I get very nervous right before :) Kali was much more tame. And the spins are slow, floaty type spins, nothing like the tea cups! Spinning makes me sick, but no problems here! My 3 and 5 year olds who were too scared to try Splash Mountain enjoyed this ride. My 7 year old who loves Splash Mountain but gets very scared before the big drop loved Kali, too. We did get pretty wet.

Enjoy!

The drops are not that bad. We are not big fans of falling in drops and had no problem with this ride. However you do get soaked during the drop.

We thought it was very mild. My dd was 3 and she was afraid of POTC and Malestrom, but loved Kali! You'll get drenched, but it isn't scary at all!

Enjoy!

I find it tame, relaxing and too short! Go for it! A poncho is advisable...

When I last went to WDW. I had mom with us. She insisted on asking a CM at Kali specifically what the size of the drop was. They said 25ft, (as far as I know Splash is about 50)and she went onKali. She actually got mad that she didnt get wet :rolleyes2 So we had to ride again. We got soaked !Straight through to our undies, top to bottom (luckilly it was spring or summer, and hot.) Thanks to moms lil (near) fit, she got the privalege of treating us all (me, dh, dd, dgm, and herself) to flip flops in AK for about $15 a pair. Bring back ups, or flip flops for this ride just incase :bitelip:

We find the drop mild, compared to Splash Mtn. It's more like POC to us. As for getting wet, it's hit or miss. I've ridden and come off almost totally dry, and experienced rides where I'm soaked to the bone. Compared to Uni's IOA raft ride (Bluto's Barge), we find Khali much tamer. My kids prefer IOA's Bluto raft ride for more "thrill" effects.

I must say I hated this ride! I don't even remember a drop - that is how mild the drop must be! However I was glad we had on ponchos or we would have gotten soaked! Overall the ride was way more hassle (the line, the ponchos) than it was worth. My kids were 3 and 7 when we rode it and even they were bored! A real snoozer!

Thanks everybody! Now I know we can all do it - and I'll take all your advice about the getting soaked part!!!

The part that scared my dd was the water pouring into the boat. There are parts of the ride that gallons of water are dumped onto you-if you are in the wrong seat ;) while others can stay dry as a bone. It is very funny though and my ds loves it. DD won't go on it again. She is 8 if that helps. The drops were really no problem it was the fear of drowning that did DD in. Oh and that Jurassic Park ride at Universal is leaps and bounds scarier than Kali. (my dd rode that one too and had no problem with it- go figure-drops don't scare her)

THANK YOU for echoing what I say about this ride - a snoozer for sure! Slow moving, nothing exciting. We got soaked all the way through and left the park early because we could not stand the wet undies any longer (at my DD6's urging to leave). Thankfully we walked straight on this ride and did not wait even one minute. I love the Roarin' Rapids ride at Six Flags - much better. Your family should be fine with the "drop".
