Please bring back the main street bakery!!!!

...

I'm curious though if people are going back after 11 am, and they still don't have any of the old baked goods out. Supposedly that is what they were going to do, sell only Starbucks stuff until 11 am and then add some Disney goodies to the mix. Are they not doing that?:confused3

We went closer to dinner time and nope didn't see any old bakery stuff.
Just the same ol SB bakery items.

Why can't we have both? Why couldn't they just add a Starbucks somewhere else and keep the bakery as well? Why does it always have to be replace some beloved part of the park to add something new, sigh.

I'm guessing there must be some agreement with Disney and Starbucks, that Starbucks wanted to sell their own goodies, so Disney agreed in order to get them into the parks.

Starbucks is its own company. Disney has a contract with them. Even if you wanted certain things from the old bakery back inside the bakery it wont happen. Disney has a contract with Starbucks and the contract most likely states everything they serve there, must be a product of starbucks.

What a travesty of justice! Was hoping to see some of my old favorites in there but alas I was disappointed. I demand cinnamon buns! I demand huge chocolate muffins! I demand giant chipwhiches! Mickey can you hear me?! Aren't there enough Starbucks in the world!

I'm with you. I'm not a big coffee drinker so Starbucks is no thrill to me. I don't mind the Starbucks being there, but I do wish it had kept the same bakery items and sandwiches. Just one gal's opinion of course.:thumbsup2

1) People wanted Starbucks.
2) For what reason I do not know.
3) In this this case, they got their Starbucks.
4) And ruined it for the rest of us who liked the old bakery goods.

Be Careful For What You Wish . . . You Might Just Get It.

1. You are absolutely right.
2. Because Starbucks is a fantastic company with a great product.
3. And we are thankful for that.
4. It's called progress. There's a show about it in Tomorrowland.

Ok, now I'm going to make a wish of my own. I wish people would stop complaining about everything that ever happens at Disney.

The real travesty is the loss of the banana bread pudding :(

OMG!!! I AGREE! You are the only other DISer who I've ever seen that shares my feeling on this...everyone always mentions the cinnamon rolls. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Starbucks and was very excited about this change.......until I heard they were getting rid of all the MSB items :furious: My absolute favorite way to begin and end a Disney vacation is always with a frozen mocha and banana bread pudding from the MSB :(

I agree! I'm a coffee drinker and I like really good coffee, but I boycotted Starbucks when we were in the MK last September. I want my giant cinnamon bun! :worship: And no one dare tell me that I can get one at Gaston's, they're not the same at all.

I doubt that that wish will ever come true bit I do love that you tried. :rotfl:

I do wish that someone would go into the Starbucks and see what Christmas treats they have. There are certain items that I'll just go nuts over.

Lol..:rotfl2:

I agree with Rusty on many issues but Starbucks in WDW isn't one of them.

I'm happy I'll get my Gingerbread Latte when I'm there in December.

I have a very hard time believing that the company that got COCA-COLA to give them (allegedly) free product in exchange for an exclusivity agreement would CAVE to the demand from Starbucks to only sell Starbuck's own craptacular pastries in its one tiny little shop just to get Starbucks coffee in the parks.

I don't really have a dog in this fight...though I did enjoy the occasional cinnamon roll. I don't drink coffee at all. I DO understand the emotional attachment people have to the old bakery or certain food items, and it's always disappointing to lose something like that. I miss the bakery too.

Actually, they ARE the same, because:

1. The plain cinnamon bun had become a maple glazed cinnamon bun before the Main Street Bakery closed.

2. Both cinnamon buns were (and are) baked in the exact same location, outside the Magic Kingdom, and shipped in. Nothing was ever baked IN the Main Street Bakery.

3. So regardless of whether you are buying your maple glazed cinnamon bun from the Main Street Bakery, or from Gaston's, you are buying the SAME bun, baked in the SAME location.

The only thing that's changed is the point of sale.

Your plain cinnamon bun was gone well before the Main Street Bakery ever became a Starbucks. So don't be blaming Starbucks for the loss of your bun.

But don't you understand that Starbucks is an evil corporation! That in spite of the fact that they were built from a small business and that they treat their employees well. They also have some good and some not so good baked products and serve way more than coffee. There's just no way to get through though. :mic:

I wish that the cinnamon roll fans would get it that Disney got rid of it. Did they do so because Starbucks was coming? Who know but the point is still that Disney ditched it.

They are good to work for.. That was one of my jobs way back when I was in college.

Apparently, this cinnamon bun was so good that it's absence causes tears. I had it once. It was OK but not tear inducing in my view.

:thumbsup2 Funny stuff.

Now wait, if no one ever complained, what on earth would we have to talk about all day long??? I have to fill my work day with something!! ;)

Well Christmas flavors and treats DID go live today in Starbucks. ;) I am sitting with my Caramel Brulee latte as we speak.

I am not a huge Starbucks lover but I think that they do offer a consistent, good quality of food and drinks, unlike Main St Bakery, which I thought was only meh at it's very best.

Just the same ol SB bakery items.

I was at the Epcot location last night, I didn't see any Disney bakery stuff. I got my usual banana chocolate chip loaf with my chai tea.

I think that everyone that is a coffee drinker agrees that SOMETHING had to be done to bring decent coffee to the parks. Nescrappe was not cutting it for anyone and going to Kona every morning for breakfast in order to get a decent cup was not a feasible option for most people.

I very much support bringing Starbucks into the parks. I do not support removing all of the Main Street Bakery pastries and replacing them with Starbucks ones. The need was for coffee, not for pastries.

For that reason, I was disappointed with this change. I suppose it was a necessary evil in order to get Starbucks into the park. I suppose its the old adage, you have to give a little to get a little?
