Can anyone tell me which one of these beaches is the best or what your experiences were at either one? Also, are they close enough together that you could do both if you wanted? Thanks so much!

We just got back from Mr. Sanchos. It was nice, clean and had a nice pool area. There was also showers to use. It would be a little walk but I think it is close enough if you go down the beach to playa del sol. If you have to go back out to the road it would be alot longer route. The food was great our big mistake was eating before we went. Next time we will save our appetite for Mr. Sanchos food.
We did see a topless woman. But thankfully our 3 year old daughter didn't see her.
Hope this helps.
Check out their website for a coupon. www.mrsanchos.com I think.

Mr. Sanchos was great...we've it twice. Both times we had a fantastic time. The biggest complaint I hear about Playa Sol is the crowds....Mr. Sanchos never seemed that crowded to me. THEY HAVE GREAT MARGARITAS TO BOOT!!!

Here are some pics of Mr. Sanchos from our trip.

Once at the site click on the right arrow (on the light blue stripe) to see the other pics.

We choose Mr.Sancho's over Playa Sol because we figured PS would be to crowded since the ship offered an excursion there. We were glad we did, Mr.Sancho's was great, not crowded at all, very relaxing and the food was YUMMY!
We'll be going there again in Oct.

We booked the Play Sol Beach Break through Disney. When we arrived we were directed to a roped off area of the beach set up for all of us from the Magic. The Beach Break included the chairs, umbrellas, a buffet lunch, some drinks (water, hard & soft drinks, and beer), access to the petting zoo, and any non-motorized water "toys" such as floats and paddle boats. We found the beach to be very clean and the staff there to be very friendly. They also had water trampolines and an inflatable "iceberg" that swimmers could climb and slide down. They conducted different beach games and the pool had a swim up bar. We had a really good time.

I thought that the food was ok but not great. I have heard great things about the food at Mr. Sancho's.

I understand that there is no admission charged for Mr. Sancho's. Since both beaches are fairly close together, I would suggest that future cruisers go to Mr. Sancho's. If you do not care for Mr. Sancho's you could always walk on down to Playa Sol.

Next time I think that we will check out Mr. Sancho's. In either case, make sure that you take some $1 bills as everyone there expect tips!

Here are the links for both beaches:

Do you remember the cost of booking through Disney? Did they take busses to Playa de sol?

I'm thinking of booking through Disney because I don't want to deal with the taxi situation. Or, are the beaches walkable from the ship?

Thanks.

Thanks for the bump! The links were great!

Did you go out on the iceburg? It looks huge from the pictures but pictures can be misleading.

Does anyone know what the price for the water trampolene(sp?) at Mr Sancho's is? Is there an age or hight restiction? Has anyone done this before? Looks cool but if I don't want the kids on it I'll prepare them in advance.

Thanks :D

(from DDs who just LOVE the bouncey guys!:p )

Playa Sol and Mr. Sancho's are not within walking distance, but it's not at all difficult to take a taxi. There will be a line of them waiting at the pier and at both beach clubs. This is definitely something you can do on your own.

If you choose to go to Mr. Sanchos on your own do you have to stand on long lines waiting for snorkel gear, waiting to ride waverunners and use trampoline. And, also how are the prices for your activities in comparison to booking Playa sol from disney?
also, if you don't like mexican food at all should you just bring room service with you to the beach in a cooler?:D :D

We took the Playa Sol beach break & loved it!! Granted I can't compare it to Mr. Sanchos since we haven't been there, but I plan to go back to Playa Sol. It was a highlight of my cruise.

We were brought to & from the pier via air conditioned buses. I don't recall the cost of the excursion (we did do it through Disney)

Playa Sol is nice as we took it as part of the Disney excursion.

I would give two negatives:

- All the tour groups stop there so it can get crowded.

-Be prepared for a concentrated unavoidable(they're camped along the entrance walk) hit of the downtown shopping with the pushy vendors. This to us is a huge turnoff and that alone would stop us from going there again.

Mr. Sancho's had it's own little flea market. Vendors were not pushy at all. It was quite an enjoyable day. The food was delicious :)

You can get lots of info on Mr. Sancho's website including their food menu, sorry no prices. But I can tell you that it was cheap for DH and I to spend a day at Mr. Sancho's eating and drinking cabs included than it would have been for us to go on Disney's excursion to Playa Sol beach.

Mr. Sancho's

I got some great deals shopping there too. The vendors will bargin with you.

BTW- make sure you get the cost up front on the cab rides $15. per ride not per person to either beach is the going rate. Most cabs can take up to 4 people for that fare.

Are there any hidden costs at Mr. Sanchos? Someone said there is a pool there and the website shows water tramp. Are there any fees for these activities. Just seems like a catch all these activities for free and open to the public. I am thinking if I do take a cooler with me of food and drinks and the club is free and I bring my snorkel equip. The only money that will be spent is on the cab ride. Does that sound correct? I know we would probably not enjoy there food and I would rather spend the big money on a wave runner ride.
Thankyou

I didn't see a pool there. Saw the water trampoline, wave runners and girls braiding hair. The food and drink were muy bueno! :sunny:

Mr. Sancho's doesn't have a pool, but it has a large (30 person) cool water jacuzzi. The extra activities are as follows:

Horseback Riding $40 per hour
ATV $40 per hour
Tequila Seminar $42
Wave Runner $55 per half hour
Snorkel Glass Bottom Boat $40 for 2 hours
Banana Boat Rides $10 per person

They also have many packages available at reduced costs, combining 2 or more activities.
